McCain Booed At Town Hall For Saying Obama Respects The Constitution

August 25th, 2009 (49) Posted By Pat Dollard.

“Doesn’t he know that we still live under a Constitution?” the attendee asked.

“I’m sure that he does,” McCain responded. The crowd, thinking the response was a joke, laughed along.

“No, no. I am serious. I am sure that he does and I’m sure he respects the Constitution,” said McCain.

Shouts of “No” came from the crowd.

“I really do,” McCain pleaded. “I am absolutely convinced of it. I just believe, my friends, that there is a fundamental difference in philosophy and about the role of government. That is why we have competition for public office and competition amongst parties, and competition about different ideas and vision for the future of America. I’m convinced the president is absolutely sincere in his beliefs.”

Gee Mac, wake up! Good grief.

    • martdod

I don’t think McCain is asleep at the wheel here, I believe he knows full well what is going on. Perhaps, a third party is the only answer to our problems or at the least we have to get rid of these bums. It’s time to clean house!

  • http://patriotsforamerica.ning.com/profile/TwanaBlevins Infidel – Twana

If Arizona votes him back in they deserve what they get!

  • MikeP

I appreciate anybody’s service to this country’s military–and it’s no different with McCain. I will always appreciate his suffering and pain in defense of this country, but shut the fuck up with saying this idiot president pretender respects the Constitution of this country.
BHO has no concept of the Constitution–damn near everything he proposes is unconstitutional at its base.
Give it up John–the dems won’t like you either.

    • nospyme

Righto MikeP.The only thing I differ on is that BHO does know the Constitution; he’s merely eviscerating while humming “we shall overcome..”

  • uclimbit

Somebody change McCains diaper, he’s shit himself again.

    • Nanny

I agree 100%. Just go away! We need this health scare proposal to go away and McLame sounds like he is going to work with the Socialists to put something up for a vote. Arizona better wake up and send him into retirement. I do appreciate his service to this country but walking accross the aisle and kissing the Socialists ass has gotten us nothing but to further promote a complete over taking of our constitution and freedoms. John, just go away and shut up!

    • grumpy mechanic

If he doesn’t shut up and stop sucking up to the Joker no one is going to respect his service or anything else he is has done. :gun:

  • ReliableRepublicanNoMore

Both Obama and McCain are CFR puppets.

  • Sully

Mac deserved that reaction. He still would have a better Oval Office occupant.
Having said that, this ‘summer of disconten’ has not reached the level of a US Senator calling for the removal of Barry, which is essentially what Mac accusing a US President of not following The Constitution would amount to.
That tipping point has not been reached.
    Yet.

    • Hawkerdriver (Pisson the Koran

I doubt any senator will now. They are ALL in on the fix.Mabey Michelle Bachman, but thats a long shot.

  • stumanchew

what an imbesle, what a maroon!!!

  • Bobby E

Johnny Mac! You’re no hero to me. I KNOW of a real hero (some of you probably know one, also) who didn’t get to come home to a hero’s welcome … he died in hand-to-hand combat defending his brothers-in-arms after being wounded in the jungles of South VietNam. Another venue for you game-playing pols.

  • Kearny432

So now you know why there’s been no outcry from the Senate on the creation of the Czars, the executive branches takeover of the census, takeover of private businesses etc. Do the beltway boys just scan the Washington Post and consider themselves enlightened. Big Macs co-sponsoring of that abomination to the 1st amendment, McCain-Feingold, shows where he stands on the constitution. There’s some schadenfreude there as that law actually worked against him last November. He’s just another senator who believes you can’t get dirty holding a turd as long as you hold it by the clean end.

  • GRIZZ

What did he just say?

    • ground wizard

here grizz i found another vid of mcainn that has subtitles for ya. don’t forget if you can’t keep up with the subtitles don’t be afraid to hit the pause button so you can catch up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf1pTJ43NwQ

You are an evil man GW,EVIL I SAY.To disgrace one of the greatest men of our times is reprehensible, irresponsible, and TOTALLY UNAMERICAN…..Rick astin RULES…”Im gonna lift you up”…………

  • March

Where’s the guy that took me to task for calling McCain a douche?

Okay, what’s the very next step RIGHT above douche that would make him a non-douche but still very douche-like?

    What would that designation be?

    • ground wizard

ha ha, i saw that post from the other night too, i was thinking the same thing. where he go?

    • Sully

Well it wasn’t me but I agreed with him.
      What of it?

