The vote decided to create Israel but NOT Palestine; instead, the Palestinian people (Arabs who MIGHT have had a claim to being descendants of the Philistines) were granted refugee status. That status was given to the descendants of the 1948 folks. None of the original 1948 or their descendants have been granted citizenship in any of the Arab states. Rather, they have been used as an excuse to attack anything and everything non-sandy that is, not arab).
