Rep John Murtha Dies At 77 - With Video

February 8th, 2010 Posted By Erik Wong.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A spokesman says Democratic Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a retired Marine Corps officer who became an outspoken critic of the Iraq war, has died. He was 77.

He had been suffering complications from gallbladder surgery.

In 1974, Murtha became the first combat veteran of the Vietnam War elected to Congress. He wielded considerable clout for two decades as a leader of the House subcommittee that oversees Pentagon spending. But frustration over the Iraq war led him to call for an immediate pullout of U.S. troops in 2005.

Murtha’s congressional career was clouded by questions about his ethics—from the Abscam corruption probe in 1980 to more recent investigations into the special-interest spending known as earmarks and the raising of cash for election campaigns.

  1. For all the fine Marines you smeared, burn in hell, Murtha. And good fucking riddance, you fat bastard.

    • Maelstrom,

I felt the need to be reserved on this story at my own blog but that doesn’t mean I can’t let rip here at Dollard, but alas, I couldn’t have said it ANY better than you have here.

You took the words right out of my mouth regarding this two-faced back stabbing piece of shit.

    • mike3481

My only regret is that he didn’t stick around until election night next November so he could witness the utter destruction of the Democrat Party via the ballot box.

    • Murtha said our Marines in Fallujah and Ramadi were murderers, rapists, and terrorists.

My oldest son, God rest his heroic soul, gave his life there, in Fallujah, in the service of his country. He was not a murderer, he was not a rapists, he was not a terrorists.

But where ole Jackie boy is going he will get well aquainted with all of those types of people. He will get to know murderers, rapists, and terrorists real well on the sulfuric streets of eternal hell. Where:

“Their worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched” Mark 9: 44.

“Then shall He say unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” Matt. 25: 41.

“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the phalse prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” Rev. 20: 10.

“And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Rev. 20: 15.

  4. Political.fish

I am glad his seat is now vacant. Let us now fill it with a patriot rather than a traitor.

  5. MinneSoCold

Finally did something right…. stopped breathing.

So Murtha must be one of the CORPSEman Obama was talking about.

See, you can’t go earmarking pet projects that you name after yourself while you’re still alive. Can’t buy your own karma points asshole.

For all the marines out there…. justice served. B.I.H. Murtha.

  6. Chopper

    Good riddance.

  7. A GREAT DAY IN THE USA. ALL CAPS ARE WARRANTED!!!!!!!!

  8. martdod

I feel bad for his family, but I hope he rots in hell!

  9. MohammedSucksHogCock

We may now return to the world of “There are no ex-Marines.”

Good riddance, you turncoat scumbag.

  10. So long. Goodbye. Good riddance.

  11. Ivan the Kafir

Never thought the day would come. While I’m thinking of it, what’s going on with Sen. Byrd these days? Do they let him out of the nursing home anymore?

  12. March

God, please ease the pain for the members of Murtha’s family.

Oh, and thank you for easing ours, too.

  13. cuchieddie (Enemy of the State)

This Army combat veteran wishes Murtha burns in hell for eternity. That bottom feeding maggot brought nothing but discredit upon America and the Marines Corp. OK, now bring on Carter and Byrd, they need immediate dispatching.

  14. EL GONZO

I don’t think he was ever a TRUE marine…..I’m sure his family will miss him, as for the rest us us, I hope you run into 27 VIRGINIANS pissed off at you…….

  15. Tom Of Wales

God works in ways we can not always understand, but not today!

  16. Wilson

The last living ex-marine has “assumed room temperature.”

Wonder if the PA taxpayers can close that stupid airport now.

  17. BradW (the Infidel)

My condolences to his family, and I thank the Senator for his service to the country, for when he wore the uniform with pride.

To his actions and policies as a politician, I am glad we now have the chance to do better.

Those of you ripping on him, remember what we were all told as kids, to never speak ill of the dead. Yes, he said and did some poor things, and HE has to pay for that now.

I am a Marine Vet, and Army Vet, so I can speak. Any other vets to want to say one way or the other, they have earned the right to. Any of you not vets, all you should be doing is wishing his family well, and pray for them.

Just remember the Lord works in mysterious ways, so you may not want to build some bad karma for yourselves.

    • Oil Robber

You don’t have to be a vet to speak negatively about a former politician. Regardless of military status. That makes him fair game. My prayers to the family. Not necessarily him

    • B. A.

      Amen, Brad.

    • EL GONZO

Somehow the entire country has earned bad karma called OBAMA….Hopefully, our lord will work something out on that one too….no ill intent, I just want to save my country, and that trumps all else….and THANKS for serving our country.