    • March

Well, Rev. Sully, I’d like him to break this one down for me. This middle life thing has led to some deterioration of the main circuits in my BS detector and I’m not able to sense nuanced BS and such like I used to.

I came away feeling so refreshed after my last schooling that I’m really looking forward to a 2nd round… if he’ll oblige.

And, frankly, I think I’ll get a real kick out of seeing this sort of BS defended so, you know, there’s a comedic value in there, too.

    • Sully

Why should anyone have to take you to school twice?
Why don’t you and the others here actually defend your attacking a Senator with a VERY conservative VOTING record, if you can.

    • ReliableRepublicanNoMore

I think McCain votes conservative so he can cover his his verbal Liberalness; or is it the other way around? Hard to tell, but exactly why I never trusted him, even though I voted for him last year.

    • March

Leadership doesn’t begin and end in the Senate chamber. I expect someone who has a “VERY” conservative voting record to articulate their positions without pandering to and licking the balls of the fucking communist opposition.

The time for being cordial with the enemy is over. McCain better suit up for battle and bring his mouth with him or he deserves to be left at home after the next election cycle.

    • Sully

Pretty big talk for a guy doing….. uh, what exactly?
Oh right… Trash talkin an actual conservative Senator with a voting record to go with it that managed to get 60 million votes in an election most of the rest of ‘conservative America’ (and its politicians and pundits) had written off as unwinnable.

So maybe you need to stop licking your own balls. Maybe think about joining the Repub bashers at DailyKos.

    • March

      LOL, that’s pretty funny, Rev.

I actually voted for him but look at the choices I was given.

Sad truth is he IS unelectable to the office of POTUS. He doesn’t give anyone a reason to be excited about going out and voting for him, either. And it is statements just like the one in this thread that keep people from jumping on his bandwagon.

Shit, I don’t care how many votes he got, he lost to a communist in a mostly conservative nation.

    • Sully

So you got nothin? Not even a name of someone else that might have beaten a “communist” last year and some argument about how?
How did I know that would be true?
Thing is, it makes your bitchin about Barry ring kinda hollow too.

    • March

      Hey! Guess what?

      You win.

      How’s that?

    • Sully

      Hell I already knew that.
There’s no way to justify the attacks on the man from the Repub side. That horseshit started with so-called conservative ‘pundits’ on TV and radio. I blame them as much or more for our current problems. Elitism isn’t a Democrat exclusive.

  • punisher55

Mccain is plainly a rhino , I don’t like or trust him and I wish he would just go away.

    • Phil Byler

No, McCain is NOT a RINO. A RINO does not have a conservative voting record, and McCain’s voting record this year is conservative and as good as any. McCain has voted AGAINST every Obama bailout bill. McCain has voted AGAINST every Obama deficit spending bill, denouncing the multi-trillion dollar deficit spending as “generational theft,” a phrase thereafter used by Sean Hannity. McCain has voted AGAINST the confirmations of tax cheat Geithner, radical pro-abortion advocate Sebellius, leftist Kagan and transnational legal theorist Koh to their respective positions in the Obama Administration. McCain voted AGAINST the confirmation of Sotomayer to the U.S. Supreme Court. McCain has announced he is opposed to Obama’s cap and trade bill and opposed to ObamaCare –indeed, McCain stated on Greta Sustern’s Show he would not vote for any bill with a public option in it.

McCain is old fashioned. What he said at the Townhall would have bneen expected 60 years ago. What is going on is reflective of how bad Obama and the Democrats are.

  • Phil Byler

McCain is observing polite table manners in an old fashioned way at a time when people are ready for a food fight.

    • Lock and Load

Yeah Phil, sort of like what he did during the election, and look where it got him… Hopefully some day soon he will realize that he needs to join the food fight, because right now his methods are just making him irrelevant to the fight :???:

    • Sully

He’s not “irrelevant” to his constitutients. That might be of import to supporters here, myself included, of state sovereignty.
I saw the whole of his townhall and in addition to acknowledging “peaceful revolt” he also said, when asked what average people can do, ‘keep doing what you’re doing because it’s working’.

