Bush thought he was above the fray in defending himself from the petty little liberals, dignifying their childlike assults with response. His mistake was that in doing so allowed them to run wild with it and shaped public opinion. I've alwayed like Cheney and thought the order was backwards, he should have been POTUS. Then again I have alwaysed liked cowboys, especially ones wearing white hats.

“Is Cheney’s uptick due to his visibility as one of the most outspoken critics of the Obama administration? Almost certainly not,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “Former President George W. Bush’s favorable rating rose six points in that same time period, and Bush has not given a single public speech since he left office.”

This is because people are waking up and realizing how good it was under Bush.

Of course his numbers are on the rise, now that W isn't around to tell him not to defend himself and their Administrations policies.

I'll never understand how W could think defending his Administration would somehow dishonor the office of the POTUS.
