Drop In Phoenix Crime Coincides With Drop In Illegal Immigrant Population

A marked drop in Phoenix-area crime coincides with the recession and a drop in the number of illegal immigrants in Arizona.
Phoenix has seen a 25 percent decline in the number of crimes during the first five months of 2009 compared to the same time period in 2007 when the economy began to slow. Violent crime in Phoenix is down 12 percent, according crime statistics from the Phoenix Police Department.
The Mesa Police Department reports a 19 percent decrease in total crimes for the first half of 2009 versus the first half of 2007, including a 10 percent drop in violent crime. Tempe has seen a 25 percent total drop.
At the same time, the state’s illegal immigrant population has decreased by as much as one-third thanks to the down U.S. economy, tougher enforcement polices by the federal government and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the state’s employer sanctions law which goes after businesses who hire undocumented workers, said Steven Camarota, director of the Center for Immigration Studies.
CIS estimates Arizona’s illegal immigrant population has gone from 579,000 in 2007 to 388,000 this year — 191,000-person drop.
Camarota said enforcement was the initial reason for the drop in illegal immigration in Arizona, but now it’s more due to the lack of jobs for migrants entering the U.S. from Mexico.
Arizona has lost 239,500 — 9 percent of its work force — since the recession began in late 2007, according the Economic Policy Institute. Those job losses have been heavy in industries such as construction, restaurants and services.
CIS estimates the U.S. illegal immigrant population has dropped from 12.5 million in 2007 to 10.8 million now.

As a resident of Phoenix I can sincerely laugh at that, as it is truly much better here since the change. And I’m not just speaking statistically.
There is a reason we have such phrases as ” the American way”, ” as American as apple pie” , etc etc. and it is because there IS an American way and an American lifestyle and common habits,mores, and virtues.
This is what makes up a NATION-ITS SHARED VALUES AND HABITS.
Mexico and every other country has the same- its own distinct flavor.
Bit in America you are a racist populist xenophobic ignorant rube or any other of a number of epithets if you defend American ways and the American Border.
If you defend America’s sovereignty and the sanctity of its territory and laws you are wrong.
ENOUGH.
All it takes to disarm this line of reasoning from those whose real goals is to tear our country down is to IGNORE this line of reasoning when they begin to spout it.

It IS an invasion and the fact that our government does nothing about it is telling, and the sad TRUTH that WE LET THIS HAPPEN SAYS MORE ABOUT US THAN IT DOES ABOUT THOSE WHO SUCCESSFULLY INVADE OUR COUNTRY WITHOUT HAVING TO FIRE A SHOT.
HERE is what a SERIOUS border defense would look like:
Pass the following 3 laws
1)All illegal immigrants have 90 days to wrap things up and exit US territory.Free and safe passage would be provided to the Border via public ground transport to facilitate this.( the cost to give them a bus ride =much cheaper than continually paying their way here)
2)Deploy the Natl Guard of the several states to the Border, where they will erect signs facing south which advise ” US TERRITORY- effective immediately any person attempting to violate the border and US law risk serious bodily injury. USE OF DEADLY FORCE IS AUTHORIZED.The first few INVADERS might not take this seriously, but it wouldnt take long for word to get around.(I guarantee you deadly force would be used vs any American citizen who attempted to elude Mexican authorities while trying to illegally enter Mexico)
3)Make any employment of an illegal alien a Class X felony. Felony applies to owners of businesses and any company officers who should have been aware of the illegal status of the employee.
Felony punishment to include 2 year federal prison sentence for the first offense. Subsequent offenses accrue time. Also, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT ASSET FORFEITURE for those convicted.If some ASSHOLE puts HIS POCKETBOOK ABOVE THE WELL BEING OF HIS NATION take all his toys and eject his miserable family onto the streets. Perhaps they could mow lawns or wait tables, as there would be more of those types of jobs around given STEPS 1 AND 2 ABOVE.

Big surprise - the felony rate of illegal aliens is 15 times higher than that of the US Citizen - that is equal to 1 in 25 persons
Most of the crime was Mexican on Mexican.
