Geithner Asks Congress For Higher U.S. debt limit

I would certainly wish that one of these jokers in D.C. would tell the American People when enough is enough?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner formally requested that Congress raise the $12.1 trillion statutory debt limit on Friday, saying that it could be breached as early as mid-October.

“It is critically important that Congress act before the limit is reached so that citizens and investors here and around the world can remain confident that the United States will always meet its obligations,” Geithner said in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that was obtained by Reuters.

A Treasury spokeswoman declined to comment on the letter.

Treasury officials earlier this week said that the debt limit, last raised in February when the $787 billion economic stimulus legislation was passed, would be hit sometime in the October-December quarter. Geithner’s letter said the breach could be two weeks into that period, just as the 2010 fiscal year is getting underway.

Mid-October. I’ve heard there are going to be some nasty things happening then if this Treasury/administration spending spree is not stopped and reversed.

Geithner has just proved these rumors to be true by wanting the limit raised by then.

If this is allowed to happen, we are going to wake up to an extremely different world mid-October.

“There Are Just Not So Many Manufacturing and Construction Workers Left To Lay Off”

“Physical economist Lyndon LaRouche estimates real U.S. joblessness at 30%, with consequences which will blow out the monetary system by the first half of October.

The Obama Administration should explain why another 72,000 construction jobs disappeared in July, in the face of Obama’s “stimulus” program which he claims includes public works. Obama claimed in late February that the stimulus program would “create or save 3.5 million jobs.” Since then, that many have disappeared instead.”

Is this health care reform a distraction from something more sinister?

    I think so:

The Health Care Smoke Screen - Taking the Heat Off Goldman Sachs

    http://www.goldmansachs666.com/2009/08/health-care-smoke-screen-taking-heat.html

“The ObamaRamaLamas continue. While Goldman Sachs was slithering away with more than $12 billion out the back door, the ObamaRamaLama buffoons were busy stoking the flames about $165 million in AIG bonuses. We saw demonstrations throughout the country, as well as in Europe. All of this over $165 million while Goldman Sachs slithered out with 72 times that amount.

Wake Up America . . . Obama promised CHANGE and he is doing just that. He’s changing the very fabric of America . . . and it will be dark, ugly and violent.

Health Care - Just Another Smoke Screen - Instead of addressing the financial crisis from the roots, Obama and his team of merry banditos are once again throwing up a smoke screen. Do you really think the town meetings and all of the demonstrations are spontaneous? Do you really think the outrage over the pittance of AIG bonuses was spontaneous? Not a chance. If either of them were, than why are we not seeing the same outrage over the billions in bonuses being paid out or the $100 million bonus being paid to just one man that was most responsible for the oil bubble and world oil crisis last year. Crooks paying off crooks. That’s what Congress and the Regulators are all about?”

Geithner: Could I get an increase on my credit card limit? I’m going to need it when I go to Tahiti this Winter.

With taxpayer money they don’t give a damn if they bankrupt this country.

    • I think the credit card analogy here is: he wants to raise the limit on the card now so he can use the card to pay the bill on the card on October.

Seriously, from what he said about “meeting obligations”, I think that is exactly what’s going on.

Remember, the Joker administration hasn’t released the financials yet because they will tell us how bad the budget really is, and isn’t the end of October the end of the quarter or fiscal year?

I know I am probably using the wrong wording for what I just said, and someone please correct me on it, but I think you all get the gist of what I’m trying to say here. This nation is in very dire financial straights, and the administration knows it, as this is in there plan for taking us to a new form of leftist government.

The 2009 fiscal year ends 9/30/09 Scoot and we already have a new form of leftist government.

Proof positive that they know damn well the recession isn’t over, in spite of Obama’s lies on Friday.

Tell a lie long enough and people will believe it.

I guess he’s hoping to improve the economy through perception.
