I promise, this is my last post on this (maybe  ). Go to this page and click on the largest dots. A lot of these are contracts given for military bases. I know it's important to give money to the military, but was it needed from the Stimulus funds? I thought this type of stuff was given to the military under the general budget. Look at the prices given for these contracts, and tell me that it doesn't take nearly as much money to do some of these things that they are getting massive amounts for.

Don't you think this guy is sleeping on the job?

http://www.whorunsgov.com/Profiles/Earl_E._Devaney

Earl E. Devaney

Current Position: Head of the White House's Recovery Act Transparency and Accountability Board (since February 2009)

As inspector general at the Interior Department, Devaney investigated a Bush administration official charged with lying to Congress about his contacts with disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

Now, President Barack Obama has appointed Devaney to follow another moving target in assuring that the $787 billion economic stimulus package approved in February 2009 fulfills its intended aims. Devaney will head President Obama’s newly-created Recovery Act Transparency and Accountability Board. He’ll work with Vice President Joseph R. Biden, who will oversee the administration’s execution of the stimulus.

Current Position: Head of the White House's Recovery Act Transparency and Accountability Board

Career History: Inspector General at the Interior Department (1999 to present); Director of criminal enforcement at the Environmental Protection Agency (1991 to 1999); Special Agent at the Secret Service (1970 to 1991)

n February 2009, Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus package into law, and soon after he also created the White House’s Recovery Act Transparency and Accountability Board. Devaney was named to head the oversight board.

Devaney’s job will involve monitoring how each dollar in the package is spent, whether the purpose of the money is for transportation initiatives or for health care information technology, or other purposes. Devaney will scrutinize and provide reports on the efficiency and effectiveness of the money.

Coming from the Interior, where he has had to deal with an organization roiled in controversy for several years, Devaney has built a name for himself as a strict and active regulator. In his new post, he will not exactly be getting a vacation.

The Stimulus is as much, or more, of a scam than the TARP funds. These programs have stolen the majority of American's wealth, and the responsible parties need to be investigated, prosecuted, and sentenced for the crimes committed against the American people.

Here's an interesting post from this story on Gateway Pundit:

"The two contracts are for sliced frozen hams weighing 2lbs, we are paying $3.7 million to buy hams from Clougherty Packing, LLC which was bought by Hormel Foods of Minn. in 2004. How will buying pork stimulate the economy? Who the hell knows but I'm sure that somebody will come up with some convoluted, crackpot theory.

By checking out the Recovery.gov site and going to Investments > By Recipient > Contracts you will find some amazing stuff.

To find the "ham subsidy" I specified "Under $10,000,000", "California" and "Agriculture Dept." and came up with 3 contracts in the San Francisco area totaling about $10 million with Del Monte, Corp. for which the purposes are listed as "Unidentified". And as moderately long time readers of GP already know, a large investor in Del Monte Corp. is none other than Paul Pelosi, the husband of the Speaker of the US House."
