Senate Apologizes For Slavery

Not to take sides, but aren’t there a few MORE PRESSING ISSUES these guys should be taking care of? Health care reform, Iranian Elections, Stimulus spending, North Korean aggression, gay marriage, illegal immigration… Does any of that seem more important then apologizing for something your grandfather’s grandfather’s grandfather did 200 years ago???

When will they apologize for abortion?

    They say it all.

    julll2:
“Question Have The African Governments, apologized to the African people. Remember the leaders of the tribes in Africa, actually captured, imprisoned and gave to the slave transporters those who were the ancestors of some of the persons living today. If the African Governments have not apologized then there is no need for this from the United States at this time. In my opinion, this particular tail has wagged the dog, way too long.”

The Dems need to apologize for Jim Crow. Andrew Johnson (yep he was a Dem) George Wallace. Not telling slaves about the emancipation proclamation for years after it was signed. They need to apologize for the Great Society of Lyndon Johnson. After they do all that they can kiss my ass I’m not apologizing for anything :!:

  • Korey

horse shit! how can we be sorry when they put that crap on their own people for 100′s of years longer than Europe or America has. im not sorry cause i didnt inslave blacks. its all the stereotype’s pulling the slavery card.

Maybe Barry the ACORN King could apologize for his own Kenyan slave trading heritage?
    Er… at least half.

How many times have we apologized now?!!?!?!? Jeez get over it!!!!!

My ancestors came from Italy and Ireland in the late 19th and early 20th century, so I don’t apologize for shit!

    GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Democrats would still have slaves if the Republicans didn’t free them….

  • Xavier

“The Democrats would still have slaves if the Republicans didn’t free them….”

And they are trying to bring it back…(ie Gov. Health Care, Welfare, Socialized Banks, etc.)

Keep the population financial enslaved while they continue to lie, cheat & steel tax dollars while simultaneously not paying taxes.

So, when can we expect them to apologize for enslaving the rest of us with this stimulus plan?

  • Minuteman1

I’m sorry as hell we ever brought a slave over here. There.

  • Jay

In my view the entitlement mentality tree is rooted in this old broken down slavery issue. This weeks apology is furtalizer for the tree.

  • PatriotofPast(Thomas)

It is all about Guilt… We are supposed to feel guilty for all the poor welfare recipients, the unemployed black men and women.
I guess we could put them to work in the ship yards, building boats to return them to Africa? Since America is SO BAD !(sarc.)

  • GRIZZ

    The congress is sorry.I agree

    • GRIZZ

      sorry as hell

  • GRIZZ

    The apology tour 2009 continues

  • Tom in CO

DOn’t pin any blame for slavery on me. It’s not my fault. The best way to end racism is to stop talking about it, in the brilliant words of Morgan Freeman.

  • Fred

I sure don’t feel any guilt. I was never a slaveholder. My ancestors sure weren’t. They were Quebecois who migrated, with my paternal ancestor arriving at Southbridge, MA in 1855. My maternal ancestors didn’t get here from Quebec until the 1880′s. My father’s mother from Adrigole in Cork did not get here until before WWI. She sure was not a slaveholder. My wife’s ancestors from Quebec sure were not slaveholders. In fact, our ancestors from Quebec were called “the Niggers of the North.”

There is no one alive today who should apologize.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of any African tribes and especially the Muslims of Africa apologizing for slaving.

The United States Senate is now an embarrassment.

    • Vehement

“The United States Senate is now an embarrassment.”

      Only now?

  • WestCoastGirl

Well, some of my ancestors were slave holders and I’m still not apologizing for anything. I had nothing to do with it. If someone wants to use the “my pappy was a slave” crutch then they are the ones with the problem and a HUGE chip on their shoulder.

its 150 years since this happened, think its time to move on, by the way never owned a slave YET
