Um, if the uninsured motorist’s vehicle has been totaled, then exactly how is impounding their vehicle a penalty for the uninsured motorist?
Essentially, by impounding it, you are removing the vehicle on their behalf, so aren’t you performing the clean up that you want them to pay for, with the item that you are using as payment, which is now a hunk of junk?
So, essentially only law abiding citizens will be penalized, once again.

Huh?? You mean the asshole responsible for the wreck ISN’T ALREADY being charged for the cleanup? I didn’t realize my taxes were being used to cleanup these messes just to advance the learning curve of some hopped-up 17 year old with one hand on his beer and the other on his boner – or worse yet, some beaner on his way home from raping another white girl.
Unfortunately, the “charges” for the cleanup will be ten-fold the actual cost (as it is with any government activity), and will undoubtably include repayment for services that are already provided for with taxes.
