Obama Risks a Domestic Military ‘Intervention’

America isn’t the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn’t mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it. So, view the following through military eyes:

-Officers swear to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Unlike enlisted personnel, they do not swear to “obey the orders of the president of the United States.”

-Top military officers can see the Constitution they are sworn to defend being trampled as American institutions and enterprises are nationalized.

-They can see that Americans are increasingly alarmed that this nation, under President Barack Obama, may not even be recognizable as America by the 2012 election, in which he will surely seek continuation in office.

-They can see that the economy — ravaged by deficits, taxes, unemployment, and impending inflation — is financially reliant on foreign lender governments.

-They can see this president waging undeclared war on the intelligence community, without whose rigorous and independent functions the armed services are rendered blind in an ever-more hostile world overseas and at home.

-They can see the dismantling of defenses against missiles targeted at this nation by avowed enemies, even as America’s troop strength is allowed to sag.

-They can see the horror of major warfare erupting simultaneously in two, and possibly three, far-flung theaters before America can react in time.

-They can see the nation’s safety and their own military establishments and honor placed in jeopardy as never before.

So, if you are one of those observant military professionals, what do you do?

Wait until this president bungles into losing the war in Afghanistan, and Pakistan’s arsenal of nuclear bombs falls into the hands of militant Islam?

Wait until Israel is forced to launch air strikes on Iran’s nuclear-bomb plants, and the Middle East explodes, destabilizing or subjugating the Free World?

What happens if the generals Obama sent to win the Afghan war are told by this president (who now says, “I’m not interested in victory”) that they will be denied troops they must have to win? Do they follow orders they cannot carry out, consistent with their oath of duty? Do they resign en masse?

Or do they soldier on, hoping the 2010 congressional elections will reverse the situation? Do they dare gamble the national survival on such political whims?

Anyone who imagines that those thoughts are not weighing heavily on the intellect and conscience of America’s military leadership is lost in a fool’s fog.

Will the day come when patriotic general and flag officers sit down with the president, or with those who control him, and work out the national equivalent of a “family intervention,” with some form of limited, shared responsibility?

Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.

Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.

Unthinkable? Then think up an alternative, non-violent solution to the Obama problem. Just don’t shrug and say, “We can always worry about that later.”

In the 2008 election, that was the wistful, self-indulgent, indifferent reliance on abnegation of personal responsibility that has sunk the nation into this morass.

    Would it really be a coup if the military removed a traitorous, constitutionally unqualified usurper from office? Who else but the military has the necessary firepower to show him the door? At the rate we’re going, we won’t have a Constitutionally-governed Representative Republic by the November 2010 mid-term elections. WTF do we do then?

    Nothing that happens after that will make any difference at all. The tyrant will have won.

      While I agree with the parliamentary trickery part, I can assure you that the military could handle it’s own redeployment if necessary. The military still controls the trucks, ships, and airlift.

      And it wouldn’t require a whole lot of soldiers to take over the White House, the Capitol building, and SCOTUS. And they’d be accompanied by at least a million armed citizens.

      The dry run for that operation was conducted on 9/12, incidentally.

    A military coup could be considered treason. But if senior officers acted to support and defend the Constitution, as is their sworn oath, it would not be treason. If they can show that the existing administration is violating the Constitution, and that the normal checks and balances have failed, it would be a legal intervention to defend the Constitution.

    Congress might kick and scream, the SCOTUS might throw a fit, but they don’t have the guns. The US military, and the people, hold the final trump card here.

    All we Dollardites need to keep this in mind: Obama’s handlers, and they are numerous, well funded, well trained, ultra-politically saavy, and thinking about this same thing. They are well aware of what is going on around them and have filled military, law enforcement, intellegence community, and communications positions with their informants. They are watching every move the military brass makes. None of this would, in any way, be a surprise to them.

    I agree it needs to happen and I am ready for it to happen,but if it does it will not be without violence, it will not be bloodless, nor would it be civilized. It would become the second shooting civil war. I beleive it needs to take place, there needs to be a purging, a cleansing, an a purifying of our nation. However, if it does happen, it will be messy.

    Expect it! Prepare for it! Be ready to do your part in it! Pray for the assistance of the Almighty in such an endeavor. Let’s deliver our country before it is too late!

