    Maybe not a lame attempt to defend–in fact, well maybe so. The intent of the monologue was to reverse the criticism and direct it on the ‘right’ for ‘attacking’ something as ‘trivial’ as jeans—oh, well the bottom line is someone who is supposed to be CIC is a douche.
