MIAMI, Fla. (AP) — Who Dat won the Super Bowl? The New Orleans Saints, that’s who.

Ain’t kidding.

Put away those paper bags forever: Drew Brees and the Saints are NFL champions, rallying to beat Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 Sunday night in one of pro football’s most thrilling title games.

Brees tied a Super Bowl record with 32 completions, the last a 2-yard slant to Jeremy Shockey for the winning points with 5:42 remaining. The Pro Bowl quarterback was chosen Super Bowl MVP.

New Orleans’ lowly ranked defense made several key stops, an onside kick sparked their second-half comeback, and Tracy Porter’s 74-yard interception return on a pass from Manning, of all people, clinched it.

Manning gave chase, but fell awkwardly as the cornerback raced by. The four-time NFL MVP forlornly walked to the sideline as the Big Easy celebrations began. Who would have thought the biggest mistake of the game would have come from Manning?

An NFL embarrassment for much of their 43 years, the Saints’ football renaissance, led by Brees and coach Sean Payton, climaxed with Shockey’s touchdown and Lance Moore’s 2-point conversion catch. The conversion pass originally was ruled incomplete, but Payton challenged the call and won.

Porter’s pick, just as dramatic as his interception of Brett Favre’s pass to force overtime in the NFC title game, was the game’s only turnover. It’s one Manning will forever regret.

The Saints (16-3) won three postseason games this winter after winning only two in the previous 42 years. They beat Arizona, Minnesota and Indianapolis (16-3) — all division winners — for their first title, scoring 107 points and allowing only 59.

The championship came 4 ½ years after Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans, making the Saints nomads for the 2005 season. There even was some doubt they would return, but the NFL refused to abandon the Big Easy. The Superdome was rebuilt and the Saints won the NFC South in ’06, their first season with Brees and Payton.

That was the season Manning won his only Super Bowl. He had the Colts in front for much of this one, but New Orleans’ league-leading offense, which scored 510 points this season, outscored Indy 31-7 after falling behind 10-0.

Four downs

» The Saints overcame a 10 point deficit to tie the largest comeback win in Super Bowl history.

» The Saints are the seventh team since 1970 to win a Super Bowl title after finishing first in scoring and total offense.

» Colts S Aaron Francisco joins Eugene Robinson (1997 GB, 1998 ATL) as only players in NFL history to lose back-to-back Super Bowls with two different teams (Francisco lost with Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII).

» Peyton Manning threw for at least 300 yards in a playoff game for the eighth time in his career (most in NFL history).

You earned it my comrades, revel in the fruits of your labor. May God Bless Lousiana.

Any team that beats the Indianapolis Colts who were stolen from Baltimore has my eternal gratitude. That son of a bitch prick Irsay not only stole our team, but the name, the colors and history. When we stole the Cleveland Browns, we left these things with Cleveland.

    congrats louisiana.

Ahhh yes !!! David’s from Charm City, eh?

Well Dave, can we talk? I too remember the Mayflower vans in the dead of night. And after all the eleventh-hour negotiations. Oh! The humiliation! And the Ravens? What a hyped-up, plastic squad … never could get in to them. Let’s all agree that the heritage of 33rd Street is gone forever. Your kids and grands have no idea what da hell you’re talking about anyways, so ya might as well just drop it.

Time to let go. I mean, c’mon Dave … did you act this way when Washington DC stole the Batimore Bullets (nee, “Wizards”?)

All is fair in love and war … and sports, too.

We have been waiting a long long time for this. New Orleans is having a parade for the Saints this Tuesday and the crowds will probably be as big as any Mardi Gras day. This city is going CRAZY! (without the burning cars and broken windows)

Looks like things may finally be looking up for the city of New Orleans. First, The city elected a new mayor on Saturday (the 1st white mayor in over 30 years) to replace that dipshit Nagin, and now this.

It seems that only folks in Louisiana have paid any attention to the head fake when Landrieu juked the nation out of its jocks with the “Louisiana Purchase.” This was a Jindal request when he knew that she was going to vote for Obamacare.

What Landrieu really got was the license to steal via her little brother. It is well to note that the “black” leaders supported her brother this time around with the promise of shit piles of Federal money from the Dems via Zero to steal from.

Now we all know that Brees got his pre-game chant from the USMC down at Gitmo.

Being a Clevelander, I am glad the Saints won. I am a Raiders fan, so no skin on the Browns.

Did anyone listen to Obambo talking before the game? My wife actually turned that on, I heard about 30 seconds of his blather, went and took a healthy dump the rest of the time Obambo was on. End results smelled the same, and after my actions, at least I felt better…

BELIEVE DAT :!: GEAUX SAINTS :!: HELL YES :!:

    LET THE LOOTING BEGIN

Personally, I think Obambi jinxed the mighty Colts. He should have knocked on his wooden head after he made his prediction!

Yes T-Bagg I immediately jumped up “knowing” that we won, but the suddenly realized that the Colts and Manning would get the ball back.

Before the interception, I was planning on seeing the Colts score a TD to tie up the game and the Saints possibly bringing it down for a winning field goal.

Without Hartley being down the center with his 3 fg’s it would have been a long night for the Saints.
