“I Thought I’d Seen Every Trick Ever Conceived”: The White House “Jobs Saved” Deception

Were there’s smoke, there’s fire.

We have a monopolist, gangster President, looking to snatch up every revenue stream in America that he possibly can. He’s a slicker version of Rod Blagojevich for Chrissakes. He was the star teacher at ACORN. Bill Ayers declared in the 70′s that his new game plan was to mentor a crypto-socialist into the Oval Office. This would only matter at present if there was a connection between Barack Obama and Bill Ayers. Which there is. So who’s surprised about lies, deceptions, State take-overs and what, again?

CNBC:

After nearly twenty years in Washington I thought I’ve seen every trick ever conceived, but the White House claims of “jobs saved” attributed to the stimulus bill is unrivaled. What causes the jaw to drop is not just the breathtaking deception of the claim, but the gullibility of the Washington press corps to continue reporting it.

News stories from President Obama’s event last week hailing the 100-day mark since the stimulus was passed typically repeated the assertion that the stimulus has already “created or saved 150,00 jobs.” (“And that’s just the beginning,” the President crowed.)

Here’s an important note to my friends in the news media: the White House has absolutely no earthly clue how many job losses have been prevented because of the stimulus bill. None. Not Christina Romer. Not Jared Bernstein. Not Austen Goolsbee.

Each of these distinguished economists would have failed Statistics 101 for making such a laughable claim. But we see them now repeating these assertions to reporters who have seemingly abandoned all skepticism.

Forget that only a trickle of stimulus spending has yet made its way into the real economy. Set aside your views on whether or not the stimulus has any job-saving or -creating impact. And leave for another day the White House’s failing to account for changing macroeconomic conditions and seasonal adjustments.

There is only one necessary data point to make the “jobs-saved” claim: an accurate measure of expected employment levels in the future. That baseline data is critical to measure what the employment level would be in the absence of the stimulus. Unfortunately for the White House, they cannot possibly know that measurement within any degree of confidence — and they know it.

To understand just how unknowable this data point is, it’s not necessary to be an economist, a mathematician or a statistician.

You only need to know this: the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) – thousands of the most professional and rigorous counters and analyzers of labor data in the history of mankind – makes TWO revisions of employment data for their ESTIMATE of the PREVIOUS month! And even then the reports are mere estimates – an annual benchmark survey is required to reset the nation’s payroll baseline.

That is, the best employment statisticians the world has ever known, people whose lives are dedicated to employment data, conducting labor surveys and research, constantly refining their complex models, have a difficult time telling you how many jobs were created in the PAST!

In fact, monthly BLS revisions of past job creation estimates are routinely off by tens of thousands of jobs, and on occasion by more than a hundred thousand jobs. The annual benchmark surveys always reset employment levels by hundreds of thousands of jobs.

And we’re supposed to believe that the Council of Economic advisors have acquired the clairvoyant ability to estimate payrolls in the future? Please.

Romer, Goolsbee and Bernstein are smart people, and yet they haven’t learned from even their recent misadventures with payroll data projections — having already experienced the folly of attempting to project the range of possible jobs levels if the stimulus were passed. Projecting job creation with any degree of accuracy was always inherantly impossible, and should never have been taken seriously.

If I — or even my predecessors in the Clinton Administration — had tried to pull off this ridiculous gimmick we would have been run out of town. I don’t even believe it’s possible to look back and accurately measure the “job-saving” impact of Bush or Clinton Administration policies, let alone to measure in real time, or project into the future.

On Friday the BLS will release its estimate of May job losses. They will also report their revisions for March and April. And White House officials will once again gear up the spin machine on how many jobs have been “saved”.

A self-respecting press corps would vigorously question the White House on their claims. We’ll see if we have one.

I posted this on Twitter last week. Even if you take barry’s number of 150k jobs saved/created, that is over $5.4 million per job.

Don’t hold your breath, Mr. Fratto. They’re too busy getting in line to give fellatio to their chosen one.

Karma. The bills will come due and impeachment will be an accumulation of foreplay by one thing he will do best or neglect deliberately and the climax will be justice from the forefathers. Karma. he has done too much in too short a time to tell me his character is worthy and deeply benevolent. he is a self-driven, ideological mission machine.

I still predict impeachment. Karma has tripple tapped Nancy Pelosi, I am confident. It’s just not being laid out there by the MSM. She is through, and she knows it. A nice book deal and a comfortable path ahead where she doesn’t really have to look anyone in the eye.

