World’s Highest Base Jump Off Of World’s Highest Building

Don’t know what planet that reporter lives on. A jumper needs at least 16,000 feet AGL in order to freefall for one and a half minutes. A BASE jump from 2700 feet might allow a ballsy jumper to freefall 8 to 10 seconds.

    From the horse’s mouth.

You sound like the voice of experience. Military or just for fun?

    • Blade Runner

      3000 jumps, all for fun.

    • MohammedSucksHogCock

Cripes! No wonder you went prematurely grey!

the jumpers were not anywhere near the top of the building and seemed to have managed at least 8 seconds of freefall. Burj Dubai, now Burj Khalifa, is 2,760 feet tall, but that is at the very peak of the building, which is not accessible

    Awesome.

  • Minuteman01

I’m glad they found a use for that building.

i saw a guy go off a jump on a snowmobile from atop of a mnt. peak do a inverted flip with his sled and free fall then toss his chute. you guys have nuts the size of a beachball. i think i saw it on slednecks.com. congrats Blade Runner on all your jumps.

Thx, mark, never made a BASE jump though. All mine were out of flying machines–airplanes, balloons, gliders.

A couple years ago a good buddy was killed on a BASE jump off a bridge in Twin Falls, ID. And, I’ve lost a few other skydiving pals along the way.

Skydiving, as with all extreme sports, demands one pay attention to details and to stay right behind your eyeballs when in the air. Can’t be thinking about pizza and pussy when you’re diving straight at the ground at 150 mph. We always measure time in seconds. For instance, if you are at terminal velocity passing through the recommended opening altitude of 2000 feet, you have 6 to 7 seconds to safely deploy your parachute.

Like we always tell the newbs, “take off is optional, landing is mandatory.”

I have seen the base jumpers off the bridge in Twin. I grew up there and the winds in that canyon are deadly when coming off that bridge.

    • Blade Runner

It wasn’t the wind that got him JS, he left a packing tool in the pilot chute and it did not inflate enough to deploy the main. Fuckin bummer, man. Like I said, gotta pay attention to details.

One thousand one…one thousand two…one thousand three…one thousand four!

C130 rolling down the strip…Airborne daddy gonna take a little trip…stand up, hook up, shuffle to the door…jump right out and count to four…if that chute don’t open wide…you’ve got anothone by your side…if that chute don’t open too…look out ground I’m coming through!
