Losing The White Vote: It’s Only A Matter Of Time Before The Leftist Whites Are Called Racist Too
Reporting from Washington - After a summer of healthcare battles and sliding approval ratings for President Obama, the White House is facing a troubling new trend: The voters losing faith in the president are the ones he had worked hardest to attract.
New surveys show steep declines in Obama’s approval ratings among whites — including Democrats and independents — who were crucial elements of the diverse coalition that helped elect the country’s first black president.
Among white Democrats, Obama’s job approval rating has dropped 11 points since his 100-days mark in April, according to surveys by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press. It has dropped by 9 points among white independents and whites over 50, and by 12 points among white women — all groups that will be targeted by both parties in next year’s midterm elections.
“While Obama has a lock on African Americans, his support among white voters seems to be almost in a free fall,” said veteran Republican pollster Neil Newhouse.
Strategists in both parties blame Obama’s decline on growing discontent with his policy agenda, particularly after a month of often-rowdy debate over his proposed healthcare overhaul, in which some conservatives accused him of socialism. Obama’s ratings seem likely to rise again if he wins passage of healthcare legislation this fall.
But the drop in support among whites also comes as some conservatives have stoked controversies that have the potential to further erode Obama’s standing among centrists — including some controversies that resulted from White House stumbles.
One such episode came to a head Sunday when Van Jones, Obama’s green jobs czar, resigned after a week of criticism over past inflammatory statements and for signing onto conspiracy theories questioning whether the U.S. government played a role in the Sept. 11 attacks. A White House official acknowledged Sunday that Jones had been vetted less rigorously than other officials.
In another episode, some conservatives have criticized a White House dinner invitation issued to the lead lawyer in the American Civil Liberties Union lawsuits that have forced the government to disclose Bush-era interrogation techniques. The lawyer was invited to an event for the Muslim holiday of Ramadan.
And Obama’s plan to address the nation’s schoolchildren Tuesday has prompted an outcry among some conservative parents and GOP officials. Some of them have accused the White House of trying to infuse “socialism” into the minds of young people.
These controversies have followed conspiracy theories that the president was born overseas and is ineligible to hold office, and that his true religion is Islam — false rumors that some Democrats worry could be affecting the public’s view of the president and his party.
Pew first identified a slippage in white support immediately after a news conference in July, when Obama surprised many by saying that a white police officer had acted “stupidly” in arresting a black Harvard professor.
Still unclear is whether Obama’s slide in the polls is due solely to his policies, or questions about his personal background or allegiances.
During the presidential campaign last fall, the nation’s economic meltdown swamped any attempts by Republicans to portray Obama as having radical associations with figures such as his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.
Some conservatives, such as Fox’s Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, have argued that Jones, an outspoken Bay Area black activist who once described himself as a communist, fit the same pattern.
One black congressman, Rep. Charles B. Rangel (D-N.Y.), was quoted last week alleging that opposition to Obama’s healthcare policies was “a bias, a prejudice, an emotional feeling.”
“Some Americans have not gotten over the fact that Obama is president of the United States. They go to sleep wondering, ‘How did this happen?’ ” Rangel said, according to the New York Post.
Democratic pollster David Beattie conducted a survey last month in one competitive congressional district that found that more than a quarter of independents believed Obama had not proven his natural-born status. The same sentiment was expressed by nearly 6 in 10 Republican women — a group that Beattie said would be important for a Democratic victory.
He declined to name the district because the polling was private, but said that such questions about Obama’s background seemed to be a “proxy” for voters’ growing unease with Obama’s ambitious agenda, which has included a potential push to create a government-sponsored health insurance plan.
Surveys show that the vast majority of Americans like Obama personally, but that they are increasingly skeptical of policies that seem to expand the scope of government.
“We’re having an economic culture war,” Beattie said.
“The criticisms of Obama are about the fundamental role of government in our economy.”
A new analysis by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report concludes that nervousness about the president could prove devastating for Democrats next year.
The analysis, with a headline asking if 2010 could be the “year of the angry white senior,” warns that Obama faces a growing “gulf” between his still-strong support among young people and his dwindling numbers among people 65 and older.
The result, according to analyst David Wasserman, could be a loss by Democrats of up to 25 House seats. Democrats currently hold a 78-seat majority in the House.
Obama won a narrow majority of independents in last year’s election, and the Pew numbers show that his approval rating among that group rose to 57% in April — including half of white independents — before declining to 48% most recently.
More than half of whites older than 50 approved of Obama’s job performance in April. But now, after weeks of Republican accusations that the Democrats would seek to cut Medicare benefits, that number is 43%. Among white Democrats, Obama’s approval rating dropped to 78%, from 89%.
Some Democrats are hopeful that Republican opposition to Obama may be firing up core conservatives but failing to win over even skeptical centrists and independents to the GOP cause.
