$5,000.00 Fine: Michele Bachmann Refuses To Fill Out 2010 Census Due To ACORN Involvement
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann told the Washington Times that she and her family will not be fully filling out the 2010 census forms.
Bachmann, a Republican, said her family will only be indicating the number of people in the household, because “the Constitution doesn’t require any information beyond that.”
Bachmann believes the upcoming census to be “very intricate” and “very personal” and expresses concerns about ACORN’s involvement in the data collection. The community organizing program came under scrunity after charges of voter registration fraud during the 2008 presidential elections.
“I think what the threat of ACORN would be deluding the ballot box and the effectiveness of our vote,” she said. “They will be in charge of going door to door and collecting data from the American public, this is very concerning.”
Bachmann also expressed frustration at the president’s backing for ACORN, saying he has supplied $8.4 billion to ACORN since he has come into office, a number that far surpasses the $53 million given in the past 15 years.
“ACORN has received $53 million from 1994 to today, but now, since President Obama has come into office, he is making available $8.5 billion – with a ‘b’ - to ACORN, an organization that is repeatedly under indictment for voter fraud in multiple states across the country,” Bachmann said. “This is the last organization that should have the taxpayer’s wallet open to them but unfortunately, under President Obama, he is multiplying the amount of money available to them.”
Bachmann has claimed the $8.5 billion available multiple times, but it should be noted that the St. Petersburg Times’ affiliated fact check Web site, Politifact.com, disputes its accuracy.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Bachmann may be in trouble if she fails to fill out the entire census. Spokeswoman Shelly Lowe told the Washington Times that anyone over the age of 18 must fill out all the questions and any such person who refuses to answer “any of the questions” faces a $5,000 fine.

I did the same at the last census.I received several calls telling me I had to complete the census or I would face the consequences.I gave them number and age of occupants in the house and nothing more.Needless to say they never came for me…

The Census used to be done by mail but that was when the population could read and write. It still is in my town and you cannot vote if you fail to return the form, which only asks for names, numbers, ages and occupation. Likewise when you go to the polls you do not get a ballot unless you are on the street list and when you get the ballot you get checked off - can’t vote twice and better not say you are someone who is already checked off. Optical scan ballots with the paper to recount if needed. Pretty tight. Ticks me off something fierce when I head of the lax systems elsewhere.
I’m going with “Return to Sender” or even perhaps sending it unopened to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC with a short note, go pound sand up your ass.

Consider calling your local police to report an illegal form brought to your house by strangers. Report the ACORN assholes to the police and/or call the census bureau to file a complaint (if their switchboard lights up then even those airheads may reconsider their lunacy).

If you get one just send it back in with the number of people. If they come to your house stall and make them sit outside for an hour. Totally waste their time.

The article is incorrect. The fine for refusing to answer any question on the survey is $100. For deliberately falsifying information, $500. There is no provision for imprisonment; such language was struck out of the census laws in the 1970’s, at least, if not earlier. Any census official found to have improperly disclosed or misused census information may be fined up to $5000, imprisoned for up to 5 years, or both. I’ve had two ignorant pieces of acorn trash out at my place. Both when I was at work and Mrs. Tanks was at home. The first one was completely lost….had no idea which road he was even on. When he asked my wife what the name of the street was ..my wife asked him if he was able to read because the street sign was only 25 yards away. He became rather upset at the GPS unit he was holding and drove off. When we talked about it later that day we decided it must have been for the census.
A few days later an older burnt out ponytailed hippie came down the drive and asked ” whats the address of this property ?” To which my wife in her best hillbilly voice ” it ain’t got no address just a PO BOX #….you best be on yer way fer my husband catches you here ” He left my property and parked on the main road to mess with his GPS for a while.
I have to research this before I decide what my response will be.
If you live in a heavy Blue/Dem district, avoid the census like the plague.
If you live in a heavy Red/Republican district, lie & say you have 30 tricycle motors outback.
ACORN will be committing fraud & pumping up Dem census numbers. Dollars & votes are at stake. No malfeasance will be ignored.

I got one of those “surveys” and a couple of post cards telling me to complete and return it promptly.
I did just that. I completed every page, tore it into small quarter size pieces, doused it with the innards of a few permanent markers of different colors, soaked it in garbage for a few days to get the aroma just where I wanted it and then put it in a plastic bag in an envelope and mailed it to the address on the envelope with no return address.
Honest… I sent it in and they can not prove otherwise even with a poly. Let ‘em fine me. After that they can just kiss my entire big fat rosy butt.
A lady suggested we answer the door and start asking them questions about the corruption of ACORN…how many dead people or pets did they falsely register. Did they pay anyone to use their name…Tell them you will not give out personal information to an organization under criminal investigation… continue that line of questioning. She also suggested we ask them for identification and proof they are not illegal aliens.
And of course then all the suggestions and actions everyone above suggested sounds like great fun.
I don’t understand how they can threaten to fine you if the document clearly states (multiple times) that these answers are not required by law. If you don’t volunteer, you don’t have to do. So simple. Why is it so difficult for so (too) many? (And I love the justifications for things — one’s fertility helps predict how many kids will need adoptions….uh huh.)