    • Molly

First I would like to thank you for your service to this country.

My father is an Air Force vet and the exact words that came out of his mouth when I told him Murtha had passed were,”good riddance.”

It may not be the proper thing to speak ill of the dead, but people are entitled to their opinions whether you agree or not.

I am sorry for Murtha’s family, but he was no saint and he will get what is coming to him.

    • AFITgrad86

I get really upset when the libs wish ill of a conservative or have snarky comments when one of those more in harmony with our way of thinking passes on. So I believe that you have struck a reasonable balance and we can be happy for the change in representation without being offensive.

Yes I am a vet (23 years retired “mustang”)so I’ll toss in my two bits … Ours is not to forgive and forget … merely to forgive. So let us not forget that which he did, but forgive him anyway. We’ll long remember the things he did that were wrong and it it up to us not to allow other the chance to get away with such again.

Trust that God will judge him and we won’t need to burden ourselves with that chore.

    • brotherscoobs

as a vet myself…i can say that his “svc” as a politician dishonored his svc with the marines. the same goes for kerry. as a politician he stood on the side that supported all that is bad and does not work( sorry i can’t put it as eloquently as evan sayet )
i pray his family finds peace…and i am sure murtha himself has ALOT to answer for to his maker

    • Xcrypto

      Brad… get off the “I’m a vet, you’re not” crap !
One reason we became vets was to defend the right of all Americans to speak out on any subject. I’m not sure you understand that.

    • BradW (the Infidel)

      Xcrypto,

One, up yours. I have no problem with anyone criticizing Murtha’s service as a politician. Anyone who votes has the right to critique elected officials. Anyone who doesn’t vote doesn’t have a whole lot of room if they do not exercise their rights at the ballot box. Those who have not served and critique the military service of anyone are in the same category of all the libs who denigrate all service memebers. Did I want Murtha out of office? Yes. I did not wish him dead.

Two, Not sure how long you have been posting here or reading the posts, but after a couple years of posting, If you have been a regular and paid attention, you would realize that I understand a hell of a lot more than you seem to think I do.

I really do not get into the I’m a vet your not crap, as you so eloquently put it. What I am into is being sick of those who critique others and have no idea what they have done, such as anyone who has never worn the uniform, never served in combat, never bled, ripping into those who have done so much for the country. Hypocrits piss me off to no end.

Since you became a vet to defend the right to speak out on stuff you know nothing about, I’ll bet you are one of the best armchair politicians, monday morning quarterback, and jail house lawyer. Good for you

I became a Marine because i wanted to be one of the best, I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s. I can still see in my mind the Marines coming back from VN being spit on by “peace Protestors” as it was broadcast on TV. as a kid it confused me, and made me want to honor those who had served by returning the favor. I wanted to make sure this country was safe from those who wanted to destroy us, and that includes what many would consider traitors.

I have had enough different careers in my so far short life that I can critique those in those fields.

That includes banking, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, restaurant management and wait staff, managment, investment advisors, insurance sales, various factory jobs and politics.

I have never done anything dishonorable. I have done plenty of stupid things, but nothing aI would hide from my family. Maybe that is why I have been fairly successful, maybe that is why I have not been wildly successful, only the Lord knows.

All I know is, I don’t suffer fools lightly

    • Xcrypto

Brad, you sound somewhat like a charlatan, perhaps the biggest hypocrite of all. Those who have not served have every right to critique the military. We work for them…period. We are not a militaristic nation. Get off you high horse. You sound more like a wannabe, than an actual vet. Any fraud can blog.

    • Xcrypto

Brad, sorry about you not being able to hold a job. But stop fantasizing about being a Marine. You may have actually wanted to be in the service…wheather it was your bed wetting problems, wearing ladies panties or your latent homosexual tendencies that kept you out… I’m sure there is no end to the reasons why you could not serve. I’m sure it’s lonely living in your Mother’s basement, with just video games and your Boy Band CD’s for reality. Blog elsewhere or go bore the kids at Chuck Cheese with you wild vet stories.

    • Chopper

I have to agree with Xcrypto, well his main concept, on this one. Obviously anyone who has served should be given a certain level of respect and thanks from every American citizen who may not have been able to serve for one reason or another. But Brad you served to protect the rights of those American citizens to have the right to voice their opinions, even if they aren’t the same as yours.

To limit someone’s ability to criticize based solely on what job’s you may or may not hold is crazy.

Guess since I’ve never been a politician maybe I shouldn’t criticize Obama anymore.

