Zero Pollution Motors: Company Looks To Bring Air-Powered Cars To U.S.
AP: Most car companies are racing to bring electric vehicles to the market. But one startup is skipping the high-tech electronics, making cars whose energy source is pulled literally out of thin air. Zero Pollution Motors is trying to bring a car to U.S. roads by early 2011 that’s powered by a combination of compressed air and a small conventional engine. ZPM Chief Executive Shiva Vencat said the ultimate goal is a price tag between $18,000 and $20,000, fuel economy equivalent to 100 miles per gallon and a tailpipe that emits nothing but air at low enough speeds.

I can see how this idea might have merit, but what happens when a car full of compressed air tanks is in an accident? I can’t imagine it would be pretty. Also, compressors use a lot of current to run. You’re still pulling a lot of juice from the grid to fill the tanks.
those air tanks could potentially become torpedoes in an accident.
Other than that, it needs to be made much cooler looking. it’s totally queer looking.
You compress it with electricity. Currently we get the bulk of our electricity by burning coal. So, in reality, you shift the ‘problem’ of emissions from your car to the power plant.
In reality, CO2 is not an issue. In fact plants and trees love it, and give us oxygen in return.
Next we will be able to get drunk ,blow into a tube and drive on alcohol. And of course a convertor box we can piss in and run the car on that, next we will be able to fart……………….
Think i will go sit in my V-8 pickup with the engine running
Well my car runs on the souls of muslim children since of course, I as an American is like all evil and shit.
it would probably require at least a two stroke engine to compress the air and would require the actuator to be serviced often but along these lines i would think a high pressure hydraulic system would be more plausible in the U.S.
fluid power looks like the only option to the internal combustion engine
this is a hell of a lot better than “electric cars”
i am interested
Why don’t we just eat some bean burritos and hook the engine up to our assholes?
Oh wait. There’s the animal flatus tax.
it might be usefull for like municipal vehicles and taxi cabs… and for the greenpeace activists
I’m buying a 1971 Oldsmobile 442… with a 455 ci engine.
He can blow it (The Air) out his ass. <-
