Neither Al Qaeda nor Iran want a secular democratic government to succeed in Iraq. Iraq, however, does not have to go bad. Responsible American leadership would make a difference. Unfortunately for the memory of those Americans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, I have no confidence in Obama not to lose, and that makes me angry. I would like to think that the Sunnis in al-Anbar saw the moral depravity of AQI and will not want to rejoin them no matter what, but being able to join a general Sunni-type resistance group will be easier for them to stomach. I wonder why we stopped paying the Sons in Iraq hoping the Iraq govt would take up the tab instead of phased-down payments based on the Iraqi govt stepping up. =\ crap this article is depressing.
