I will never, ever join the NEA. As a matter of fact, I objected and informed my class block of some of what the NEA supports and has undermined. Remember the NEA union rep out west that said something like, "if students want to have representation, then they need to hire their own lawyers." He stated this in regard to criticism over asking for raises while test results were falling. Anyway, my wife is already a teacher and absolutely would not join the NEA. It's pretty bad how hard they campaign to get you to join. "If you don't join us, how can we get you a raise" type crap. I’m currently student teaching – getting ready to graduate. The Communists (liberals, progressives, whatever) obviously, infiltrated higher education as far back as the 30s. Communism was big here then.
