Republican Leaders Too Cowardly To Protest Obama At Notre Dame

Like we’ve been saying.

Fox News:

With the nation’s top Democrat less than 12 hours away from delivering a controversial address to Notre Dame’s graduates, some protesters outside the Catholic university were wondering Saturday why President Obama’s Republican opposition hadn’t shown up from Washington.

Anti-abortion demonstrators are making their way to South Bend, Ind., by the busload this weekend to protest Obama’s support for abortion rights and embryonic stem cell research. They argue Notre Dame shouldn’t have invited Obama to speak or offered him an honorary degree.

Judy Zabick said she was “very upset because there’s not one politician here.”

“And what an opportunity missed for the Republicans to take advantage of the passion and the devotion that these people have,” Zabick said. “Where are our leaders, not only in our church, but in our nation?”

One Republican exception was 2008 presidential candidate Alan Keyes, who remained jailed Saturday following his second arrest the day before for trespassing on Notre Dame’s campus.

As a member of the Independent Party, Zabick, along with her husband, Bob, and son, Michael, were among roughly 50 protesters who congregated on four corners at Angela Boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue, just outside the university’s gates.

Bob Zabick said he was more concerned with the lack of Catholic bishops publicly condemning the university’s decision to host President Obama. As of Friday, at least 74 Catholic bishops nationwide have voiced their disapproval.

“It’s words. We need their physical presence to do something,” he said. “Where are our bishops? Where are our shepherds? They’re supposed to be leading the flock, and where are they? You don’t see anyone out here.”

Pastor Joseph Larson, of the Doers of the Word Baptist Church of Missouri, stood just feet away with an enlarged, graphic image of an aborted fetus next to a quarter for size comparison. He was angered that he risked arrest if he ventured onto campus with the tabletop-sized sign.

“They didn’t want that inside,” Larson said. “So we’re bringing it out to the streets because the truth has to be told. A nation that destroys its own children has no future. That’s got to be the most common sense in the world.”

Andrew Beachum, of Elkhart, Ind., learned the hard way last Friday when he joined anti-abortion activist Randall Terry, who runs stopobamanotredame.com, and carried plastic dolls covered in fake blood on the campus.

“The constitution of Notre Dame says they’re willing to dialogue and be a school of free speech, but instead they arrested us,” Beachum said. “We were just praying, we weren’t being violent or anything.”

Meanwhile, Ashley Baldridge, a graduate student of biology at Notre Dame, said she was appalled by the “gory images” held by protesters like Larson.

“The attention here should be on the graduates and I don’t really like the spectacle created here,” she said. “All of the protesters are not from the Notre Dame community and I don’t like that people are putting gory images all over town and right at the gateway of our campus. It makes me sick.”

I’ve got news for you Ashley (Last Paragraph), those “gory” pictures depict the act of abortion. That is what you should be appalled by. This egomaniac of a president should have graciously declined the invitation. Clinton was smart enough to do so. Jenkins should be shown the door for bringing America’s National Disaster to South Bend!

  • Gary in Midwest

If the graduation was truly about the students they should have known that having an abortion advocate deliver a commencement address at a Catholic University just may cause some upheaval. As for the “gory images”, reality isn’t always rainbows, butterflies, hope & change.

God bless Alan Keyes, and whoever was with him.!

I have a question for Ashley Baldridge,”are you or have you ever been, a Catholic?”. You don’t sound like a Catholic. Well, maybe the new age version…

There would be a lot less abortions if before they are allowed to even consider one be required to watch a film of a baby being aborted trying to get away from being pulled apart. They might see what is being destroying is a vital human being with a strong sense of surival. I can’t tell you about how many babies I have cryed for because their own mother was willing to kill. Even in our world today I am afraid for my Grandkids. I think our world isnot the best to bring children into but killing them is not the solution. Prevention is always the best method used.

Dude, they arrested a paralyzed priest right on FOX. I wouldn’t go near that. Campus cops are like Egyptian cops: pathetic, sorry-ass little men who get off on victimizing anyone they can, just total psycho losers, because they couldn’t even get GEDs. Total human abortions.

I’m saddened. I think this is all a strategy to divide and conquer the church.

