    I have been close to lightning like that twice. The first was as a child the lightning struck a few yards downhill of and in front of me … knocked me on my little 8 legged ass. The second was during a canoe trip up the Alagash in Maine … we were waiting out the storm on a peninsula. While waiting the lightning struck the lake not too far out in front of us. These were both KFBs. Nearby lightning is fun!!!
