The nation’s top military official says that if Congress changes the law to allow gays and lesbians to serve openly, the Pentagon will comply.

Adm. Mike Mullen says that if the “don’t ask, don’t tell” law changes, he would advise President Barack Obama on how to integrate openly gay and lesbian military members into military operations.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says he’s working to provide Obama an objective assessment of what impact, if any, changing the law would bring to an already stretched-thin military fighting two wars.

Obama says he wants to allow gays and lesbians to serve openly but has taken a go-it-slow approach since taking office.

Mullen appeared Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”

I’m neutral on this.. if it is done, let’s try to take a gradual approach, and not rush it, that will make things worse

  • Marc

Before “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, it was “STFU & Do Your Job”, I am for a repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, & a return to “STFU & Do Your Job”

  • YERMOM

All that it should take to shut this down is for straight service personnel to start suing for sexual harassment.

or for all the straights to be openly straight what ever the fuck that means.

  • Eric

If Congress even considers the stupid idea of having gays open about their sexuality while in the military, I call on th emilitary personnel to do a one day sit out en mass. That would send a message to Congress.

We can’t do that. We don’t have the right to protest like that. We are still soldiers, whatever happens we must drive on and deal with it.

There is another way out though…. just don’t re-enlist. Quite simple, and then protest.

  • Fred

Just great. Now we’ll have one in every ten soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen who are rump rangers. You’d better believe that quotas won’t be far behind. We’ll have lawsuits over discriminatory promotions. And we’ll have gay personnel spreading their diseases and degeneracy among the ranks.

The current policy enforces a very careful result. When I was in the Army I’m sure some of the guys I served with were homos. But I didn’t want to know. None of my business and it should be no one’s business.

    • Robbie

So true. The HIV test will be tracked very closely and I for one will not treat a homo wounded. Who knows if they are infected and their blood is a poison

    • thoraxx

I am sorry, I can’t sit here and ignore these stupid comments. I totally against this rule of allowing homosexuals openly express or enter the military, but the comments are a bit off.

Just because your a homosexual doesn’t mean HIV only effects them. In fact it is blind to racism, preference of sexual partners or sexual orientation.

A straight guy lying, bleeding on the battle field can have aids or any myriad of diseases…

Sorry your comment is homophobic at best.

Plain and simple I don’t want openly gays serving me next to me.. keep the closet door closed… and we’re be better off.

It goes beyond the obvious sexual faggot thing. It is the beginning of the end of military moral integrity. This is the stealth means of destroying the last best hope of the nation. To remain neutral is to cave in to the false moral equivelancy which asserts that homosexuality is as normal as heterosexuality.

    • American Woman

Amen to that. obongo wants nothing more than to distroy and discredit the military.
