Disney Pissed By “Ho White And The Seven Dwarves”

The x-rated advertisement, for Jamieson’s Raspberry Ale, depicts the fairytale heroine blowing smoke rings while lying in bed with seven semi-clad dwarves.

In this Disney dystopia, Snow White has been renamed “Ho White”, while the loveable dwarves Sleepy, Happy and Doc are rebranded Filthy, Smarmy and Randy – supposedly to represent different types of drinkers.

Campaign creators The Foundry claimed the idea was to convince Australian drinkers that the fruit-flavoured beer was “anything but sweet”.

However, the advertisement has reportedly angered Disney, the entertainment giant which licenses Snow White.

The Foundry said it had had “a little bit of contact” with Disney over the issue, according to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph newspaper.

The Foundry’s website had featured pictures of “Ho White” but links to the campaign appeared to have been disabled and the campaign’s official website, anythingbutsweet.com, could not be accessed.

Australia’s Food Week website speculated that this may be due to a copyright infringement.

Disney, which released the famous animated Snow White feature in 1937, was not immediately available for comment.

However, it is unlikely that the company, which runs the family-friendly Disney theme parks and is known for its cartoon feature films aimed at children, would agree to Snow White’s image being used to sell beer.

    Disney did not invent the Snow White fairy tale. They shouldn’t have any exclusive claim on any imagery unless it looks just like their version – and that one doesn’t.

      There’s been a ton of crap come out of Disney inc since that fag Eisner took it over a decade or so ago.

      I refuse to see any of their “Message-Movies” and have dissueded all my family from spending any more on the filth that comes from Disney.

      Disney has never claimed to have exclusive rights to the Snow White fairy tail. There have been several movies made on the story, and many books and stories published since the iconic 1937 movie.

      However, this ad clearly references Disney’s copyrighted works. The seven dwarfs of the original story were generic and indistinguishable from each other. It was Disney that first gave them all names (Grumpy, Sneezy, etc), and more specifically names the characterized their temperaments. The red bow in Snow White’s raven hair is another clear Disney reference, as is the overall style of the art. A reasonable person looking at this ad will immediately be reminded of Disney’s film, and that’s why it’s clear Disney’s lawyers have a case.

      The brewery might be able to claim fair use as parody, but parody is not automatically protected. When used commercially to sell a product, parody gets far less protection than non-commercial parody or satire. Or, at least that’s how it is in US law. Australian law might provide less, or more protection. As a commonwealth country, the law is probably similar to the US.

      The original animator for the film was asked by his boss why his wife got this creepy feeling while watching certain parts of the film and the animator laughed and showed his boss the XXX, full-on Porn, single frames he inserted into the film of Snow White and dwarves boinking. The boss was freaked, but it was too late, the film was already in wide release. :lol:

      True. I heard it in a radio interview the animator gave in the late 80′s.
