Many have claimed the federal government was playing fast and loose with the rules surrounding its takeover of General Motors and the circumstances surrounding the selection of which dealerships would remain open and those that wouldn’t. Fox News’ Gretchen Carlson came forward with evidence of this through a personal account of dealership closings.

Carlson, a co-host on the Fox News Channel’s morning show “Fox & Friends,” appeared on Glenn Beck’s June 9 program and questioned the logic behind the decision reached by the government and General Motors (GM) to close down a dealership that has been in her family for 90 years.

“I’d like to get a hold of the car czar too,” Carlson said. “Never did I think personally that I would need to get a hold of him, but now I do because my parents have owned a General Motors dealership in Anoka, Minn., for 90 years and they were terminated last week and they would like to know why. They would like to know why from the car czar.”

According to Carlson, the dealership had exceeded the obligations set forth by GM for its dealerships, but were still facing a shutdown which would mean laying off 80 of the dealerships employees.

“It said you would no longer be part of the new General Motors,” Carlson said. “Apparently there was criteria, but let me tell you this Glenn – they haven’t lost money. They are a profitable operation. Their objective, they met at 103 percent. You can’t go higher than that and yet they are being terminated. There are 80 employees who will not have jobs anymore. My parents lay awake at night worrying about those employees.”

Carlson cited one dealership that was allowed to stay open that involved a government official.

“Many, they all had a meeting yesterday in the state of Minnesota, but here is the ironic thing – there was a dealership that was closed in the first round in the metro area of Minneapolis. That person was able to get a meeting with GM executives last week for an hour and a half. And lo and behold Monday night, that dealership is back in business. Now you tell me this isn’t about who you know and who you can speak to.”

According to the Jun 9 Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., intervened in the shutdown of a dealership outside of Minneapolis – Bloomington Buick Pontiac GMC, owned by Paul Walser. Following her involvement, GM had reversed it decision and determined the dealership would remain open.

“There was government intervention with a political person who was able to set up that meeting,” Carlson said. “But I thought this was supposed to be that you were closing dealerships because they weren’t performing.”

The dealership shutdown also came with strings attached. The “Fox & Friends” host said GM threatened to not honor warranties on the remaining vehicles sitting on the dealerships’ lots following the shutdowns if the owners failed to agree to General Motors’ terms.

“It gets worse because by Friday (June 12) terminated dealers by GM have to sign what’s called a wind-down agreement,” Carlson explained. “And if they don’t sign it, they have a gun to their head – they will not get any warranties on any of the vehicles that are currently sitting in their lots, which the judge [FNC contributor Andrew Napolitano] tells me is illegal.”

Napolitano confirmed that and said federal law required GM to fulfill the obligations under the warranty and such agreements can not alter those terms. But one of the parts of the agreement being forced on those auto dealers according to Carlson was a “gag order” that forbids public discussion of the agreement.
“There’s also a gag order in the agreement – a gag order that says you can not speak to anybody other than your employees unless you get GM’s consent,” Carlson said.

    Fuck me people, get ready.
The shit storm is building, it’s outside of your gut feelings now. It’s in front of us. Our government is openly engaging in tyranny. I’m not fucking afraid to say it, if you are, join the leftists.

Supreme Court has burned the Constitution. They allowed the abrogating of contracts. This will not stop unless we the people stop it. Congress has ignored us for far too long.

Active seems inactive to me at this point. It’s going the same way as The Right American. I’m not trying to disparage the movement, i’m just sayin the movement better get moving. 2010 will be too late, they’re taking over and nobody seems to give a fuck.
It’s time to rise up America.

  • AFITgrad86

I agree with Specter. If we do not do something soon there won’t be muck left to save!

Obama and the Dems are ramming their socialist agenda down peoples throats and punishing their opponents at the same time. “Dealergate” is a huge scandal that ultimately will explode in their faces. The heavy handed tactics of the Obama crowd remind me of the Sean Connery line in the Untouchables “… that’s the Chicago way”.

Time to shout it from the rooftops “I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!”

I never thought that citizen’s militias would be a possibility in the United States but one thing is clear, Obama, et al., will not go quietly into the night giving this Nation’s greatness away to any country. The lens was fuzzy just 120 days ago but is becoming clearer by the day.

I do think that the majority of Americans who don’t follow politics day to day are wondering why they are not feeling this stimulus. They also are hearing the whiffs of wimp regarding N. Korea, Israel and Iran and this is only going to get worse.