    • Max Power

I agree with Brad…If you’ve never done the job, you have no right to critique those doing their job, and to that end…

Rodney King was never a police officer, therefore he has no right to critique the LAPD on their methods of handling speeders who are stoked on LSD. Neither do the lawyers, liberals, or ‘journalists’…

    • BradW (the Infidel)

      Xcrypto,

maybe the crypto about you needs to get out of your parents basement, hanging down there playing D&D is not the same as being in crypto in any of the services. as far as your charges of fraud or being a charlatan, yeah, whatever.

Served, if you want to call me on it, you are more than welcome to head to Cleveland, I am more than willing to provide whatever proof you want, whether is dd214, or other proof whatever you want.

You want to call me out on it, you haul your worthless ass up here puke.

sounds like you are an expert in what keeps people out of the service. how many categories did you “qualify” in? I wouldn’t have known there were so many.

or do you hang around the local MEPS station, hoping to find a reject from the navy to “comfort”?

Oh, wait, maybe you are that freak dude that hangs out train station wearing that short red dress without shaving his legs. Dude, are you one ugly motherfucker…did your daddy shave your mothers back before mating with her?

All I know is you don’t know squat. other that to piss like the little bitch you are

tell me all about the boy bands, you should have a nice little collection of tapes…

      pissant

    • Xcrypto

Gosh Brad, I don’t think you like me any more. But, that’s life. Now get off you Mothers computer and go tell her it’s time for Sponge Bob and a diaper change.

    • Max Power

Obviously Brad is young, didn’t re-enlist in the Marines for fear of receiving a dishonorable discharge due to his excitability and obvious anger issues, so because he is a hardcore wannabe, he begged the army to take him.

The same anger ‘issues’ prevented him from holding any of his aforementioned jobs for very long. He lists 10 different ‘professions’ with the word ‘various’ in front of factory worker. I assume that means he has had a minimum of 3-4 factory jobs. Has he ever held a job for more than a year?

The two 2 year enlistments in the service is probably the longest he’s ever held a job, the only problem was that they couldn’t fire him!

      Calm down boy.

    • BradW (the Infidel)

Ooo, Xcryptoand Max Power, you are both so scary! maybe that is why you have to hide behind fake names. you are both so powerful. Xcrypto plays with his super secret decoder ring and Radio Shack walkie Talkie and he thinks he is qualified to imply he worked in cryptology. Max Power must be hyped up on Red Bull.

Max Power must have one suped up Xbox to qualify for such an impressive moniker.

Yeah, the 6 years in the Corps and the 6 in the Army, those 12 years ARE the longest stretch I worked for one organization. The United States.

Too bad you boys want to stay in the closet. sounds like a couple of posers from Daily Kos trying to sound like real men.

Typical Liberal bullshit, act high and mighty, and criticise those who have done what you don’t have the fortitude or courage to do yourself.

Complain about the people running the country, when you have no experience in anything yourselves. I notice that neither one of you have the balls to say you would be heading this way to prove yourselves right and me wrong. Just like the media, false accusations, not willing to investigate or back up what you say.

I am proud of the service I gave this great country, too bad me and thousands of others have done so so pukes like you can denigrate us. If you hate it so much, move to where you think it is great.

If you don’t like the way things are going, get your sorry asses out and do something about it other than post crap like you have. You both probably have been drooling for the chance to reply “It depends on what the meaning of is is” ever since your hero said those words.

I have never asked for thanks for the service I gave, I proudly wore the uniform.

Maybe the fact that I have been through so much makes me see things a little differently than you two. At least I have lived.

Oh, Xcrypto, I loved your little jab at trying to imply I can’t hold a job. Twist my words around, you are a good little liberal lap dog.

the fact that I have taken my enjoyment of learning new things from the service to civilian life must really grind you. Rip on me all you want. Learning numerous skills is the trade mark of a good Marine, Green Beret, Ranger, Recon, SEAL, and almost every other service member past and present.

I honor those who served before me to the present day, and the future.

The fact that others have skills I may not doesn’t lead me to deride them and falsely accuse them. When I do not believe something I make the effort to find the facts before making base statements, something that seems neither of you have the spine to do.

In my opinion, you have insulted anyone who who has worn the uniform with the claim of having multiple skills means you can’t do something well, which is exactly what you did with the accusation of me not being able to hold a job.

Go ahead and glory in the death of Murtha. Tear into what he did as a Marine. do the same for every other person you do not like, that shows real character.

I respect the late veteran for his service, and as I had posted numerous times on other threads, I do not respect most of what he did as a politician, and due to that, feel he lost the right to be called a former Marine. That still does not take away what he did in uniform.

