GANJGAL, Afghanistan — We walked into a trap, a killing zone of relentless gunfire and rocket barrages from Afghan insurgents hidden in the mountainsides and in a fortress-like village where women and children were replenishing their ammunition.

“We will do to you what we did to the Russians,” the insurgent’s leader boasted over the radio, referring to the failure of Soviet troops to capture Ganjgal during the 1979-89 Soviet occupation.

Dashing from boulder to boulder, diving into trenches and ducking behind stone walls as the insurgents maneuvered to outflank us, we waited more than an hour for U.S. helicopters to arrive, despite earlier assurances that air cover would be five minutes away.

    I’ve never been an “anti-war protester” before.In this dispicable case I might just become one.Not in the anti-soldier sense mind you,but anti-policy.WTF are we doing over there besides getting our kids killed for no reason other than to kill them off and keep them OFF US SOIL.It is all beginning to come together now as just yesterday, the president of the left signed on to serve the communist UN. Now this will be his source of troops to put down the rebellion when it comes because all of our military assetts will be conveniently deployed and “engaged”

    Hopefully the leadership in the military will act accordingly to their oath and bring all troops home to help the people fight this “foriegn and domestic” orwellian nightmare enemy now metasticizing in our country’s guts with blitzkreig speed.

    God help us.

    This cost us Korea, Vietnam, they tried it in Iraq, and it is being used again in Afghanistan. It cannot be allowed! Regardless of what actions we have to take to see that the ROE is changed, we cannot allow our young Marines and Soldiers to be killed, by a ruthless enemy, without being able to adequately defend themselves!

    We are the lone superpower in the world; those goat -herders do not stand a chance against us, unless we tie both of our arms behind our backs and that is what is being done right now.

    It would be worth a firefight on our own streets to secure the safty of these Marines and Soldiers, but someone’s head needs to roll over this mess!

    This comes as no freakin’ surprize to me but it doesn’t lessen my deep (and deepening) anger at the Obama Administration and the feckless jackasses staffing it. The Obamanots have always felt, totally irrationally, that the “real” war is in Afghanistan, not Iraq, bacause they insist that Osama Bin Laden personally is the “Perp” in all this and that is where he is hiding out. While that may be true in some inane and small sense, the lefties persist in the notion that 9-ll was a CRIMINAL Act, not an act of war. (Read Obama’s Declaration of War on America that he authored in 1998). Therefore, in their truncated and perverted logic, all of the conduct and procedures that are normally expected of our police officers apply to this ostensibly crimianl situation.
    Freaking Wrong! The purpose of the Military is to kill people and break things. If a Commander in Chief (I hate to apply that title to the current holder) can’t sign on to that, then he should not put our Marines (forgive me -former Marine) in harms way. That he won’t is such B.S. I agree with Hawkerdriver above. Support them fully, recend asine ROE, or get the hell out of there. It is the height of immorality to do otherwise. :mad:

    I want to win. That’s why I would like to see the rules of engagement changed to protect our guys more and kill more of them. But BHO’s rules will only send our guys into an unwinnable meat-grinder. If that’s the way they have to fight, send them home. I think our guys are magnificent.

    When i was there in 2001-2002 We didnt have FA we only had Mortars. The Objective of Operation ANaconda was to be able to move fast and light.

    On the other hand when I went back in 2006 we had trip7 FA support and it made a huge differance. HUGE!

    How history is repeating itself over and over. This is what happen in Vietnam when the powers to be put so much restrictive rules of engagement on our soldiers while the enemy has UNRESTRICTED TOTAL WARFARE!!! And now we are doing it again in Afghanistan. Use common sense when it comes to fighting the Taliban when they have Unrestricted Total Warfare/Total Terror! If this don’t change we will lose the war.

    Thank you for your sacrifice and dedication to our America. Our Marine sons are rejoicing in Jehovah’s heaven together. May we, Patriotic Americans, rise to the defense of those still serving and demand that the ROE be immediately changed for their protection and for the sake of our Nation’s victory at war.

    I kid you not, the needless endangerment of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines on the battlefield, for the sake of political expediency cannot be allowed. It must be stopped at any and all costs. We must flood the phone lines of Washington, every Senator, every Congressional office, the Whitehouse, and every state and local legislative office with the demand for the change of the ROE!

    I am willing to fight to the death to protect our military personnel who are engaged in combat on foreign shores. I mean, I am ready at the drop of a hat for such a fight and I’ll bring the hat to drop!
