Marine Corps Commandant Leads Fight Against Homosexuals And Lesbians Openly Serving In The Military
Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James T. Conway has emerged in internal Pentagon deliberations as the most outspoken opponent of permitting gay men and women to serve openly in the U.S. military, according to a former senior Pentagon official.
Most of the senior brass hold deep reservations about President Obama’s pledge to end the ban on gays in the military, especially in the middle of two wars that have put extra stress on the military, down to the platoon level, where soldiers and Marines would be expected to bond with openly gay colleagues.
But Gen. Conway has gone further than others in stating his opposition to a change in policy, according to the former official, who has been privy to private conversations on the matter. “He feels very strongly that [removing the ban] would be disruptive, and he opposes it,” said the former official.
Gen. Conway’s private remarks stand in contrast to public utterances by other service chiefs, who have restricted themselves to repeating a well-rehearsed mantra: If Congress introduces a bill to repeal the ban, they will discuss it with the chain of command. If Congress changes the law, they will follow the law.
Asked by The Washington Times whether Gen. Conway has expressed opposition to the president’s proposed policy change, his spokesman, Maj. David Nevers, did not answer directly.
But, he said in a formal statement: “Our Marines are currently engaged in two fights, and our focus should not be drawn away from those priorities. When the time is right, we have full confidence that we will be asked to provide the best military advice concerning the readiness of the Corps as it relates to this issue.”
Gen. Conway is the only chief known to have actively surveyed his generals on the impact of removing the ban. Maj. Nevers declined to discuss the commandant’s communications. Gen. Conway’s four-year term ends in November 2010.
The military’s long-held ban on gay service members, enacted first as a regulation and later as law, is based on the belief that the presence of openly gay personnel would disrupt unit cohesion.
Mr. Obama promised during his election campaign to end “don’t ask, don’t tell,” the policy signed into law by President Clinton. The policy ended the practice of asking prospective recruits about their sexuality, but continued to prohibit openly gay men and women from serving.
Mr. Obama repeated his vow during a speech Oct. 10 before a gay rights group, though so far little has been done inside the Pentagon, nor has there been any vote on Capitol Hill to advance his goal.

It would be a no nonsense Marine to stand up.
My thought exactly.
Just like the frozen chosin where the hell’s the army on this one??
To the Commandant Gen. James T. Conway:
Give’em Hell, Sir!
I hope his opposition is resolute, and ultimately quashes any ideas of a Fabulous Squad, 1st Color Coordinating Platoon, Interior Decorating Company, We’ve Got Your Backside Battalion.
New blanket party fodder. MC has a way of cleansing intself. Poor ass pirates…
“From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country’s battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.”
Semper Fi General Conway!
good to know there are still bad asses. give em hell
Here’s to you
There is not one cell in obama that is fit to command someone like General Conway or any other soldier, sailor, aiman, marine, coastie, reservist,or boy scout for that matter.Go to hell obama! You are UNSAT.
Stand your ground General,We The People will back you. When ofuckboy says he has you surrounded, remember what Anthony McCaulife said at the Battle of the Bulge.
Semper Fi !
Any officer or enlisted man from any branch of military service that doesn’t understand the negative impact of gays on the cohesiveness of a combat unit doesn’t know “shit from shinola”professionally. I am sick to death of the military being looked on as a social experiment in tolerance and PC. I think General Conway would agree. Semper Fi Sir.
P.S. I see that Gen. Conway’s term expires in 2010. I hope this Administration begins to expire on that date as well with the exit of Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Waxman, etc. etc. etc., “A consumation devoutly to be wished.”
Personally speaking I can’t quite understand the desire of gays to be outting themselves.
I mean, it certainly would not make sense to me to identify oneself as a member of a group that could be chosen to lead the charge on a suicide mission, if you get my drift.
Kinda silly to put your life in the hands of people that can order you to your death, don’t you think?
But who can understand the gay mindset.
Many don’t though, that’s the thing. Quite a few gays go through life having to tell people they’re actually gay, because no one would know otherwise.
But, all they gays you actually hear about are the militant ones, for whom their sexual identity is everything.
The militant ones are, to me, the ones who have virtually nothing to bring to the table except for how they are oriented. There are plenty who go to work, drive their cars, live in their homes, have their hobbies, and all the rest of the everyday things folks do. Things are different when the door closes is all. They think with their brains.
The militants, the marchers in the Pride Parades, think with their genitalia. They also carry on in a manner that sets the rest of us back 30 years every time they speak or act.
THE PEOPLE REALLY TRYING TO PASS THIS BULLSHIT DO NOT UNDERSTAND REAL COMBAT, AND REAL COMBAT UNITS AND HOW THEY WORK. NOW ITS VERY POSSIBLE IF THIS SHIT PASSES GAYS MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO SERVE IN COMBAT ARMS JOBS. BECUSE IF YOU ALLOW FAG MEN TO WORK IN COMBAT ROLES THEN YOU HAVE TO LET WOMEN JOIN COMBAT ARMS JOBS TOO. IF THEY DONT THEN WOMEN CAN FIGHT DISCRIMINATION TOO.
THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS THAT ARE GOING TO HAPPEN IF GAYS ARE LET IN OPENLY. ITS GOING TO RIP THE MILITARY APART, ESPECIALLY THE MARINES AND ARMY.
My sentiments Ranger!
THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS THAT ARE GOING TO HAPPEN IF GAYS ARE LET IN OPENLY.
Who’s going tolerate getting eye-balled by a fellow marine when the screaming adrenaline, stress and high- testosterone, high anxiey of battle is always eminent? Somebodies getting their head bashed in. And who ever does the bashing should sue the government and the basheee for adding faggotry into the battle quotient…
I was part of a blanket party while in tech school 1952. This bumfuck wouldn’t let the young troops alone so we took care of proten gargler. No one needed orders. Needless to say. No more He’ing on base. I use to hear “I would reather kick the shit out of a queer then eat //////”
O well, that was then this is now.
I hated the guy for his tattoo policies. But, now, I think I love him.
Oorah.
I was always a big fan of Krulak; but this CMC has BADASS written all over him.
Semper Fi SIR; let’s go fuck em up!
The most rudimentary level of common sense already knows that the military is anything but a vehicle for social change…but try and explain that to a stupid liberal.
Give it to them General Conway!
I say suit the queers up and ship them directly to Afghanistan. Announce their landing with great fanfare. Require them wear one of those gay assed obama O patches so the muzzis know who sent them.
Then recruit more and repeat.
Other countries, including Israel, allow gays to openly serve. My concern is that Obama wants to use to military as a petri dish for social experiments. If gays want to enlist and deal with all the very likely shit they will have to deal with as gays, fine. But you all know what will happen the moment the word “fag” or “dyke” is uttered. Or God forbid one of them didn’t get a promotion they felt entitled to, etc.
“Other countries, including Israel, allow gays to openly serve. My concern is that Obama wants to use to military as a petri dish for social experiments.”
EXACTLY. Because Obama’s people would not know to leave well enough alone.
“But you all know what will happen the moment the word “fag” or “dyke” is uttered. Or God forbid one of them didn’t get a promotion they felt entitled to, etc.”
Yep. Like women, and those who are enhanced with high levels of melanin do already.
The unit I served in dealt in matters requiring a hell of a lot of analytical capabilities. The mission was the number one concern. We KNEW we had two or three homosexuals. We KNEW that probably 1/3 of the division smoked pot. However, there were no problems with either crowd, and the division’s work went smoothly.
The CO had enough common sense to know what was going on and let things be. The XO was all gung-ho to start kicking butt and taking names, but the MCPOC calmly explained to him that doing so would bring the entire division to a grinding halt.
Oh, and, there were no problems I was ever aware of regarding leering, or untoward advances.
I would like to see the barracks arrangements for this issue. Straight men and women could make a legitimate argument that openly gay bunk mates are making them uncomfortable. So then you have to create new facilities for homosexuals after already having to do this for women who serve. But wait - the dykes and gays are fighting because they don’t particularly like the other sex…Now they must have male homosexual quarters and female homosexual quarters.
Male homosexual quarters turns into a male whorehouse. Lesbian quarters turns into giant catfight. Love triangles start forming and unit cohesion, already deteriorated, deteriorates further because of all the sexual tension in the gay barracks. What’s next? Breaking them up into separate barracks according to who finds who sexually attractive? (”I’m not sexually attracted to him, Sir!”….”Great! You’re roommates!”) At this point, those in command are starting to feel more like matchmakers rather than leaders of military.
Then you have the inevitable “It’s because I’m gay!” excuses that are going to come out every time someone feels they are being subjected to injustice of some kind. Just like ALL liberal policies, they start with lofty ideas of peace and love and don’t follow their thinking all the way through to the chaotic ending. We’re not talking a simple decision here - we’re talking something that could lead to huge restructuring of the way our military operates in a very negative way. Thank you, Commandant, for taking a stand for common sense!
Now that’s one Damn fine Marine!!!
Now I can see it happing. Then you have the common Blue on Blue accident. Then all hell breaks loose and you know if something were to happen to gay service member like friendly fire that it would be investigated and a witch hunt would be on.
Not because it was an accident but it would be a hate crime. It always comes down to that.It has to be a hate crime. Dont we have enough to deal with. The current policy is fine, What i done when i’m on leave with my wife is my buisness and so their for I dont see the need for openly gay policy in the miltary.
Then If they do pass it, we have to worry about the lifestyle situtation Homosexuals are more prone to HIV than hedero’s that’s all we need on the battle field patching up a soldier with that or something else. We all know who the gays are now and at least most of them. But I dont want my soldiers getting into to trouble for just talking, and we know soldiers have potty mouths and sometimes their words maybe offensive or colorful. Then you have a good soldier going to CM (Court Martial) for saying something FAG or “that gay” and are charged with a hate crime and taken off the line. and it will always be the that one great soldier that every Plt Sgt needs.
