Brown On The Brink: Rebellion In Party Signals His Imminent Resignation
SKY News: An email is circulating among Labour MPs encouraging Gordon Brown to step down as Prime Minister.
Sky News has obtained a copy of the email which says:
Dear Gordon,
Over the last 12 years in government, and before, you have made an enormous contribution to this country and to the Labour Party, and this is very widely acknowledged.
However we are writing now because we believe that in the current political situation, you can best serve the Labour Party and the country by stepping down as party leader and prime minister, and so allowing the party to choose a new leader to take us into the next general election.
Yours,
XXXX
It then asks MPs to sign the letter and send it to a particular email address. It will only be “published” once 50 MPs have signed it.
The email was revealed on the day that Communities Secretary Hazel Blears said she was resigning from the Cabinet and the day before the local and European elections.
Sky’s chief political correspondent Jon Craig said: “This is circulating amongst Labour MPs and it shows that the talk of a plot is real.
“My understanding is that the plan is to have this campaign ready to go after the results of the local council elections on Friday or possibly on Monday after the results of the European elections.
“It is all being done anonymously at the moment.
“At some stage, people will have to come out of the wood and identify themselves otherwise no one will take it seriously.”

We go to the polls tomorrow for EU and local elections (England).
Labour will be decimated and UKIP and BNP will pick up votes.
We do not have an effective govenment at the moment and in some ways the UK resembles a failed state.
Ah, socialism! (helped by greed from all parties it has to be said).
Ho Hum.
YERMOM wishes it was that easy on this side of the pond.
Hey Gordy-Boy, now do ya see what happens when you “channel” Neville Chamberlain?
Bye-Bye MORON.
