Having spent a great deal of time in the marshes of SW Louisiana, those are regular old gators. When watching a nature show and its hunt for big crocs over 16 feet long I have to laugh because I've seen gators over 16 feet long, several of them.

Any gator trapper who does not get a few 12+ footers annually is not worth his salt.

As for the meat, for me that is more a novelty than worth eating. It takes some work to get all the layers of fat in the tail removed inorder to have a taste that is palatable.

BTW, you can thank Louisiana for the present day gators in Florida. In the early 70's in an attempt to keep the population down, lots of them were trapped live and shipped to Florida which had few gators at the time. They were attacking kids, pets and livestock in peoples yards before the removal began and until a few years after trapping resumed.

If you want to release something in DC to remove the vermin, forget the gators, instead send some gator trappers. They are pretty good at putting a 22 caliber round through tiny brains.

Here's an idea, take a few of those big Gators to Congress while they are in session, turn em loose inside and lock the doors.

Agreed---you can kill and eat a Gator, that is of course unless your name is Dhamer. Then again though, I hear Jehovah's taste kind of gamey.
