The State Police in my jurisdiction are going to “plain talk”. Personally I dont like it, it takes longer, and its less condusive to officer safety, EXAMPLE: “Dispatch check 10-17 on La. 10-26″…as opposed to…”Dispatch will you check active warrants on this Louisiana drivers license number? (for this shit bag who’s fight or flight instinct is in overdive now that he knows what I’m saying)

I always used plain talk as an MP. It was always fun when guys who are cops in the civilian world start using 10 codes and the police adam-brian-charles alphabet. Mass confusion.

It will be important when you federalize everything.

OK … a little history lesson for those still wet behind the ears: “10″ codes, phonetic alphabets, and Morse codes were developed so communications could be effected in high noise environments or under radio-magnetic disturbances or threat.
In fact, Morse — as I understand things — is *still* the only form of communications guaranteed to ‘punch through’ while under nuclear attack … that’s all ‘carrier and no modulation’ for those who know where I’m comin’ from.
Think about it: there may come a time when we don’t have our Play-Stations or Nuvis to hold our hands.
… and that’s a big 10-4, good buddy …