    While I agree that the O administration sucks as bad as (or worse than) any other we have had in US history, I don’t believe it is to the point that the military could (or even should) step in.

    There is no such thing as a civilized bloodless coup. If the military tries to step in and take over there WILL be blood, lots of it. American blood. And don’t think for a molment that the rest of the world will stand by and keep their noses out of it either. We will see foreign troups patrolling the streets of America. The people who are dreaming that this would be anything other than a complete disaster are deluding theirselves. An attempted coup by our military would destroy America. There would be no going back. The current constitution would no longer apply and a new one would have to be written. Most likely America would be split into a few smaller countrys and each of them would have to write their own constitutions, and I’m not so sure that the foreign governments who sent troups to “help” wouldn’t just keep the parts that they carved off. “For their own good” you understand.

    Like it or not, the people of America VOTED and they are getting what they deserve. Hopefully, through political activism we can mitigate the worst of the damage. Hopefully, the American people will wake up and in 2010 will slash Obamas power by removing the Democrats majority in congress. Then in 2012, Hopefully we dont have to choose between a shit sandwitch and a crap salad when it comes to a presidental vote.

    I don’t have much hope for that last one. Both of the major partys have lost sight of freedom. The Democrats seem to all be socialists, communists, and marxists who view the American people as children who need to be told what to do and can’t be allowed think for themselves, and the Republicans seem to all be totalitarian statists who don’t TRUST the American people to think for themselves so they must control everything.

    What ever happened to the Government trusting the American people to know what is right for themselves and let them be? What happened to freedom?

      As for what happened to freedom, it has been slowly undermined for the last 60 or 70 years by communists calling themselves the “progressive movement”. My great-grandfather was a Democrat politician back in the early 20th century. He left the party in the 50s when he saw what was happening.

      The left had a long-term plan to take over, and they have executed it well. First they controlled labor, then they controlled the schools through the teacher’s unions, then the media and now the government. The populace is the only thing they don’t (yet) completely control. We can thank the Founding Fathers for giving us the Second Amendment, which has to this point preserved our last gasp of freedom. The minute they get rid of the 2A, either through the courts, a “Gun Czar”, a UN anti-gun treaty, or through nationalized healthcare allowing a bureaucrat to determine that guns are too dangerous and cause healthcare costs to be too high, we are toast.

    It depends on what civilian leaders step up with the military.

    If it becomes a full militarization of America than that is no good.

    He will loose by election starting in one year with midterms

    Can you imagine the riots if Obama was removed!! First we must get as many democrats out of office in 2010. Then somehow make the 2012 election fair. I think if it is, Obama is a one term president. But he wants to be there for a long time. 8 years and then 8 years for his wife. By then he would be the dictator.
    It will take more than the military to remove him. It is going to take a lot of other people too.

    Lets hope it can be done starting in 2010….No 3rd party either

      Word around here is that there have been several democrats-elitist pundants on CSPAN and in “interviews” hinting that “They have the election already rigged for 2010″ and that Obama’s DHS-FEMA has plans to have “TAKE-OVER CRISIS” in April 2010 or May 2010.

    The idea that officers … senior officers will resign en-mass won’t happen. Too many have invested their youth and their energy in serving the country and to just ‘take my ball and leave’ is not a viable option. Most would be of far greater service by staying on the inside where they can have some sway over events.

    The idea that they will somehow lead an active coup and we will see tanks on Pennsylvania Ave. is Hollywood fantasy. It’s not going to happen. Posse commatus and the separation of powers between military leadership and civilian control is pretty well drilled into the officer corps. Most of the senior officers who could have significant influence are, by nature, political beings. One does not rise to 0-6 and beyond without making a number of politically oriented connections and being a political creature.

    Having said that, the idea that senior officers would offer tacit support by selectively ignoring specific orders in the event of an uprising by the populace is much more feasible.

    That they would actively or indirectly impede FEMA or other agencies who might attempt to put down such a popular uprising is also feasible.

    The active duty forces will probably not weigh-in in any significant manner … which is in itself significant support when you think about it.

    The National Guard is a different story. Their charter is different than the active duty forces, they take orders from the Governor (where do you think Bill Richardson would come down on this issue?) and have a long history of being called out in times of civil strife.

    My prayer is that the citizen-soldiers of the National Guard and the law enforcement community know when to step in and when to stay back.
