Terrorism: Lieberman Pushes For Senate Probe Into Ft. Hood Massacre
Senior US Senator Joe Lieberman says he plans to open a congressional investigation into last week’s deadly shooting at a Texas army base.
Mr Lieberman, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee, told Fox TV that he wanted to find out whether it was a terrorist attack.
Nidal Malik Hasan, a Muslim army major, is suspected of killing 13 people.
Mr Lieberman also said he hoped to determine whether the army missed signs that Maj Hasan harboured extreme views.
The 39-year-old army psychiatrist opened fire at the Fort Hood base on Thursday. Besides those killed, 29 people were wounded.
Maj Hasan was shot by a police officer and remains in a coma.
‘Rants’
Mr Lierberman said that if Maj Hasan had shown signs of becoming an Islamist radical, the army should have discharged him.
The Associated Press news agency reports that some of Maj Hasan’s colleagues had expressed concern about his growing anger over the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Another army psychiatrist, Val Finnell, told AP he had complained to army administrators about what he considered Maj Hasan’s “anti-American” rants.
“In retrospect, I’m not surprised he did it,” Mr Finnell said of the shootings.
Investigators are still looking into the motive of the attack.
But Army Chief of Staff George Casey warned against speculation.
He told ABC’s This Week programme on Sunday that focusing on Maj Hasan’s religion could “heighten the backlash” against all Muslims in the military.
Reports suggested that Maj Hasan, who was due to be sent to Afghanistan, had been increasingly unhappy in the army.
His cousin told US media last week that he had been opposed to his imminent deployment, describing it as his “worst nightmare”.
Mr Hasan’s cousin also said the gunman had been battling racial harassment because of his “Middle Eastern ethnicity.”
Maj Hasan was born in the US of Palestinian parents and has been described as a devout Muslim.

Gen. Casey, Sir, to what ‘backlash’ are you referring? Are you suggesting that holding the muslim jihadi accountable for his actions, and to call the systematic and calculated murder of innocent civilians and soldiers a terrorist attack is ‘backlash’. If so, with all due respect, you are not fit for command. To hear you protect the enemy in this manner is a disgrace to the uniform you wear and is most unbecoming for any military officer of the United States. I suggest, Sir, that you obtain a copy of the oath you took, and read it, and either conduct yourself in accordance with its contents, or resign your commission, for the uniform you wear is much too large for the coward you have become.
All you will see come from this is the military (which is a cesspool of “tolerance” and “diversity”) make stronger regulations for “discrimination”
Casey’s a politician, not a military man (any more). As a rule, you don’t get to that level if you’re not a politician first and a military man second. The only Joint Chief that’s worth a damn is the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Conway.
I know what Gen. Casey is, and I have named it. I tend to agree with you on Gen. Conway, however, we will have to learn the mettle of the man when we are engaged against the domestic enemies who now hold office.
The silence is deafening, from all those loud mouth, finger-pointing, “experts”, that were so quick to label everybody that didn’t agree with them, as a “Terrorist”! Where are they now? Notice how they all dance around the, “T” word? You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes, to figure this one out!

1.)I won’t waste any time for calling the generals “stupid ” for not doing their job.
2.) Don’t expect any help from the generals with what we are now facing.

Aint it funny that while I was not allowed to display the “Confederate Battle Flag” anywhere on a military instillation, this assclown proudly displayed a bumper sticker on his car that said “allah is love”. Anyone else see the irony here?
The American people need to instigate, and prosecute, thier own probe. I’m tired of the foxes ruling the hen-house.