Despicable, and the voter is squarely at fault because the voter doesn’t listen, doesn;t think and desires to hear what they want to hear.

Unfortunately, the only way Bambi gets impeached and removed is if the GOP retakes both the House and Senate, AND grows the balls to actually take Bambi on. The former is a definite possibility, but as long as the GOP remains in the grip of a Rockefeller Country-Club Wing who has sworn fealty to Bush’s “New Tone” policy of “working with Democrats,” Bambi won’t get touched.

For example, look who was headlining the GOP “talking tour:” Jeb Bush, and the king of backstabbing “reach across the aisle” RINOs, John McCain. After eight years of W demoralizing and shredding the conservative Reagan Base with his God-awful “New Tone” nonsense of “working with Democrats,” those two shouldn’t be reminding anyone they even exist.

Even worse than his “New Tone” policy was W’s INSANE “Open Border” policy. So antagonizing to 80% of America was this, that someone in protest designed the “Bush Peso:”

The Bush Peso became so popular to stuff into RNC contribution envelopes that it became, for a time, the most popular search item in Google:

      http://www.flickr.com/photos/69918874@N00/147965935/

Accordingly, does anyone still wonder why W single-handedly lost us control of the Congress in 2006? Hint: It was NOT over the Iraq War or the WoT, that’s for damned certain.

And who’s the other big “Open Borders” Bush? Jeb. Have I made my point? So who’s the Einstein that put Jeb out there as the “face of the GOP,” implicitly reminding everyone of W’s “Open Border” fiasco (and, btw, W’s abandonment of those two Border Patrol agents) while he tells the Base to forget about Reagan? WTF???

Remember the 2008 election? McCain hinted that he wanted to “reach across the aisle” to select Joe Lieberman as his running mate. McCain was flatly told that if he chose Joe, he would enjoy the rest of the convention by himself because everyone would go home. So much for “bi-partisanship” as an electable campaign issue. Too bad McCain didn’t take the hint.

Remember then when McCain chose Sarah Palin? The GOP Base was ELECTRIFIED at the choice, the contributions began POURING in, and consequently McCain’s chances at winning the Presidency rose from zilch-point-shit to 50/50 … that is, until W interrupted the election to push Paulson’s Mother of All Spending Bills with his trademark fear mongering, thereby taking the steam of the McCain Express at a critical juncture while simultaneously reminding the GOP Base the two things they despised most about George W. Bush. And so the Magic Marxist won. Thanks for nothing, W.

My point is, if the GOP hopes to win in 2010, the last two people who should be showing their faces in public are Jeb Bush and John McCain. So who’s putting them out there as part of some “talking tour?” Did the RNC learn NOTHING from how Sarah Palin electrified the Base? Or is it that the RNC doesn’t want to face the truth, which is that the electorate has rejected out of hand the Rockefeller wing?

I’m sorry to be in such a foul mood, Vincenzo4. I really wish and pray that Bambi gets impeached and removed in 2010, so that his removal from power is done lawfully and under the Constitution. But for that to happen, the GOP must first return to the purity of Reaganite Conservatism, and that means a power struggle against the Rockefeller Wing. In short, the GOP will never be an effective foil, let alone threat, to the Democrat Party until the Rockefeller Wing that ever wants to “work with Democrats” is exorcised. And that means booting out the entire Bush family, the McCains, Grahmnesty, Colin Powell, etc. ad infinitum.

And that’s assuming we even have until 2010. Considering how quickly Bambi is moving to advance his agenda, something else may be required to save America from him.

Anyway, I’m going to the bar. See you folks later.

That picture alone is disturbing. One of a real man, a leader of a country he loves. The other of a petty, revengful child who is destroying the country WE love.

He looks up like that because he looks down on ALL of us and this country!!!

I think now is the time to spring the trap.

We need spring the trap that is being laid for us.

Would kind of chaos would it cause if rumors began circulating in Illegal Immigrant communities of raids or of free gasoline (just show up at your local police station, show your welfare card and ask for your free gasoline)? What would happen if shia and sunni communities in the US began attacking each other?

My guess is that the Obama Plan involves poking ‘Clingers to Guns and Bibles’ until they snap and attack. What if we spring the trap with a nice, long 10′ pole and step back and wait for the smoke to clear?

    It doesn’t matter.

This administration is never questioned. In fact, everything it does and says is condoned by the MSM.
