“Wholesale Reconsideration”: U.N. Calls For One World Currency

The Telegraph:

The dollar should be replaced with a global currency, the United Nations has said, proposing the biggest overhaul of the world’s monetary system since the Second World War.

In a radical report, the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has said the system of currencies and capital rules which binds the world economy is not working properly, and was largely responsible for the financial and economic crises.

It added that the present system, under which the dollar acts as the world’s reserve currency , should be subject to a wholesale reconsideration.

Although a number of countries, including China and Russia, have suggested replacing the dollar as the world’s reserve currency, the UNCTAD report is the first time a major multinational institution has posited such a suggestion.

In essence, the report calls for a new Bretton Woods-style system of managed international exchange rates, meaning central banks would be forced to intervene and either support or push down their currencies depending on how the rest of the world economy is behaving.

The proposals would also imply that surplus nations such as China and Germany should stimulate their economies further in order to cut their own imbalances, rather than, as in the present system, deficit nations such as the UK and US having to take the main burden of readjustment.

“Replacing the dollar with an artificial currency would solve some of the problems related to the potential of countries running large deficits and would help stability,” said Detlef Kotte, one of the report’s authors. “But you will also need a system of managed exchange rates. Countries should keep real exchange rates [adjusted for inflation] stable. Central banks would have to intervene and if not they would have to be told to do so by a multilateral institution such as the International Monetary Fund.”

The proposals, included in UNCTAD’s annual Trade and Development Report , amount to the most radical suggestions for redesigning the global monetary system.

Although many economists have pointed out that the economic crisis owed more to the malfunctioning of the post-Bretton Woods system, until now no major institution, including the G20 , has come up with an alternative.

Cant you just see the UN Peacekeepers walking AMERICAN Streets? :gun:

Negative. Won’t happen. :gun: :gun: :gun:

Well, maybe in Berkeley. The UN can have Berkeley as far as I’m concerned.

Hey, Blue helmets make great targets. For example, a .308 BTHP match grade 168 grain bullet, 100 yard zero, 300 yard shot, standard atmospherics = 14.5″ holdover…So aiming at the helmet gives you a center mass POI (it’s only about 1/4″ difference for a 62 grain .223 HP match grade)…I’m just saying… :gun: :gun: :gun:

“the system of currencies and capital rules which binds the world economy is not working properly”

So why should we think the UN would do it better?

“Replacing the dollar with an artificial currency would solve some of the problems related to the potential of countries running large deficits and would help stability,”

Unfortunately, the Dollar already is an “artificial currency”. I don’t see how this would be an improvement.

It’s just another step towards a ‘one world government’.

Obama and friends will welcome this kind of thing so it will hasten the change to a ‘Communist one world government’.

I guess the thought of blue helmeted guys in the streets is scary….unless you have worked with UN troops…then you’d know that they suck so bad I’d put my money on any back woods redstate bubba to kick those guys asses. Bangladeshi and other turd world countries that make up a majority of the troop rosters in UN units order of battle are sorry as hell.

    • cold soldier

I might remind you that if it weren’t for “back woods redstate bubba” the combat arms units of our military would be vacant.

A story was related to me the other day about some crystal-meth dealers. Of course they’re breaking the law, but those dudes are serious! U.N. soldiers wouldn’t want to wander too close to their operations, lol. To protect their lab, two or three guys are ready to take on the whole world.

    • cold soldier

Yes as I’ve learn from experience, they usually are heavily armed and extremely paranoid.

Obama is the first (alleged) President to become a member of the UN Panel.

 “It goes right in stride with world order objectives in making the UN the world government and Obama President of the world. It may seem far-fetched at this point, but everything has come true in terms of the world order objectives thus far, including making America into a Socialist/Marxist nation before becoming part of the NAU. In fact, a former FBI senior agent said 90% of the objectives for the demise of the US as we know it is now 90% complete.”

We better get this revolution going. Thats why people like Pelosi and a lot of the radical progressive Dumbocrats are not worried about anything because they know what is coming down the pipe.