I have the succinct feeling that Obama could very well be impeached as the waters are beginning to change course rapidly especially if we’re hit again which is just a matter of time. I agree with Spector. How long before it’s too late? That’s the question and the last group of ingrates to know is sitting in the Whitehouse. I didn’t think it possible that the American people would hand our country over to children but they did. I’m really struggling with this one and can also tell you that if I see……lets just leave it at that for now.

    To summate, BE PREPARED.

  • PatriotofPast(Thomas)

If Obama and The United States Govt. wants to go into the Automotive Industry, and the Banking Business. As a “Taxpaying” American Citizen. I would like to see any and ALL Contracts, Agreements and Financial Documents. As a Taxpayer/Investor in General Motors, Chrysler, Citi Bank, Wells Fargo ect.
I would like to see the RETURN on MY INVESTMENT! That IS MY BUSINESS.
Those Corporations that accepted TAXMONEY, from the PEOPLE of THE UNITED STATES have an Obligation NOT TO THE GOVT., But to the TAXPAYERS of AMERICA! So Fess Up, :gun:

  • Minuteman1

the People, or enough of them, better fucking wake the fuck up. :gun: :gun: :gun:

  • MD_Vet

You Know… I hate to say it but “the people” aren’t going to “wake up”!!!

Their throats have been slit while they were sound asleep dreaming about “hope and change”.

  • windigo

This just keeps getting more personal….

  • uclimbit

It is getting “more personal” because it is affecting more and more of us. It is so difficult to have worked your whole life and believed then watch it turn into a lie; savings, retirement, taxes, healthcare, new fees, reckless federal spending, weakening global posture, expanding government. These broad issues affect every one of us sooner or later and our quality of life. The SCOTUS should have been apolitical and not interfered with the established bankruptcy laws. The government should not be in the affairs of private business.

  • DoubleTap

Sadly, many people who are just coasting along and swallowing this load of bull think this is great! They want to see all these dealers closed because they are “Rich Fat Cats”. Go read some of the lib sites and that is exactly what is being said. They deserved to close because they are the republican rich who are stealing the bread from their children’s mouth.

I have come to honestly believe that the liberal communist education system we have endured for the last 50 years is responsible for this warped thought process.

Americans are no longer able to think or reason and they are unable to consider any topic with an objective point of view. They are willing and for the most part to be led around by the ring in their noses to the trough where they are freely drinking the Kool-aid. Anything is fine as long as someone else does the thinking for them. They are willing to sell their soul, their liberty and their freedom for a new Blackberry and a big screen TV.

Pathetic. I am so ashamed to admit that these wasted minds are Americans. Not one of these liberal sheep has the right to call themselves anything but fodder.

  • j03

This has happened too many times in history to ignore.
    It can happen here.

Who in the fuck would inpeach him? The good guys don’t have the votes or the balls to do anything.

Is there somewhere to get a list of closed dealerships? I might be a bit behind the curve here…

Pat, are we contacting these dealerships? Let us violate the gag orders. Let us shout. Let us stand at those dealerships and shout out loud.

Maybe the minutemen will be car sales people.

I say this is where we stick the knife in, draw the line in the sand and say NO MORE.

    Pat?

When I’m in my truck going to work,I’m listening to Mark Levin or Hannity.I feel like I’m the only one on the freeway listening to this stuff.Everybody is texting, booming,or grooving.Nobody knows or gives a fuck what has happened or is going to happen.I think NO MATTER WHAT obama does,(and I agree with Rush- that obama has the same agenda as Al Queda) he won’t be impeached. The state owned media will never turn on their benefactor, their beloved. They will do everything in their increasing power to hide the truth no matter what. This is historical people. That is, if this history makes it past the government editors.

I believe obama has been sent to us directly from Hell as punishment for what we have allowed this culture to become. He is the embodiment of it.Look at what he has done to us so far, look how they cheer him on for doing so.As an example, untill this usurper had risen to power, racism was pretty much a dead issue. If not dead,at least terminal.A few die-hard rabble rousers kept at it,but for the most part,it had slipped into the back of the American file cabinet.NOW look at it. My god, that is all that is on anybdy’s mind when it comes to politics.Unless of course the subject is white people. Then it’s anything goes, and that is perfectly FINE.Guess what, whites don’t care! WTF? How about that I’M OFFENDED when somebody labels me or my fellow whites “supremists”,or “terrorists” .Mabey WE should start rioting..it’s damn sure ok when everybody else does it.