    • Lock and Load

      Sully
McCain is obviously not irrelevant to his constituents, there were a lot of people at his townhall. My point is that he is becoming irrelevant in the larger battle against obambicare and all of the other socialist crap coming at us from the left, especially when he claims to want to get obambicare watered down and made into some bipartisan bill that tastes better. I believe, as Rush said today on his show, let the dhimmicrats own it, and go down with it. It is not time to make nice with the enemy, or associate with this socialist nonsense through bipartisan support. The people at the townhall booed for a reason… they think McCain is seeing things the wrong way :???:

    • Sully

In my first post I said Mac deserved the boos on that subject. I also said that for a (actually ANY) US Senator to have agreed with THAT would be calling a sitting President a traitor to his oath. We’ve made progress this summer but not THAT much progress.
      Maybe by 9/13.
It pisses me off to see posts cannibalizing Repubs in the same way they trash them at the DailyKos.
Look around. We need every friend we can find to get our country back and despite what you or anyone else says, around 60 million voted for Mac and that ain’t “irrelevant”.

    • Phil Byler

Sully, I understand very well your points. Now is the time for confrontation with Obama and the Democrats. If Mac would accept advice from us, he would be far more effective.

Lock and Load, I know what Rush is saying, but McCain is not compromising on health care. McCain has flatly rejected the public option. What McCain suggests as the basis for a bipartisan bill are GOP health care proposals such as tax credits and allowing insurance to be sold across state lines. Rush is working off his brother David’s column that referred to an AP story that was vague in its description and I could never find. You cannot, however, trust AP, and you must understand that the Beltway would love McCain to broker a bill. The whole point of Georgy Steffie’s interview last Sunday was to criticize McCain for his “partisan” voting record and entice McCain to do compromises on health care and cap and trade. McCain did not take the bait. It is time for Rush and David to drop their counterproductive antagonism toward McCain, who as I note in reply to punisher55, has been a good conservative this year.

    • Sully

lol… um, thanks Phil but when people post the same BS that used to appear on Lib blogs pre-election, I’m gonna hit it.

  • Lock and Load

Please, johnny boy, obambi is on record saying that he thinks the constitution is a flawed document  He respects it all right, enough to know how much of it he can trample underfoot before the sheeple wake the hell up and complain  You cannot say that obambi has a “fundamental difference in philosophy and about the role of government” and then say that he respects the constitution… it clearly lays out the philosophy and role of government THAT HE DIFFERS ON :!: :!: I agree that obambi is sincere in his beliefs… SINCERELY, TOTALLY WRONG AND ANTI-AMERICAN  :???:

  • Dirtmanf800

McCain is still in the Senate and Oblame is in the White House why? Oblame is very sincere in HIS beliefs. Understands the constitution or respects it, how many Czars are we up to now? McCain thinks he’s fighting in a boxing arena and hasn’t figured out that he’s in a street fight. An old friend of mine could fight in either arena and I never saw him loose a street fight. They were usually over as soon as he started it! McCain the conservatives / republicans haven’t figured out that we are in a street fight. They / we had better wake up fast or this fight will be over so fast we won’t know what hit us. I don’t think that most of the politicians even know what a real fight is and will not wake up.
Who among us will stand up to take their places?

  • Dirtmanf800

I don’t disrepect McCain I appreciate what he did for our country, I am one of the 60 million who voted for him. He’s just trying to go along to get along as have a lot of us for many years. Just look at where that has gotten us to.

    • Sully

“go along to get along” IS disrespect.
The man was by no means my first choice but I found new respect for the campaign he did run by working phones for him. No other candidate could have kept Barry from a mandate and Barry knowing He only got ~52% is the only thing checking Him now.
Besides that, Mac gave us Sarah. ;-)

    • dirtmanf800

Wasn’t trying to be disrespectful  Sara was the best thing he did in his campaign.
I’m in SC and have my own RINO to deal with.
We had a republican majority and they were for bigger government and that’s part of the reason we are where we are today. McCain in my opinion will cross the isle once again to add more intrusion into our lives.

  • Vehement

It’s time to drop the nice guy bullshit Senator McCain. It didn’t get you elected and it ain’t winning you any friends. Lets see some of the attitude that helped you survive Vietnam. This shit doesn’t impress us, in fact it sickens us. Get your balls back Senator and lets take on some more communist fucks for old time sake. :gun:
I’d sure hate to see a Vet thrown out on his ass, Senator, but there are plenty now to take your place.

  • Pancake

The good Senator has just Jumped The Shark!

  • Matt in GA

Sad disillusioned old man. Time to hang it up while you still have your honor sir.

  • cold soldier

Obamie respects the constitution like Hitler respected the sanctity of life.

  • Moultrie

I could not watch the Video, I’m trying to never hear the words ‘My friend’ as spoken by McCain ever again!

    • Sully

Yeah… The “Let me be perfectly clear… uh… um… er… ah…” we get every day from The Dear Leader really is much more ‘articulate’.
