They are afraid of the spotlight being on the merits of her actual legal reasoning (or defects thereof)and the quality of her work. She's going to be put on the Court, of that there is no doubt. However, the Republicans could at least make their questioning of her a laser like exercise in precise facts about her record, her words, and her published writings. The best thing would be to NOT engage in histrionic rhetoric like what Ted Kennedy did to Bork back in 1987. Stick to the facts. Subtract any dramatic sarcasm. That way the media will have a thin gruel to try to use against the Republicans vis-a-vis Hispanics. And Republicans had better remind the Hispanics that the Democrats sank the nominations of a couple of far more superior Hispanic legal minds. This woman is second-rate, at best.