Dan Parker, Democratic Party chairman in Indiana, home to three competitive congressional districts and an upset win last year by Obama, said that the Republicans have yet to field strong challengers in those House races this year.
And, he added, in a state hit hard by economic troubles, voters are willing to give Obama credit for his economic stimulus package and for bailing out the auto industry.
“Once he gets the credit for passing healthcare reform, then he’ll see the political benefit,” Parker said.
But the conservative rebellion against Obama has even hit Parker close to home. Last week, he received an e-mail from the principal at his children’s school with the news that Obama’s Tuesday back-to-school address would not be shown to most students, due to complaints from parents.

It’s as simple as this: Whites no longer harbor feelings of ‘guilt’.
What’s more–and you heard it here first–a White backlash against any form of Black empowerment is looming on the horizon.
Obama may very well be remembered for swinging the political pendulum wildly to the right.
And oh yes, Whites will always be viewed as ‘racist’ by that 95% of Blacks who voted for the color on a man, rather than the character in a man … so get over it.
To LastConservativeBlackManOnEarth: My “white guilt”, such as it was, faded completely away after spending time in black neighborhoods doing my job.
The hostility, the crudeness, the vulgarity, the dirt, the filth, and the sheer stupidity I encountered was astounding. So much of what I saw was self-inflicted.
So, if those kind want to view me as racist, they can take all the time they have in thinking so. Meantime, I will go on about my life in relative comfort and contentment while they wallow in what they have brought on themselves.
My belief is the 95% you speak of “never left the plantation” mentally, and keep THEMSELVES enslaved through some type of twisted perception, that I cannot wrap my mind around.
Conservatives have great opportunity, but this is what concerns me..
the Republicans have yet to field strong challengers in those House races this year.
Hillary’s voters, who are more ‘populist’ than Obama (and to his left on health care), were already called racists this spring along with ‘the first black president’
“Once he gets the credit for passing healthcare reform, then he’ll see the political benefit,” Parker said.
My favorite line — yeah that’s the point, he’ll get credit, and the Democrats will get the blame.
Truth is racism will be perpetuated by the media so long as they continue to identify us by our demographic rather than our votes as individuals my skin does not determin how i will vote my mind does my skin does not determin my job my work ethic does fuck anyone who wants to judge me by any standard other than the substance of my character
“While Obama has a lock on African Americans, his support among white voters seems to be almost in a free fall,” said veteran Republican pollster Neil Newhouse.

Ha ha…You think it’s bad now? Wait till the new Nero starts to fiddle as a last recourse.
self-flagellation: self-imposed atonement, and joy in suffering.
As a ‘certified’ black man, I am repulsed by certain whites that think they can help me–by hating themselves. How undignified. How dishonorable.
I am repulsed by blacks (i.e., the ‘95%-ers’) that see a white ‘boogey-man’ in everything they fail at–always living life assuming things about others they have never met.
I am a first generation American. My father came to this country with a nickel in his pocket. All his children went on to become very successful. We have many physicians and attorneys in our clan. I was the ‘loser’ in the family … I ‘only’ made 6 figures.
Point is, America is *still* a benevolent land of opportunity. We operate out of the goodness of Freedom and Liberty–not out of the compulsion of Communism and Marxism.
Americans: don’t let anyone steal this inheritance. God–and our Forefathers–are looking at you.
I am of the belief that there is a “white boogey-man” that shoulders a great deal of the responsibility of what has happened to the American family that happens to be black.
That responsibility lies wholly on the American Left & their ill-designed programs not designed to produce results, but cynically designed to produce & grow a permanent sub-culture & solid voting block.
Along with a pliant media, the American Left has managed to generally smear the American Right with this crime that is nothing short of genocide.
My suspicions were confirmed by researching The Cloward-Piven Strategy of Manufactured Crisis.
Furthermore, American Blacks were targeted by Marxists in order to create a vanguard for Marxist revolution in the US.
Progressive/Marxist Govt programs are only designed to fail.
I served with a black man from Barbados. He was intelligent, controlled, respectful and self disciplined. The American blacks hated, isolated and were derisive of him.No daps for him.He did not care…he just kept on trucking.I wish him well.I’m sure he is a success today. Thanks for reminding me of him.
tahDeetz That’s a great post regarding the Left’s Plantation politics…the balkinization of Culture has been an enduring and successful strategy for spreading Communism worldwide. The results have been 200 million, 100+ million by Stalin & Mao alone, homocides by government aka DEMOCIDE over the last 150 years.
