Own the argument by applying separate standards.

One can not stop crime retroactively and he knows it. The two subjects are entirely separate.

You can not apply the same standards to sworn enemies who are intent on killing everyone from a country based on their ideological values as you do to the criminal who typically commit the crime on a spur of the moment decision.

I like Truman. As I understand it, he was in charge of an artillery unit in WW1 (never lost a man under his command) that was firing one of the last shots just before armistice went into effect. WW2 he authorizes and stands behind what became THE last ‘shot’ of any war to date. (Although there were some conventional bombing missions while Japan was responding to Nagasaki.)

I like how John Stewart tries to take the “moral high ground” saying that waterboarding is torture, yet he has no problem with abortion and the killing of babies. Liberals always have a double standard. John Stewart needs to sit down and watch beheading videos. He needs to sit down and watch how the jihadis torture and kill innocent civilians. He needs to watch WWII videos of how the Japanese ruthlessly went town to town with bayonets killing babies right out of the arms of the mothers. John Stewart just needs to sit down.

Seeking “moral high-ground” by saying you find waterboarding to be a crime, while enjoying the fact that you may well be sitting in a city that was spared a terrorist attack is purile cowardice.

If he really thinks Truman was a war criminal (to me his worst crime was firing MacArthur) then why not start a campaign to remove Truman’s name from libraries and schools as a start? I mean really, naming public buildings after a war criminal? Gosh! Let’s pull FDR off of the dime because he HUNG UNTIL DEAD kraut spies caught on the coast in NY and FL. They had military tribunals and didn’t go to Gitmo. Then there was that unpleasantness of relocating the Nipponese into camps.

I’m actually glad he said what he did, perhaps it will bring out the libtards into the open to finally say what they really think. Also, it would make it impossible to talk about FDR in such glowing terms anymore, he too is a war criminal. If they go after Bush as a war criminal, then I will personally start a campaign against FDR, Truman, and LBJ as a start, and have them branded as war criminals.

He should have framed the question so that Stewart’s WIFE, 5 y.o. SON AND 3 y.o. DAUGHTER were the ones who were about to be killed by terrorists.

If Stewart was intellectually honest in his argument he would be holding his principles so high that he would sacrifice his family for them.

Several of the 56 signers of our Declaration of Independence did exactly that…sacrificed family members being held by the British.
