Don’t Want Obamacare? Jail Time, Fines For Those Who Oppose New Regime

Americans who fail to pay the penalty for not buying insurance would face legal action from the Internal Revenue Service, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation.

The remarks Thursday from the committee’s chief of staff, Thomas Barthold, seems to further weaken President Barack Obama’s contention last week that the individual mandate penalty, which could go as high as $1,900, is not a tax increase.

Under questioning from Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.), Barthold said the IRS would “take you to court and undertake normal collection proceedings.”

Ensign pursued the line of questioning because he said a lot of Americans don’t believe the Constitution allows the government to mandate the purchase of insurance.

“We could be subjecting those very people who conscientiously, because they believe in the U.S. Constitution, we could be subjecting them to fines or the interpretation of a judge, all the way up to imprisonment,” Ensign said. “That seems to me to be a problem.”

Ensign’s argument , however, wasn’t persuasive to the committee — which rejected an amendment from Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) to eliminate the individual mandate.

Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) was the only Republican to vote with Democrats to preserve the mandate.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it “Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold.”

The note was a follow-up to Ensign’s questioning at the markup.

      Oh, yeah … he’s read it. He was schooled in Constitutional law … he taught it. Key word: lawyer. As any good ambulance chaser, he’s figured out how to subvert it or at least allied himself with the people who will trash it. Among a host of others, can anybody say ‘Sotomayor’? Listen to his ‘mad science’ czar talk about how the Constitution actually says we have an obligation to abort babies. We have passed the time to be talking about voting out these monsters. I’m afraid it’s too late for that. ‘Give me liberty, or give me death’ time is knocking at the door. I won’t live being ‘ruled’ and subjugated by these who are no better at governing than you or I.

      Prisoners have to be released to man O’s army in order to jail all of the people who have been put out of work by O … the unemployed won’t be able to pay this fine, will they? Of course, it makes perfect sense that if you can’t pay the $1,900 then you should be fined a further $25,000. This is Alice in Wonderland shit.

    Let’s look at this liberal thinking… Working man and woman with two children. They make enough money that they pay for health care costs out of their pocket. Obama care says they will be fined $1900.00 bucks for not having insurance. Working man and worman says fuck you government I am not going to pay for insurance and they get fined and still refuse to buy insurance. Now they are going to be fined $25K or go to jail. Govt. throws them in jail thereby not collecting payroll taxes from them, puts their children in Obama/indoctrination/foster care at the expense of the govt. Govt makes example of this family as a “burden” to the system! What a crock of fuckin bullshit!!!! Not to mention take over of every aspect of our lives!!!!

    Our jails are full, other than the “camps” where will they put those who can’t or won’t pay ? The cost of feeding , medical care and guards will cost a fortune. Perhaps the “stimulus jobs” will be in charge of all this. This is a dangerous time for America.

      lmao…I understand what you are saying Kirk, I really do, and have thought about it….but I also have though of the tactics that are being employed against Americans at this point. What benefit does nobama have to gain by patriots being patient? Is that not what he expects of us? Has not the left become emboldened by the patriots patience over the decades? So let’s take a look at the point I am trying to make, and please do not take this the wrong way, because I do respect your perspectives. The individual (nobama) in question has spent a rather large sum of money to prevent the release of his personal documentation, even though the public is demanding it. He knows, and we all know, eventually it will come out….so why would he be spending that large amount of money???? even though he knows that we know he is not a true American?????? and the only simple explanation that I could come up with is that he is buying time….buying time to complete all of his goals in changing America into Amerika (USSA) and then he will not run for re-election and then the whole Birth Certificate controversy will be over and no one will care and guess what….we will be stuck with the radical legislation, EXTREMELY high taxes, radicals in our Supreme Court, and on top of all of that an EXTREMELY LARGE DEBT that will be placed on our generations to come. Now, you tell me, in all honesty, do we really have the luxury of being patient? I personally think and feel that the true Americans have been EXTREMELY patient. What do you think?

      I think that Judge Carter, (a Marine), deserves a chance to use the law in October. We’ve waited this long, we can and must wait for this to play out. However, I do understand what your saying, and I too find it as you say it, but we should wait. Just my 2-cents worth…

      I hope your right Kirk….and I do and have posted the links to the Affidavit for the hearing on 8th of Sept and now in the beginning of October the judge will hear arguments for scheduling/discovery. Like I said Kirk, I hope your right because if all of the other agencies and branches of our Government have failed us, what faith as a public in our Government is there left? When you have the Executive branch revealing secrets to the public, amongst other things, you have the Judicial branch investigating the CIA and not prosecuting Black Panthers for blocking voting plazas, amongst other things, and you have the Legislative branch ramming socialist legislation down our throats without the publics consent, to include the debt we have eaten, amongst other things….I hope your right because this tunnel sure is closing in on us.

      that article hit the nail on the head Kirk, thanks for sharing. As you can see, the article states we have a few months before this would occur in our Country, I personally think we have probably a year at the most, but the signs are there and they are indicative of what America is about to face AND when this occurs, what then? we will have no options on our hands to bring back and reverse the destructive path our Country has been led on by both the usurper, his cronies, and the media. I just hope those in the Government (FBI, CIA, SS,…) remember the oath they made to the Constitution before this occurs. We still have time to reverse this destructive path, but we are running out of time quickly.
