Science Daily: No Rise In Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide In 150 Years

ScienceDaily (Dec. 31, 2009) — Most of the carbon dioxide emitted by human activity does not remain in the atmosphere, but is instead absorbed by the oceans and terrestrial ecosystems. In fact, only about 45 percent of emitted carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere.

However, some studies have suggested that the ability of oceans and plants to absorb carbon dioxide recently may have begun to decline and that the airborne fraction of anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions is therefore beginning to increase.

Many climate models also assume that the airborne fraction will increase. Because understanding of the airborne fraction of carbon dioxide is important for predicting future climate change, it is essential to have accurate knowledge of whether that fraction is changing or will change as emissions increase.

To assess whether the airborne fraction is indeed increasing, Wolfgang Knorr of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol reanalyzed available atmospheric carbon dioxide and emissions data since 1850 and considers the uncertainties in the data.

In contradiction to some recent studies, he finds that the airborne fraction of carbon dioxide has not increased either during the past 150 years or during the most recent five decades.

The research is published in Geophysical Research Letters.

funny the lac Baikal is getting floadedd these day, is the toundra melting ?

now in some parts of the planet people involvment into modifying climate occured, but certainly not if we consider the whole planet, equilibrium always happens.

you can’t waste or burn more than you have. Sometimes, somewhere the planet remind you that you’re nothing but a tiny louse.

I have an annecdote, I use to go on vacation in Tenerife island, the northern part of the island is green and generally more rainy, the sousthern part used to be like the sahara desert, same climate, scarce vegetals. When some immobilisations promoters decided to invest it, they plant palmers, trees that are usual in the northern part, and the climate of the southern part start to change, green vegetation attracted clouds, with sometime rains, of course still lesser than in the northern part.

Also, if you remember stories of the antiquity, Lebanon used to be full of trees, that Egyptians, Syrians, Jews, erased for construction needs, they were never replanted, so the place got dry, and from these times still is for some parts.

So that’s means that men can only modify their close environnement, The water that comes from clouds, depends on vegetation, and vegetation need carbon to grow, so all the theories in PC are mere deliriums, just observe the nature.

Our old peasants used to know it.

More information that someone had to waste their talents, energy and time to prove. Its like having to prove that 2+2=4 … really no need. Global Warming is a crock of shit … climate change is real … its called WEATHER.

Part of me thinks that it won’t be long before the world drops this climate change horseshit. There’s no science behind it, just a pack of rabid tree-huggers and commies who thought they found the perfect lie to destroy capitalism.

Unfortunately, liberals aren’t too gifted in the coming-out-of-denial department, and will cling to this crap until they put them all in a museum.
