Useful Idiot Steele: GOP Needs To Stop “Slammin’ And Rammin’” On Sotomayor

The Plumb Line:

RNC chair Michael Steele, guest-hosting on Bill Bennett’s radio show early this morning, repeatedly distanced himself from Republicans and conservatives who have been harshly attacking Sonia Sotomayor, saying the assault risked damaging the party.

Steele also appeared to suggest that such attacks were a non-starter because the liberal media, and MSNBC in particular, would use them to damage the GOP.

In what seemed like an effort to distance the party from claims that Sotomayor is “racist” and an “Affirmative Action” pick, Steele repeatedly said that Republicans should be hailing the historic nature of Obama’s pick.

“I’m excited that a Hispanic woman is in this position,” Steele said. He added that instead of “slammin’ and rammin’” on Sotomayor, Republicans should “acknowledge” the “historic aspect” of the pick and make a “cogent, articulate argument” against her for purely substantive reasons.

Steele warned that because of the attacks, “we get painted as a party that’s against the first Hispanic woman” picked for the Supreme Court.

“We don’t need to play this the way the Democrats have played it in the past,” Steele said, adding that Republicans can’t do this because they don’t have the “liberal media” on their side, the way Dems did. Said Steele: “MSNBC will rip everything we have to say up into shreds.”

Steele didn’t mention Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich, the two leading proponents of the racially-loaded attacks on Sotomayor. It’s a reminder of Steele’s predicament: He knows how badly these attacks are damaging the party and how neatly they play into the hands of Dems, but he can’t call out the leading figures launching those attacks, because that risks infuriating the base and feeding the meme that the GOP is hopelessly divided.

***** The Death of the Republican Party, May 29th, 2009 *****

    OK.

    Games over.

As a lifelong Republican I need to concede a blind spot in my perception of my party, and Steele represents that party.

The party just told him, to tell us, that we should slit our wrists. That we should sit down and ignore the most important, long lasting appointment a president makes is ludicrous. That we should ignore a Racist, Marxist (La Raza), Radical Feminist Supreme Court Nominee at a time of Historical Crisis is criminal.

I’ve given Steele, and the RNC, WAY too much of the benefit of the doubt. It’s clear his masters are 100% RINO’s, not Elephants. I’ve been hoping the RNC gets it’s act together, because a 3rd Party run was suicidal. It would now seem the Republican Party itself is suicidal. In a fight to the death, you do not pull a punch. Steele just pulled the RNC’s power punch in a bare knuckle fight to the death.

Steele needs to be FIRED in a very public way, or the Republican Party needs to be left behind.

    God I hate this.

The late George Putnam, a lifelong Democrat, conservative (remember John F. Kennedy would be considered a Republican today), radio and television personality and California political touchstone in California always said; “I did not leave the Democrat Party, the Democrat Party left me” .

I now, truly, understand what he was saying.

I did not leave the Republican Party, the Republican Party left me.

If it won’t stand up for the Constitution, then there is no reason to support it at all.

This is the ideal time to form a third party, as it would give the conservative Reagan base something to vote FOR. Right now, the RINO’s thinking is “where will the Base go?” In this they arrogantly think they can take the Base for granted.

A third party will kick the foundation out from under the RINOs as it will give the Base somewhere to go. In so doing it will reduce the GOP to nothing more than its good-for-nothing Rockefeller Country-Club wing, making it irrelevant.

At the same time, the Democrats who voted for Obama and are now getting their eyes opened to who/what he is will also have a new place to call home. (According to Gallup, voters who identify themselves as “Democrats” have plummeted to 24% as Obama reveals his true identity. In short, the Democrat Party is going through the same upheaval as the GOP.)

This is the perfect time to form that third party.

Glad you guys are finally coming around…lookup America’s Independant Party started by Alan Keyes!Republican Party died with Reagan. The Gipper was the last true Republican

    • sassysuz

Forget any existing third parties and it has to have someone who folks have shared beliefs and core values, non comprimising. I won’t support anything Alan Keys is the head of.

  • Steven D

Steele, didn’t take long for you to put your spine back in the closet, did it?

  • unkaglen

Ahhhh ……..the RINO rears his ugly head..

That’s the end of Steele for me, and I have met him personally. I guess he isn’t interested in how Sotomayor orchestrated more lack of consequences for minority fire fighters who are being allowed to be immorally, unprofessionally, unethically, being manipulating a promotional test in Connecticut. This is because no minorities achieved high enough scores on a promotional exam so no one is being allowed to be promoted off the test results(white firefighters).

So we have transitioned minorities from being equal to far superior and untouchable, unaccountable and fomented racists, ungrateful for the sacrifices and love of whites during the 1950s forward.

That is the pinnacle of racial hate, disembowel your liberators. Real nice. But dont say anything, you will be accused of racsim.

Step back and step down before you end up a grease-spot!

Republicants will never win another election…..until the real conservatives kick all these pussies out of office.

