    Hauntingly beautiful.

A dark wind blows. The flame of liberty flickers.

  • DesignR

Dark, brooding, past redemption, past hope.

The lyrics take place after the fight has started, and well beyond the capacity of physical reserves. The wallet full of blood seems to imply that money is of no value if you are dead.

Quite the pick me up.

I took it as a warning, and found it inspirational. I always see hope. I don’t care why it was written, I care about what it does to me, and what I do with it.

    • DesignR

      I get it.

It is an absolute powerful piece. It can and does motivate in a positive way. A warrior that has seen death gets it. Obviously, you feel that in your bones.

But, as a public sign-post on an Internet Radio Show it is not clear and can be interpreted in other ways (Probably ’cause I’m a dumb sh*t), and it’s also loooooong. You use it ‘cause it speaks to you. Ok.

I suppose it’s just a matter of perspective. But, that’s my point. It is a narrow one.

I, and my friends, were moved more by “Callin’ all the Clans together, Brother come a runnin’”. Like Rush Limbaugh and his ‘suicide’ theme song, I like hearing it every time your show starts.

The first time I heard that song, I was instantly in accord and understood. Tears welled in my eyes (Yeah, I’m a pussy). I can’t hear enough of “Callin’”. It is one of those universal songs that will stand the test of time. I first thought it was an old Civil War song!

The Johnny Cash song (written by Elvis) is my second favorite. I could hear that one over and over again. Elvis has a great version on one of his gospel albums from the late 1960’s. That one speaks to all ages.

The ‘Give me fire’ song kicks ass and raises the adrenalin level, but my 78 year old father would not be able to stand it. Therefore, he would not listen to the ACCDF message to follow, and I’ve been hoping to get him involved.

I love the passion Pat. Do your thang brother. It’s all good.

    • Specter

      Damn DesignR

Come up for some air. If I could type slobbering and choking noises I would’ve started with that.

Were you buns up and kneeling when you were pleading for Pat to do his thang?

    • Specter

In all seriousness the fact it comes off of a video game is a bit troubling.

I get the motivation as well and it does seem to speak to the dark truth. There is no doubt the act of war upon the American public has and is taking place.

It’s a bit depressing tho to see so much potential go to shit. But no matter, I’ll soldier the fuck on and you all better too, we need brave men willing to do dark things.

    • Johnny Doe

The song is not from a video game. It was released in 1997 by a relatively obscure group called Godspeed You Black Emperor.

The imagery from the game fits quite well with it. And the fact that it is digital adds to the surreal atmosphere created by the music.

This piece somehow manages to capture the chillingly grotesque and yet transcendingly beautiful world of which we are a part, but will one day cease to be.

    • Specter

Well said and thanks for the info.

  • Storm 0311

Yup, we can find fear and inspiration in the damdest places……..

  • alexakim

    Oh very good.

Like how Bond says it to Q upon seeing the car revealed from under the “cloaking” field.

    Like that.

  • Jeanet

    @ Specter;

Not only brave men are willing to do dark things….

    • http://patdollard.com Pat Dollard

That’s my girl. I trust you are well.

    • German Dragon

Long time no see, Jeanet. How have you been doing?

    • Jeanet

      @ German Dragon:

I’m doing okay although my country has sunk beneith the level of a Banana-republic. That’s why I’ve decided not to leave but stay here. Only cowards flee and I, for one thing, am not……

    • Jeanet

      @ Pat:

That’s what I am. Still. Cause I’ve forgiven you. Again

Been to hell and backwards, again. The devil decided to kick me out……again. He just doesn’t want any competition, fearing he might loose his ruling position

Even Mr. Death did a U-turn after I cried at him like a banshee.

Have a  on me and do some :gun:

Your distant, sometimes absent but trusted servant from across the Atlantic.

      (Nec temere, nec timide) Jeanet.

Nothing will be the same again. Once fire touches it, it is transformed forever, whether it is refined or consumed completely.
