20% Unemployment Looming: Detroit Broke City – “With The Obama Administration To Blame”

Michigan’s unemployment rate could hit as high as 20 percent with the Obama administration to blame, one Michigan congressman warned Friday.

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) said that Michigan’s unemployment — already the highest in the country at 14.1 percent — could go even higher as General Motors and Chrysler continue to shed jobs after their government-financed bankruptcies.

“Sadly, we’ve seen estimates, because of the radical restructuring that the auto task force demanded, that this year, Michigan wind up over 20 percent unemployment,” McCotter said during an appearance on a conservative news radio program.

The Wolverine State hasn’t yet exceeded its previous record for unemployment in modern history, when it reached 16.9 percent in November of 1982.

McCotter warned that the effect of such a high jobless number could spread to other states and cities.

“That cascading effect throughout the entire economy — and throughout other states — that rely in many ways on the manufacturing base is going to have devastating effects not only to state government, it’s going to have devastating effects for local govern

    Detroit is reaping what they have sown. If there is anyone left in the city after Obama gets his ass handed to him in the next election, maybe it will get better. One thing is certain, the Ass Clown in Chief has no good ideas, no plan and no hope to offer anyone.       I agree n all counts, the plan is working beyond their wildest dreams. It took many years to get everything in place but now the plan in is full operation mode. I see a time in the not to distant future of several city states, somewhat like medieval Europe, probably ruled by warlords with fighting and trade between them.

      I am beyond disgusted with the my home state of Michigan. You are sadly right, this state has re-elected the incompetence Queen aka (Gransnatch). The MSM were happy to blame then Pres. Bush for our situation, and now we are hearing about what a raw deal poor Jenny got from the previous Gov. Engler. What a crock of shit, Olbermann, the view skanks, and the rest of MSM have succeeded in selling the nanny state to the welfare rats, and with groups like ACORN out there, I just don’t think we will be able defeat the dems without resorting to a little chicanery or just outright taking it all back. I am truly afraid for our republic.

    I work for a supplier in the engineering/construction fields and it is like a ghost town. The stimulus money is not working here in Michigan. Two Penny Jenny our governor has run this state right into the ground. Even with the auto problems she should have been cutting the budget and cutting taxes to keep what employers are left. She has done neither. All she does is blame the former governor for our problems. Well that was 8 years ago. She is a big Obama supporter and is telling us we are going to have “green” jobs! I think Michigan is doomed until someone comes along and saves our once great state. Please don’t blame the rest of Michigan for Detroit. As far as I am concerned Detroit is imploding on itself because of the poor decisions made by the all Democratic leadership from the last 40 years. Good riddance to Detroit!
