Mainly because it takes so much energy to create hydrogen by electrolysis process and then energy to compress it into a very expensive tank wrapped in carbon fiber that is HUGE. This huge tank in turn that holds about 95L of Hydrogen that will propel your $100,000+ vehicle 300 miles. It would have been nice if the money was shifted towards plug in hybrid development instead. Also hydrogen at government subsidized prices are like $5-$10 for about 4 liters. I wouldn't be able afford the car or the fuel! Also GM and Ford have fuel cell vehicles (not in production) I'm not sure you can call Honda's Clarity a production vehicle since nobody can buy one. Fuel Cell Cars do not make sense. The reason OBOOMBA killed it is because you need a really efficient power source to produce the hydrogen and the obvious source is nuclear. Also, you would have to let the oil companies be the delivery system for the hydrogen as they already have the infrastructure in place. The enviro-Nazis would never allow the construction of say 40 nuclear power plants in the USA. That would be just WRONG! Employing Americans to build those sinister Nuke plants "Moo-ha-ha-ha!!!"
