Robert Yates, a Nascar team owner, was there giving a speech, and we actually got to talk to him for about an hour after he was done. There’s a lot to be learned from these “old school” Nascar team owners. He was telling us that he never had to take a loan from a bank to keep his business going. He said if a business has to get a line of credit or a bank loan to meet payroll, that the business should just shut down. He had to get out of the business a few years back, because Nascar got too corporate, and they got corrupted. For him to stay in business, he would’ve had to get a $4 million loan just to keep above water. That’s when he said enough was enough. He still builds his legendary high horsepower motors for people, but he doesn’t own his business anymore. He is also working very closely with Ford, trying to make motors more efficient with the fuel we have. He was saying they are working on a 350 horsepower V-6 that gets 35+ MPH. This shows that we Americans can do a better job than oppressive government with helping to get our way of life better and more efficient.

These buyouts and mergers have killed the productivity and are intended to not make anyone think on their own. Not only does our government need to get back down to earth, people’s morals need to also.

Robert Yates has a wealth of knowledge, and a ton of common sense. We all had a great time talking to each other.