There is so much I want to say but will simply leave it that I’m disappointed in my Catholic community for refusing to stand up for basic church doctrine and for their confusing majority support of this man.

  • GRIZZ

ND has do decide what they are.Christians or catholics.

  • Vehement

Yet another reason I will never go back to the Catholic church. What is wrong with these people?

  • DoubleTap

Obama’s visit to Notre Dame has one and only one purpose – to remind the country that religion is now only allowed at his whim. What other reason could there be? He is making a mockery of any religion except Islam whenever he has a chance.

Sad and pathetic. If it were up to him, we would all be chained to a prayer rug or stoned to death as a heathen and heretic of his preferred religion. His true colors are showing once again.

  • MikeP

ND should have already fired the administrator who fought to bring this baby killer to their campus.
Absolutely the most hypocritical stance by any religion based institution in the world. Even the religious groups that we all protest against are not this hypocritical. And where the hell is the GOP representation other than Alan Keyes? A real opportunity missed AGAIN.
    God bless our MILITARY HEROES!

It`s not just campus cops folks. Cops are no longer peace officers the are law enforcement officers and as long as that paycheck comes they will enforce it no matter what it is. I was one and in any profession you can have 10% assholes but in police work the ratio is 50% assholes. That silly little bitch said the images made her sick! The shoah makes me sick but I`ll damn well never forget it either after seeing the pics and films.

    • aboutTObegin

goes back to my point when it comes time to decide, seems those that work for or in Government will ensure they paycheck keeps flowing instead of doing the right thing.

So far, Republican “Leaders”, (and I use that term loosely), haven’t had the courage for one of the simplest and most basic things that could end this nightmare for all of us, and that is to simply ask for the BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Any takers? Come on Republicans, find your balls and ask the Big Question: Where’s the BIRTH CERTIFICATE?? Quit giving us double-talking bullshit and hot air, ask it loud and ask it publicly, or be remembered as cowards :!:

    Vehement:
There’s always been various levels of involvement, in any ‘group’. There are the devout believers in the old school, ie- Tridentine Mass; then there are the Vatican II watered-down types; then there are the whacko ecumenical let’s have Tibetan monks in to desecrate our altar/church types. Just like with political parties, infiltration happens. Just like with tea parties, people with other agendas snake in and pull their crap, to alter the direction of the group. And sadly, just like with Jenkins, people focus on personal glory or political power instead of doing what is right….

  • ji

Wow arresting a catholic priest, who is protesting abortions, at a catholic university whose religion disavows abortions.
Do as we say, not as we do – Liberals

I am pro-life but believe that he had the right to speak at the school.

There is no different set of rules for the president than there is for the common citizen in this regard. Many people who support abortion have stepped foot on campus and you can be sure that they’ve had debates in the classroom. It is a college university after all.

Screw the GOP! Screw the LEFT and thier socialistic views! Screw Notre Dame and thier caving! Screw our Prez. and his views when a “fetus” leaves a body it should die. God Bless those babies who lived! God Bless Keyes, he’s probably a racist tho’. What color were those unborns?
What world are we living in? Someone can decide that a “fetus” or a “baby” is viable, because that person is wanted?
I’m old, and I heard that the whole abortion thing and sex ed would stop this “unplanned pregnany thing” 20 years ago. Women wouldn’t have abortions as a form of “birthcontrol”. Yet, here we are! Hmmm…what’s the governments next big answer?

  • JayMS

I guess what swayed me was actually seeing a vid on youtube of a suction abortion. No screeching, slogans, signs, etc. Just a very matter-of-fact video with a description of what was going on.

The woman in the vid was some bull-dyke feminazi and the doctor had performed thousands of abortions. After the vid the bull-dyke stopped pitching for abortions and the doctor never did another abortion again.

  • BTJoe112

Just a question, Did legalized abortion reduce crime? It was written that it did in a book called Freakonomics.
I wonder if some whitehole who got knocked up in Africa and who had her baby there,If it crossed her mind.hummm!

  • Joe Mudd

First it’s the cops just doing their jobs —- next it will be the military just doing what they’re told by an administration with an agenda and we all prop it up by doing what we’re told.
Move along nothing to see here.
The 60′s hippies and all the wannabee’s are the ADMINISTRATION that they fought against back then.
