The Former Regime And All Its Members And Adherents Are To Be Shunned And Jailed: Barack Obama Unequivocally Says George Bush Authorized Torture

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama said Wednesday night that waterboarding authorized by former President George W. Bush was torture, and the information gained from terror suspects through its use could have been obtained by other means.

“In some cases it may be harder,” he conceded at a White House news conference marking a whirlwind first 100 days in office.

The prime-time news conference was the third of Obama’s presidency, and the first not dominated by the economy that has thrown millions of Americans out of work.

At a town-hall style meeting in Missouri earlier in the day, as well as in the White House East Room, Obama said progress has been made in rebuilding the economy, yet more remains.

“And all of this means you can expect an unrelenting, unyielding effort from this administration to strengthen our prosperity and our security—in the second hundred days, and the third hundred days, and all the days after.”

He called on Congress to enact his ambitious agenda, including health care legislation, a new energy policy and steps to impose new regulations on the financial industry to prevent a recurrence of the collapse that recently brought the economy to its knees.

Obama also said he was “absolutely convinced” he had acted correctly in banning waterboarding, an interrogation technique that simulates drowning, and approved making public the Bush administration memos detailing its use as well as other harsh methods used on terrorist suspects. “Not because there might not have been information that was yielded by these various detainees … but because we could have gotten this information in other ways, in ways that were consistent with our values, in ways that were consistent with who we are.”

Obama has come under heavy criticism from former Vice President Dick Cheney and other Republicans for his actions, who have questioned whether they have rendered the country less safe.

Cheney as well as some congressional Republicans have urged Obama to release memos they say will show waterboarding was successful in obtaining information. But the president, in a White House exchange with House Republican leader John Boehner last week, said the record was equivocal.

Obama told reporters he has read the documents Cheney and others are referring to.

On a political matter, Obama said he thought that Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter’s switch Tuesday from Republican to Democrat would “liberate him to cooperate on critical issues like health care, like infrastructure and job creation, areas where his inclinations were to work with us but he was feeling pressure not to.”

Specter gave majority Democrats 59 votes in the Senate, pushing them one step closer to the 60 needed to overcome Republican filibusters. But Obama said he did not expect a rubber stamp Senate, an acknowlegement that his ambitious legislative agenda poses challenges.

Damn, he looked like he did not want to do this press conference at all, kind of like he was forced to do it.

He said the same shit he always says, sounded very scripted. You could tell the difference when he was answering questions, when he actually said what he felt, and the one’s where he was saying what others have told him to say about certain issues. Still telling the same old lies.

I found it extremely interesting that he didn’t take a question from Major Garrett of Fox. I wonder why he avoided him?

What the teleprompter told him to say:
    “and all the days after.”

What he really wanted to say:
“and all the days after, until i die.”

I did not see this one. Should I search on youtube and watch? Isn;t it amazing how in Mumbai after their attack they all wanted some ass, took the streets dude!!!! Near riots that anyone would even dare attack Indians and the government didn;t stop it. Here, we allowed eight years of barbarity and destroy people who allegedly tortured within the parameters of the Geneva Convention. Here we execute the palace guards orgasmically.

Don’t expect much on substance, Vince, but watch his body language and tone.

It’s always good to see what the enemy is saying and doing.

For ALL that think we Will Win back Hous in 2010. BE REAL, there will be no more elections….Obama has set his Kingship in Place tonight.

Look for Crisis and Suspension of Constitution within days to weeks… He wouldn’t go after Bush if he didn’t have it planned out already.

Besides this “Flu Crisis”, we know that both Obama and Biden state their belief that the US will be attacked again… I agree, we will, and he is counting on that. And the real cause is Obama and Biden making sure it happens to weaken the Country, this is Absolute TREASON and TERRORISM…

For God’s Sake, Somebody Do Something to Stop Obama.

Regarding Flu Crisis….Reminds me of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six.

BTW, They have closed schools for flu all around here (only 2 reported cases in a district of 80+ schools of a major city).
But on tv news, Live report of how the Cinco de Mayo will go on and be Biggest ever….lots of STREET Fun.

(district of 80+ schools in major city) is meant as the Major City of approx 500,000-600,000 all the 7-8 big suburbs of of 20,000-40,000 each.

Thank God for Fox News. I think Fox is a major thorn in his side.

Keep the focus on Bush and no one will pay attention to the Usurper Boy King’s actions. With the media set firmly in place, no one will ask questions and those few who might, don’t get called on at press conferences.
I never thought I’d see the day when a Banana Republic wannabe would be sitting in the Oval Office.
The thought that this man and his minions is doing every thing possible to destroy this country is enough to make my blood boil, but when I think of the further danger he puts our Military in ~ I can’t see straight.

they wont do a thing about this eather, all talk no action. these people dont do much ,they sit and wait for things to come to them, and then take action after the damage has been done. its called being lazy :!:

If they can put the previous administration on trial for torture( which pelosi and reid were briefed on) then they will be able to be tried for treason.

What they are doing to the country is a hell of a lot closer to treason than waterboarding is to torture.

Interesting that the cinco de mayo festivities will go on when the virus originated in this population.

Twice now BO has said that schools will have to be closed?? knowing parents will have to stay home with daycare not an option so will this hurt the already cripled private sector? of course Something sinnister is going on here. The only death in this country was a mexican child.RIP and God bless their soul. But this is not an outbreak deserving this reaction.