Using blacks and race (among a million other things) is a smoke-screen. Even the media pundits who use these arguments don’t understand they are being played just like that 95% of blacks who didn’t have a clue what they were voting for, the union thugs & ACORN people who are being duped into doing the dirty work, the imbeciles with “white guilt” who don’t understand we have as much right to “white pride”, and the total dingo-balls who just well it might be ‘kind of nice’ for something different. And, what idiot would vote for a Dumbocrat as a way to punish the Republicans. That is sheer nonsense. It finally occurred to me why Zero is not concerned about anyone or anything (like the Constitution). He has Masters and I’m not talking about Soros or Daily KOS. Can’t go through all the details but every issue (crisis) that has come up always ended up with a great big “WHY”? Hey, I’m just brainstorming here, but could the real issue here be that Zero is under pressure to deliver the U.S. to some foreign power. He’s becoming more strident when he speaks and I think it’s from fear. Fear of something or someone outside of this country because he doesn’t care about polls, the populace, or his base. Since the ‘light’ just went off in my head today as I put it all together I can’t as yet provide a coherent or cogent argument for my thought process (plus, I would be more wordy than I am now). But, maybe this ‘why’ will aid in what I’m saying: why doesn’t his Sec. of State accompany him on these ‘outings’ to countries that want to see us destroyed? Incrementalism (slowly duping us until it’s too late) didn’t work, so now the destruction of the United States is about to be put on a “fast-track”. Watch for it. I hope we’re ready.
Like I said above, it’s difficult to explain this succintly, so try this: IF Zero is “taken out”, it won’t be some right-wing nut, Hinckley type, or a Patriot (although someone might try). It will be the Masters he’s beholden to for not delivering America to them on a silver platter and then made to look as if someone in one of the above categories “did it”.
Don’t take this wrong, a year ago I would have called you a nut. Now you just scare the shit out of me because you could be
right
Bill, I take no offense. If everyone reading what I wrote thought I had lost it with conspiracy theories, I wouldn’t blame them. I’ve been agonizing over the past few hours about writing it - telling myself I’m nuts or that I’m saying something everyone knows but saying it as if it’s something new and novel. I’m just an average guy, out of work now for the nearly the past year because of this pathological liar, who served his country in a small way by riding ships during the period of ‘71 to ‘77. I was never political until 9-11. But, I’ve got to tell you, when things started connecting today I’ve been extremely troubled. I don’t have all the answers, or the definitive one, and I think everyone sort of already intuits what I’m saying. But, so far, because of such a rapid-fire series of issues being thrown at us (creating chaos to keep all of US looking at the wrong things and keeping us knocked back on our heels) everyone one of us have only been dealing with surface issues. For some it’s the Constitution, for others the economy, and for others the take-over of health-care which will affect a number of things including the economy. All of this is starting to dove-tail for me and I think all of us (and rightly so) have been dealing with various issues troubling in their own right, but we’ve only been scratching the surface. Something deeper and darker is going on here. I’ll try to cut this short, but there are two things I want to mention - one that we should all know about and the other something that struck me as odd.
First, the odd: way back before the election when the first stimulus was initiated, Bush took to the podium for a press conference and I noticed something that disturbed me because it was totally out of character for Bush. He had already been silent beyond belief towards the end, but on that day I swear I was looking at a man who had the proverbial gun held to his head. Something was definitely not right and you don’t have to be a psychiatrist to notice fear or other emotions in others. You instintively know it. Plus, Obama flat told Bush about his system of czars he was going to implement. Bush has been almost totally silent since leaving office and that is totally out of character with most former presidents. Maybe he was just tired from dealing with Dumbocrats and RINOS for eight years, but I posit that he knows what is going on right now and cannot say a word about it … i.e., he’s not complicit in it but HAS to keep his mouth shut.
My last comment, that everyone should be aware of, is the Constitution was suspended as of 1933 (I think that is the year - I’m not well-versed in this as I just learned of this recently). It has to do with an Emergency Powers Act passed at that time that suspended the Constitution and has never been rescinded. Obama’s main emphasis of studies was the Constitution, so he would have known about this. This is why he is disregarding the Constitution, but what’s troubling is that he has no fear of doing so. We are all so many Don Quixotes just fighting windmills while something much worse is going on behind the scenes.
1. Isn’t it interesting that yesterdays “nut jobs” are today’s “prophets”? — Not insult intended to anyone — but the events in motion now could NOT be made up and put into a movie because it would be too outlandish for anyone to watch.
2. EVERYTHING this guy has done has either been a payoff to a special interest group (SEIU, labor unions, banks, etc) or a complete diversion from what was actually happening. So if what’s actually happening is “bigger” than taking a free country to socialism and financial destruction, what the heck is going on “behind the curtain”?
3. I keep thinking of the Manchurian Candidate and it truly scares the crap out of me.
Thanks for your support of my brainstorming … I still WANT to believe I’m just being paranoid and nuts.