  • YERMOM

    fuck steele

  • solomonpal

I will only vote Republican selectively.

  • Chuck O

If the Republican party continues to put up moderates, they will continue to lose elections. Start putting up conservatives and you will start winning. It shouldn’t be that hard to figure out but what do I know? I’m just your average conservative.

  • TerryTate

Gee, and heretofore I was under the impression that the Republican party was supposed to have a value system, where the content of the person’s character actually mattered, not the color of their skin.

I guess, in a way, Michael Steele is just trying to live up to the media’s portrayal of Republicans as siding with racists.

    Good job Michael.

Way to turn the Republican party into middle of the road Democrats.

Ok I’ll try and keep this short. “slammin’ and rammin’”? Is this kind of ‘speech’ supposed to make the Republican Party more appealing to the leftist-indoctrinated youth of America? My apologies folks… my state is so far left now that this kind of Republican politician, i.e. Michael Steele, is what passes for an ‘extremist’ Conservative here in Maryland (when he was our Lieutenant Governor the leftists hated his guts). Sadly, our ‘established’ party has been kowtowed to the max.

If the very worst of all possible nightmare scenarios is to befall us… then I vote for scorched-earth tactics. Screw this shit… I’ll see them all in Hell!

    • Paslode

I rather see them in Hell than kiss their asses.

  • Paslode

I am sick of these turds.

I think I will call the Election Office next week and tell them to change my party affiliation to Independent or empty space.

We need to all band together in one voice and demand Steele OUT and enforce it

This story is a prime example of why the GOP continues not to receive checks from me.

    • Specter

Yep, they can get their money from leftists as far as I’m concerned. They probably already are.

    • unkaglen

I quit sending them when they pushed for amnesty….

  • Mark Gibbons

hey steele- you suck it must suck to lead like you, fuck you, you fuckin fuck, when you get your ass thrown out as leader take the rest of the rhinos with you.

  • Tusk

Did you see this asshole at the WH press dinner?

Tancredo or Duncan Hunter should head up the RNC, not this Obamabot RINO. We are fucking doomed if we can’t find a better alternative than this dope.

  • Specter

Go the FUCK AWAY YOU ASSHOLE

  • JayMS

Steele’s point is that the GOP does not want to piss off Hispanic voters by going after this dumb bitch full bore. Of course the dem propaganda machine will try to use opposition against Sotamayor to drag out the racism bogeyman.

This is not about balls, spine, courage, etc. Steele has a legitimate concern. The GOP has lost Hispanic voters in the last 2 elections.

I see Steele’s concern but respectfully beg to differ. I would still go after Sotamayor and all other Obama policies with guns blazing. Public opinion is fickle and can profoundly shift in a short time. If we have hyperinflation or another tall building collapses in flames does anyone here think the Hispanic voting bloc is going to give a fuck about filling some diversity quota on the supreme court?

    • DesignR

At his point, Steele is Neville Chamberlain announcing he can work with Heir Hitler.

It is a weak strategy and will end in failure.

The Hispanic vote is no different than ANY other.

The Conservative, Constitutional and Capitalist machinery feed families better than any other. When they understand the difference, they will all become Conservatives and fight alongside us. People are people no matter the color or background. They all love their families and want what is best for them.

Only the most cynical and brain washed among them will disregard suicidal policies.

Have some faith in humanity, or we are ALL lost.

  • Cold Dead Hands

Fuck worrying about Hispanic voters. Our goal ought to be attracting the dumbass whites who voted for Fraudbama to assuage their white guilt. When whites who voted for him start to comprehend that their retirement funds are vaporizing, and inflation will soon be skyrocketing, and their crumbling cities will be ablaze and dominated by black thugs, maybe they’ll consider voting against the Black Marxist or his little helpers. I believe when all is said and done, 0bama will set back blacks to where they were in 1950.

  • Specter

This guy isn’t working to win back the once White House and Congress. He’s fucking working to conform Republicans into Rhino’s.

This motherfucker is so planted it’s farthagin ridiculous.

  • unkaglen

I swear he used to be conservative, but it appears he has started listening to the blue bloods with the “big black wallets”.Just like the rest in this former shell of a party,he has sold his soul for thirty pirces of silver and a “wink and a nod”from the D.C. insiders.I fear this party is done, but from their ashes will rise a true conservative party. We true patriots have had a freakn’ belly full of these back stabbers and will watch them as they burn in Hell.

And those organizations are the Fronts for probably 12 satanists currently humping virgins off the coast of Rhode Island on a yacht.

    I donno, I jus donno.

Any contributions should be sent to individual races throughout the county.

Pick a Republican Senatorial candidate an/or a Republican Congressional candidate and send a couple of bucks.

Rignt now Nevada comes to mind. Dashle was ousted. We can do it.

  • brityank

Steele – why don’t you go where you’re wanted, and join your buddy Specter?
