BEIJING, Nov 18 (Reuters) – President Barack Obama gave his sternest warning yet about the need to contain rising U.S. deficits, saying on Wednesday that if government debt were to pile up too much, it could lead to a double-dip recession.

With the U.S. unemployment rate at 10.2 percent, Obama told Fox News his administration faces a delicate balance of trying to boost the economy and spur job creation while putting the economy on a path toward long-term deficit reduction.

His administration was considering ways to accelerate economic growth, with tax measures among the options to give companies incentives to hire, Obama said in the interview with Fox conducted in Beijing during his nine-day trip to Asia.

“It is important though to recognize if we keep on adding to the debt, even in the midst of this recovery, that at some point, people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy in a way that could actually lead to a double-dip recession,” he said.

Fox News, which released a transcript of the interview, showed that comment by Obama on Wednesday morning and said the full discussion would be broadcast later in the day. (Reporting by Caren Bohan; Editing by John O’Callaghan)

So in other words: “If I keep getting to make decisions, this country is fucked.”

  • bill-tb

Obama qualifies, too stupid to know how stupid he is.

    No Shot, Sherlick!

It’s almost laughable as to the statements this poser will make around the globe -stating the blindly obvious but not having the intellect or skills to do anything about it – except to drive us further into the oblivion.

I sure hope there’s plenty of indictments handed down after this serpent leaves office and we imprison the lot of them for the damage they have done to this country and the American people.

      Well said.

“Double-dip recession”…….we are already in a depression asshole!

    • Tellicorick

Psssst! They already know – they just think we’re too stupid to know and that we all eat copious quantities of that garbage the networks shovel out night after night! They will experience “double dip” recession (poll) numbers starting in 2010 and continuing in 2012 as REAL AMERICA rejects the total insanity of socialism (I can’t bear to capitalize the “s” in socialism anymore).

  • Jett

“…in the midst of this recovery”

WTF? There is NO recovery; rather this Admin / Fed have flooded the market with $$ which amounts to nothing more than a paper cover-up.

Pure insanity for all to see.

    Total collapse guaranteed.

He’s not saying we need to stop spending, remember they believe in Kantian economic socialism, that they must spend money to improve the economy, that money is recycled and turned over and over again stimulating the economy, ( I had a former communist from the USSR as a econ professor so I know what they think) no, he is saying we are going to need to raise taxes or “revenue” as they put it. Keeping taxes low, has always increased tax revenue, but they consider lowering taxes as a loss of revenue, always!

The entire point is he isn’t calling for restrained spending, he is calling for increased taxes!