Sometime I feel even another 9/11 would not wake people up enough.I’m sure the katie courics and matt lauers of the world will be quick to spin that into a “right wing terrorist coup” or “white supremist militia attack”. Anything to protect their dear leader. And ya know what?People would sit there like zombies, worried that they might not be able to watch Idol that night, and fucking BELIEVE them!! The SRM would knowingly sacrifice this still fabulous land of opportunity in order to keep from eating crow. They can all eat shit as far as I care, and i woud gladly be the first in line to shove it down their little commie throats. For now tho,I am absolutly DUMBFOUNDED!

Sorry for the rant,I’m so mad.

“Term Limits” is GREAT !!

  • Hawkerdriver(Pisson the Koran)

EXACTLY what I was trying to say earlier. Well said.Thank you.

  • Xavier

“Those Corporations that accepted TAXMONEY, from the PEOPLE of THE UNITED STATES have an Obligation NOT TO THE GOVT., But to the TAXPAYERS of AMERICA! So Fess Up, :gun:”

Ya, just like our political leaders answer to us “the taxpayers”

  • Saxon

They`ll take over the major food production ,farmimg corps and the remaining small and mid sized farms as well. It`s going to be one tough ride.

  • TonyGeo

Whats scary to me and maybe I’m wrong is the same people who voted this administration in are the ones getting screwed also.(UNIONS,RETIREES WHO THOUGHT THEY HAD IRT BAD UNDER BUSH)He is not only screwing the opposition but the people who backed him.If you are ever in battle and come up against an enemy like that you better be well prepared. It may already be to late to turn the car around.

  • Tim Roesch

I believe they have already started with small farms. I seem to remember some legislation proposed that makes small farms almost untenable. I can’t quite remember what it was…something about forcing small farms to obey some sort of set of regulations…

Someone help me here…I am floundering…

  • marsha

You are right Tim. A few months back they were creating legislature that would stop ANYONE who sells any type of produce to have to comply with very stick standards and would have to be inspected by the FDA(I think was the dept.) whoever is in charge of making sure our food is safe. Cause we all know what a great job they have been doing on that front. But back to what you ask. The goal it seemed was to stop even a small farm that only sold at a roadside or sm. weekend farmer’s market to have to have a certificate which in order to have would cost them a fortune to have — end results no one but large farms could sell anything to the public. So they inturn controll the price of corn-wheat-beans-tomatos ect. get the ideal of where they want to go with this.

  • Tim Roesch

Thank you Marsha, you are correct.

Here’s an idea. Use the Cloward Pivens Theory against the Obama government. This theory was a theory about how to overload a government (capitalist) with Welfare Mouths until the government could no longer feed the proles and the proles would rebel, destroy the government and the new government could be made that would then redistribute wealth to prevent future ‘rebellions’.

We could do the same thing…what if we all went barter? Remove ourselves from the tax system, start up barter systems with food producers, medical professionals, teachers, contracters, etc

The FDA couldn’t inspect everyone. Pull a ‘mass dash across the border to overwhelm border guards’ thing…

Now that would be change we could believe in…

  • CPLViper

Wait … there’s more … the Gubment is now planning on telling farmers what type of crops they are ALLOWED to grow. Goodbye freedom, you will be sorely missed.

  • TennesseeVolunteer

I talked with my cousin, who is an electrician in Ohio. He says OSHA has come out with a long list of fines for worksite violations that make no sense. for instance, you can’t go higher than the second rung on a step ladder without a safety sling- $1000 fine.
He said the requirements for extension cords on the job will raise labor costs exponentially. Some of the fines for things that were not even violations are $10,000 per violation. he has owned his own company for almost 30 years and has never had a lost time accident in his company. He says it is only to raise more money for OSHA and the government.
They are coming at us in a thousand different ways.

  • Josephus

Yeah, people are getting screwed. But the scary thing is: How do they know it?
People are oblivious! The mainstream media buries this shit. I tell my friends about all these things and they are shocked. I’m like: Where the hell have you been?
This entire country is either brainwashed, is being lied to or just doesn’t care. It’s astonishing.

Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009 HR 875
Introduced by Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn), her husband works for Monsanto the leader in herbicides and genetically changed seed. It was in WND by Chelsea Schilling. There is no exclusion for your little back yard garden either.

  • escapedcommieny

You have no idea! As a vendor, spent 10yrs preaching OSHA compliance to construction, industry and the space center. The best joke was Florida Power required a six foot lanyard for personal tieoff when an employee was four foot off the ground. And don’t get me started on the DOT regs for truckers. They have the largest target on their back. Need to slow down America don’t you know. Oh yes, can’t get enough chaos. Minnasota and Indiana made up their own criteria for fatigue, suit pending.
