Washington Times:

The leader of Canada’s New Democratic Party Jack Layton linked the future of his country’s universal health care system to President Obama’s public health care program in a Washington speech Wednesday.

Many conservative groups have pointed to Canada’s universal health care system as a reason to keep the American health care system in the private sector. Americans for Prosperity Foundation’s campaign, for example, launched an ad campaign last week featuring a Canadian woman named Shona Holmes who was diagnosed with brain tumor and says in the ad the only way she survived was by seeking treatment in America.

Mr. Layton accused groups like this of “sowing the seeds of fear with myths and lies about Canadian health care” and said the futures of the two health care programs are dependent on each other in an address delivered at the Woodrow Wilson Center.

“There is no doubt that strengthening of our system in Canada will be easier with public health care in the United States,” Mr. Layton said. “Just as Canada built a strong public health system through a united effort, and just as America must do the same, so too can we strengthen and reinforce the health of all of our citizen through partnership.”

When reached for comment Ms. Holmes quipped “The only partnership we have is a place for desperate Canadians to run.”

Mr. Layton’s trip comes at the beginning of an aggressive effort to ramp up grassroots support for President Obama’s health care plan by Organizing for America. While in Washington, Mr. Layton met with Democrats on Capitol Hill as well as White House Communications Director Anita Dunn.

In the run-up to Mr. Layton’s visit, his party sought fundraising solicitations using an image of an economy-class plane ticket from Ottawa to Washington for the Canadian leader. In the bottom left corner it said: “SUPPORT OBAMA’S FIGHT FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE. PROTECT MEDICARE BACK IN CANADA.”

Well Jack Layton, the following is not a myth or a lie.

My sister watched her 106 year old father-in-law die of NOTHING but dehydration in a managed care facility in Vancouver, B.C..

The old guy was ambulatory & his mental faculties WERE ALL THERE…5 DAYS BEFORE HE DIED!

He had a bout of flu and the staff was required because of his age not to treat him for the illness…NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO GIVE HIM FLUIDS!

Nor were family members allowed to remove him.

He had become a “ward of the State”, the state determined that it wasn’t cost effective to prolong his life despite that 24 hrs earlier he was walking around the place without a cane or aid of any kind and chatting-up the staff.

He was the 4th generation of men in his family (Chinese) to live well over 100.

Mr Layton, THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS BELIEVE NO MATTER HOW OLD ONE IS, YOU DON’T INTENTIONALLY END THEIR LIFE…YOU KNOW…KILL THEM!!

AND THAT’S THE REASON WHY, MR. LAYTON, YOU SIR, ARE A MONSTER!!!!!!!!!

NOW GET THE FUCK OUTTA MY COUNTRY!!!!

Once our system is gone it will be almost impossible to get it back.
It will mean hundreds of doctors will lose their jobs, because most wouldnt be able to make a good living being a doctor: See USSR.
Where most had to get a 2nd job, while being a doctor.
AND where the government decides EVERYTHING.
All I can say is go to Mexico. Their health care in some ways, is better than ours. I have used it and am still healthy as can be.
They have the latest medical equipment. I have found most of the time, its more modern than the US.
BECAUSE the Mexican government doesnt interfere.

Medical care will become just like Amtrak. Can’t wait. I have had an HMO for 20 years that is perfect, efficient, reactive and accountable. What’s the issue? Privatize national health care and the capitalist drive to produce and create and expand and hire people remains intact.

Socialism in private business will collapse the entire country-as we are seeing.

“Mr. Layton accused groups like this of “sowing the seeds of fear with myths and lies about Canadian health care” Mr Layton should know all about sowing seeds of fear with myths and lies…. that is his stock in trade.
Ms Holmes statement “The only partnership we have is a place for desperate Canadians to run.” is all too true… I personally know of many who have in desperation crossed the border to find healthcare in the US, an option which will obviously disappear under the new muslim president.
Don’t listen to a leftist political advocate who has everything to lose on the issue like Layton… many every-day-Joe Canadians will tell you how completely screwed up our system is. I personally will not go to a hospital unless my or my children’s life depends on it – a visit to our local emergency room can take over 6 hours, with one doctor to oversee dozens of patients. This is what you have to look forward to under Barry-care  :???:

    Fuckin’ Canuck.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. “Bye, bye Miss American Pie.”
