“Because I NEED Help.”…..What Do You Think, Dollardites?

OK…this one might be a little hard to follow, but I think you folks will enjoy the read. The original article referred to in the following is HERE:
The 23yo woman’s comment which is repeated in the featured article (below) is in the comments at the end of the linked piece(above).
Ok here is a comment I got on Independent Thinkers.
Well, I first learned of this insanity when I happened to find the snopes.com coverage of this story while trying to learn more about Section 8/housing assistance.
At first I read the article completely appalled at the audacity of this woman when there are thousands of people in this country who are genuinely suffering… but I kept reading.
Snopes verifies that only PORTIONS are true… granted, one of the truths being the photograph of her and her big screen tv… but let me remind you, I found this article while looking for more information on housing assistance for myself.
Because I NEED help.
I’m white. Female. 23 years old.
Attained my Associates Degree a month and a half ago, footing my own bill, and graduated with highest honors.
The money I borrowed in college to cover my living expenses that my minimum wage, 15 hour/week job could not, officially ran out in December.
I’ve been struggling since then and didn’t apply for foodstamps, housing assistance, or any sort of government help at all until now.
Now that I’ve been out of school for over a month, and even though I have a plethera of well-established work experience… nothing.
I could continue to justify to you my genuine need for assistance whilst in humbling poverty, but it would cheapen the point i’m trying to convey.
Some of you are fortunate enough to not be in the situation I’m in. Perhaps through your own dedication and hard work, or because in times of desperation you’ve had family or friends to help you out.
A lot of us do not have such luck.
When you’re qualified, hard-working, and willing to work for next to nothing, yet unable make ends meet, you’ll realize the importance of altruism on a massive scale.
As with any truly beneficial opportunity, there will be abuse of the system just like there always has been… but it’s no reason to make it impossible to provide assistance to those who need it.
I don’t completely agree with our current government, but if it were up to the self-proclaimed “angry mobs” of this nation, anyone in a situation like mine would be left to live a life of undeserved desolation.
The wait-list for housing assistance where I live is currently 2+ years.
This is a story that I am sure happens everywhere everyday. I sympathize with Anon, I really do. I know y’all are on the edges of your seats wanting to know the common sense solution to such a question and that is of course exactly what you are gonna get.
Pay attention people the best advice in the universe is here and its absolutely free.
First if you read much you know I am 100% against borrowing money. So I don’t have much sympathy for that. I was on a full scholarship so I didn’t pay but the bride paid for hers as she went and she also held down 2 jobs and sold make-up WHILE going to school and graduating on time. During the last year of her going to school she bought a house. It can be and is done every single day.
I do sympathize with you, I really do. That sucks. You did though put yourself in this situation. This goes directly into the “no debt” theme. The thing to do would have been NOT to go to school until you could afford it. Then you get out with no debt. I know all the people out there thinking Sage thats not realistic. Oh yeah? My dad was 34 years old when he graduated college. 34. Wanna know how he did it? He saved and went as he could. While raising 2 kids and supporting a stay at home mom. So don’t tell me “can’t do it”, tell me “don’t want to so I’ll assume the debt with my poor decision and I will then ask you Sage to bail me out”
You also say “you’ll realize the importance of altruism on a massive scale”.
I have nothing against charity or altruism. Nothing at all.
Altruism
1 : unselfish regard for or devotion to the welfare of others
2 : behavior by an animal that is not beneficial to or may be harmful to itself but that benefits others of its species
I do have something very much against punitive taxation and income redistribution. Did you redistribute your grades? Would it have been ok with you for the guy that came to 10% of the classes to have averaged his D in with your A? Would you have taken a C so he could have a C? That is what you and the socialist democrats are asking me to do. You are saying it suits you to have the government take money that I earned working damn hard and support your decisions?
How can anyone be ok with that? Anyone? I’m not ok with supporting you. I’m not ok with the government taking my money that I earned, or saved, or invested and giving it to any individual. EVER. That is not right. It isn’t right for me to support anyone except my family. How can anyone justify that?
See the government has no money, none at all. They do have ways to take money from people and give it to other people. That is the exact reason that intelligent people NEVER vote for anyone or any party that PROMISE to raise taxes on anyone else in America. That would be the definition of insanity. Why would a smart person do that? Never mind, they wouldn’t ever. People who produce would never do such a thing. Net loss voters, yes they would surely do that.
As with any truly beneficial opportunity, there will be abuse of the system just like there always has been… but it’s no reason to make it impossible to provide assistance to those who need it.
Why do you need the assistance? Because you purchased something you couldn’t afford. The same reason GM needed bailing out. The same reason the banks needed bail outs. You made a conscious decision to purchase something you could not afford. Same with the housing crash. Jim-bo-dine Carter made it possible for people who could not afford housing to own them. Same as you. You could not afford college, you purchased it on credit and now you want me to suffer because of it? How much sense does that make? Is it my fault you bought something you couldn’t afford? Is it my fault you didn’t save the money and pay cash? Is it? Someone (since I don’t think Anon will come back) tell me how this makes sense? Is it my fault you can not afford housing? What did I do to keep you from being able to afford housing? What did I do for you not to be able to get employed? Thats another thing about the jobs thing. I see the stats, it is the worst unemployment since ’83 but I know Vixen Kitten, April (va) and Accessory Girl all 3 got jobs BETTER than they had in the last month or so. The work is there for people who want to work. Someone please tell me why Democrats and Socialists believe it is my responsibility to pay for this?
I don’t completely agree with our current government, but if it were up to the self-proclaimed “angry mobs” of this nation, anyone in a situation like mine would be left to live a life of undeserved desolation.
Undeserved desolation. So in your mind I DESERVE to be punitively taxed but your poor decisions make it so that your desolation is undeserved? I deserve to pay for your decision because I bust my ass and save and skimp and make good decisons. Is that why I deserve it? My kids DESERVE to miss out on something because of your decisions? My grand kids DESERVE to pay back this insane increasing debt some goddamn fools allowed by voting in the biggest group of idiots in the history of America. Sunshine please put the crack pipe down! You sound like Obama. WTF? The mobs are angry because some people in this country vote for asshats that believe that income redistribution is good, socialism is right, Marxism is the way to go. It would take a very simple minded person to believe that what you have proposed is right and we have one of those in the White House, they did get rid of one of the self proclaimed communists appointed by Barrico, that was a good thing.
What you, all of YOU Americans deserve is life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, thats it, and the current crop is against you having two of the three.
Again folks I bring it to live and correct. You can not, regardless of how you voted make this argument and make it correct. You cannot put a person in charge of this country who has zero experience and expect the economy to be good, especially not when he is hobbled with the least liked congress in history according to the polls. So we voted in Carter times two and voted in the worst of the worst, the scourge of humanity, the dregs of society. When the simple and the dullards come out in droves to vote it is impossible to have anything but simpletons and dullards elected, and booyah!!! we have a belly full of ‘em right now.
I encourage every American to go to DC this Saturday, there will be no communists in the crowd, the net loss voters will be minimal and there will actually be people who have to take days off work to attend. Go. Represent the common man, the worker, they damn sure ain’t gettin represented anywhere in DC right now.
If you are bored someone please show me in the Constitution where it says Health Care, College, a job, or housing is a right.
Meet me at the plate, thatsa home run right there
