TV Newser: A Syracuse University professor is blaming his public feud with Bill O’Reilly as the reason he was denied tenure last week, reports Inside Higher Ed. “In many academic circles, being attacked by Bill O’Reilly might be a badge of honor,” writes Inside Higher Ed. “A Syracuse University professor, however, charges that he was denied tenure last week in part because of the fallout over his on-air disputes with the Fox television star.” Boyce Watkins appeared on CNN, among other outlets, several times after O’Reilly’s comments about lunching at Sylvia’s in Harlem. Throughout those discussion, Watkins called Fox News contributor Juan Williams an “eternal happy negro” and compared O’Reilly to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

    Exactly Grizz! This whole “poor me” bullshit is keeping racism alive as a topic. Only people *of color* are allowed to claim to be the victim of racism. Being excluded from establishments and participation in different events/programs because I am white can’t possibly be racist, can it?

    … I try to avoid Bill O’Reilly. And I’ll tell you why.

    When he began “opining” against Rush Limbaugh, for reasons that escape me for the moment, I was ‘too through’ with Bill. But I do recall that Bill jumped on the drive-by-media bandwagon when it was to his benefit to do so.

    I recall some years back, when — to me — race relations were seemingly on the mend. Then along comes “2 Live Crew”, along with other ‘gangsta rappers’, and proceeds to shoot everything to hell.

    People have long memories when it comes to personal and interpersonal relationships. This is why some Blacks will NEVER get over their rascist feelings. The stories of past injustices told by family elders will burn in their psyche FOREVER. For many Blacks, the White Man continues to be the Bogeyman.

    I believe that because most Whites do not hearken from such a painful past, they are more inclined and likely to initiate a hand of care and friendship to most Blacks. This, I believe, was significant in the Obama election.

    Yet there is a natural recoil experienced by most humans when the very *public* mysogyny of certain rappers is foisted onto the public. This ‘recoil’ is rarely — if ever — addressed, and sets the human relations clock back for generations.

    Mr. Obama has never addressed BLACK rascism in specific, meaningful terms; terms that point the way out of the morass that threatens to engulf this Nation. True to his Socialist form, his modus operandi is to upend EVERY sacred institution of this great Nation, while “wordsmithing” his way through real problems.

    I believe that if African Americans don’t immediately drop the ‘whitey’ canard; i.e., the White Man is cause of ALL my problems–that truly ominous and sinister days lie ahead for Blacks as an identifiable group. Mexicans, Asians, Middle Easterners, Africans (yes, that’s right), and Indians all stand at the ready to snatch the bounty and rightful inheritance of this Great Land from Blacks.

    To all the “Reverend Jeremiah Wrights” of this land, I say this: “… Its in the Bible” …

    Deuteronomy 28:68  And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt (Slavery) again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it (the United States) no more again: and there (in a foreign land) ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen (slaves), and no man shall buy (free) you.

    The parenthetical comments are my own … but I think you get the picture.
