probably just ONE asshole made a complaint.
more than likely an athiest too.

    • fingerpointer

Atheists never shut up, so yeah that’s probably it.

  • Justsomeguy

Of all things to bitch about,You would think they could just let this True American live out his last days honoring the country he bleed for…

  • Nanny

I cried when I read this story. For this Medal of Honor vet, for his community and for our country. This is not what great men and women died for. Those that are trying to force this man to take down his flag pole should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. I hope someone takes up his case and he is allowed to honor his country with his daily ritual of putting up our flag.

    • YERMOM

      his senator is on it.

why did he earn a Medal of Honor you might ask…read and weep at your womanliness…

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty on 23 May 1944, near Carano, Italy. With his platoon heavily engaged during an assault against forces well entrenched on commanding ground, 2d Lt. Barfoot (then Tech. Sgt.) moved off alone upon the enemy left flank. He crawled to the proximity of 1 machinegun nest and made a direct hit on it with a hand grenade, killing 2 and wounding 3 Germans. He continued along the German defense line to another machinegun emplacement, and with his tommygun killed 2 and captured 3 soldiers. Members of another enemy machinegun crew then abandoned their position and gave themselves up to Sgt. Barfoot. Leaving the prisoners for his support squad to pick up, he proceeded to mop up positions in the immediate area, capturing more prisoners and bringing his total count to 17. Later that day, after he had reorganized his men and consolidated the newly captured ground, the enemy launched a fierce armored counterattack directly at his platoon positions. Securing a bazooka, Sgt. Barfoot took up an exposed position directly in front of 3 advancing Mark VI tanks. From a distance of 75 yards his first shot destroyed the track of the leading tank, effectively disabling it, while the other 2 changed direction toward the flank. As the crew of the disabled tank dismounted, Sgt. Barfoot killed 3 of them with his tommygun. He continued onward into enemy terrain and destroyed a recently abandoned German fieldpiece with a demolition charge placed in the breech. While returning to his platoon position, Sgt. Barfoot, though greatly fatigued by his Herculean efforts, assisted 2 of his seriously wounded men 1,700 yards to a position of safety. Sgt. Barfoot’s extraordinary heroism, demonstration of magnificent valor, and aggressive determination in the face of pointblank fire are a perpetual inspiration to his fellow soldiers.

YERMOM I firgured John Warner would be kicking some major ass on this. Those little bastards.

    • Hausser

That story sounds a little far fetched I am sorry

Both of my uncles (now dead) were Tech Sgts in Armoured Infantry Divisions.

      One
N Africa Sicily Anzio France Bulge Germany

      other
      Same except started at Sicily

      Great man nonetheless

Just ordered their War Records from St Louis. Can’t wait to read their files

    • American Woman

Sorry senator warner is a POS and is only jumping on the band wagon to save face to try and save his re-election by gaining favor with the “military/patriot vote”. Both him and webb are on the way out and are lock step with this admin. people are pissed around here and see through his BS

    • politicalfish

      Hausser
Just checked out the official website for MOH recipients and Col. Barfoot’s citation is published there. To my knowledge the MOH is not just given away as much background research is done to verify the action before the medal is awarded. So your opinion is worthless. Oh, BTW, no Hausser’s were noted, so STFU.

    • rightangle

      PoliticalFish.
“Hausser” is probably the same “P Hausser” -(see Paul Hausser aka the father of the waffen ss) that was stirring some shit a few years back on a thread when Paul Tibbets died. May be those “uncles” fought on the German side. I’d just like to thank Mr. Barfoot and those following in his footsteps for preserving the freedoms, which should include flying Our National Banner, that too many seem take for granted.

He lives near Richmond, Henrico County. I just watched this, and I am very close to driving down there and staying there all Friday, and sit right on his front porch. Come take this flag. I’ll show aesthetic appropriateness. You want to take him to court, how about being arrested for trespassing?

I would not appear in court or answer a homeowners complaint. They have no stautory authority and are way beyond their skill set with this brother of ours.

  • vincenzo4

By the way, I have a HUGE plag hanging at a 45 degree angle on my front portico outside and my homeowners association was not consulted and know they dare not ask.

  • vincenzo4

plag=flag….you always know when I am pissed: mispellings.

Wow. An incredible citation. I’m sure he’s still got it in him to spear the homegrown enemy standouts square in their heart and kick them to the curb.

Just what occurs when the spirit of the law is lost and letter of the law is taken on by zealouts who have not the fortitude to understand, defend and fight for the very nation that such men as this have given their lives for.

  • DevilDOC

In my front lawn I have an “AMERICAN FLAG” flying and a sign “PROTECTED BY SECOND AMENDMENT” so far my liberal neighbors in commie state of cali is not complaining so far as well as the HOA.

It is always one disgruntle fool that ruins it for the many. It is time to stop catering to the few when the many are the ones who want common sense to be use the PC.

…and this Medal of Honor WWII Vet deserve to fly the flag in his own home!

  • Rezz909

WTF?! This man is a HERO and that’s the respect they are showing him?! If I lived near by I would give my gratitude and respect to Colonel Van Barfoot.

ATHEISTS ARE FUNNY, THEY ARE VERY JUDGEMENTAL PEOPLE. IF YOU EVEN SHOW ANY TYPE OF FAITH OR PATRIOTISM THEY GET REAL DEFFENSIVE.

  • Sgsaur

Here’s a facebook page dedicated to supporting Col. Barfoot.

Everybody repplying on this storey is an atheist… no one believes BHO is their massiah. (que drum roll, symbol crash). Alright now that I got your attention, why the hammering of Atheist? I used to be one. I was what I’d call a “common sense” Atheist. There are very few of us, it is a dying breed (maybe I could get some Barrack money for a habitat). I’m not defending this guy… he’s a pinko commie basterd. In my years of practicing Atheism I well and understood that America is a Judeao-Christian country. I loved this country just as much then as I do now (I’m a christian, might as well not be stuck in a rut alone). I loved it cause I was free to be an atheist, a concept lost on most of my former brethren. I was never offended by the term “merry christmas,” in fact I said it frequently. So watch out for those few “commen sense” atheist. They’re rare but they do exsists. Once again fuck that goddam hippie. Let’s ship his ass to somalia, see how much he enjoys “freedom” when he gets back. I salute the good Colonal for his service

My own grandfather passed away last week at 89. He fought with the Marines at Peleliu and Okinawa during WWII, and no doubt, just like this man, earned the right to fly our flag anywhere he damned well pleased. It’s simply unconscionable the lack of respect some in this country have for our country, values, and the Americans who fought valiantly to keep us free.

If his neighbors had 1/10 of this HERO’S ball, they would put up thier own flag poles and fuck the ASSociation. Get on the board of the ASSociation and let FREEDOM RING!

    • David

“their” not “thier”. I am angry as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.