Now, the two of you can go ahead and tear into me again for any typos or grammar errors. That will make you such men, like most of the other posers. Code Pink must be so proud of you.

    • Max Power

Brad, you completely missed the whole point. Neither Xcrypto or myself made a single comment about Murtha’s death or his service.

YOU said ‘Any of you not vets, all you should be doing is wishing his family well, and pray for them. ‘

The military exists and is for the service of those who do not serve. Your mightier than thou attitude is exactly the state of mind that the military stands AGAINST. We make every effort to remove those over zealous individuals from positions of power, especially in the military. As Xcrypto states, we are not a militaristic nation as you would have us believe.

I have not and will not comment on Murtha’s service or his current condition.

Get it thru your little jarhead pee brain, I am commenting on YOU and your attitude problem.

Every American citizen has the RIGHT to comment and speak their mind about the service men and women who serve us.

    • Xcrypto

Brad … are you sure you are responding to me? I never said anything about the death of Murtha or your lack of grammar skills; getting a GED didn’t work out for you either. You need to calm down. Listen to your doctor when he tells you that you need to separate the realities of your basement dwelling existence from your fantasized military career. You were not a Marine, Green Beret, Ranger, Recon, SEAL. Take Max Power’s suggestion and just calm down…get back on your meds. Maybe some home schooling will help you pass the GED next time…talk to your mom about it.

    • BradW (the Infidel)

Xcrypto, I see you are still avoiding the challenge to come find the proof of my service, just like the liberal media refuses to look at proof.

      Enjoy your subterranean dwelling

    • Xcrypto

Brad, It’s not about weather you actually served or not. It’s about you attitude that only those with military service could comment on military veterans. An American’s right to speak is not based on anything except the Constitution we live under. If you have not read it, pick up a copy and read it. It’s probably the most amazing and profound document ever written. . And by actually reading it, you will have one-up on Obama…he’s never read it either. Next time I’m in Cleveland, we’ll get together for a Guinness… if you are of legal drinking age. Semper Fidelis …

  18. Guess he’ll be answering that old nagging question that pertains to;

    “Thou shalt not steal”

  19. USMCTANKS

Traitorous fat bastard……to bad the real Marines you pretended to serve with didn’t frag your dumb fat ass when they had the chance. Would of saved us a hell of a lot of trouble. You provided comfort to the enemy while Soldiers and Marines were in the field. You were a disgrace to the name MARINE! And I for one hope you burn in Hell. :gun: :gun: :gun:

    • Bob USMC

      Yep.

Funny thing, libs never think their words influence our wars, (”liberal dissent is patriotic”, blah blah ) yet now they are saying criticism of the messiahObamarxist is helping AQ, but they only say that for purely political purposes. What a neurotic bunch of hypocrites! And that gasbag Murtha was right there with them all in playing politics with our troops at war, he’s beyond disgusting! I’m ashamed that he ever wore a Marine uniform.

      :gun: :gun: :gun:

  20. Ralph Ulm

Combat vet who stuffed a fucking grenade up his ass to get his Purple Heart. Does he qualify for the 72 virgin goat deal??? Bury the fat fuck with his ass pointed to all his friends in the East, and don’t forget the fucking Mooselimb Star and Crescent on his tombstone. Somewhere in a shit-infested cave, Mooselimbs are crying and beating their breasts for the loss of one of their own. Over here, we got Mardi Gras, a Saints win and a Murthafucker funeral. The ONLY thing that could top that is a busload of Liberals driving off a very high cliff - with ALL seats occupied.

Check the shadows behind you, Reid and Pelosi - you’ll see a hooded figure with a large Scythe just counting down …………………….

    • Ralph Ulm

BTW, props to the Surgical Team who left all the sponges in Fat Bastard. The scary part is that is what the citizens can expect if Zero’s Health Care goes through. It’s a regular occurrence up in Canada where Dr. Doornail Alumwalla from Upper Punjab, Dr. Isotopo-from-Bombay-Dishwalli, Dr. Mikumbo Dickinmymoutho from Ghana, and Dr. Oogabooga Illuwilaiiutepo from Senegal operate on their patients.
All the good Canadian docs left for the USA years ago. Now, they’re shitting in their pants waiting for the Zero Hammer to fall.

  21. latheman

that’s one Marine that will not be guarding streets in Heaven he will be filling potholes in HELL

  22. Goodbye Natalie

I am a Marine Vet, and Army Vet, so I can speak. Any other vets to want to say one way or the other, they have earned the right to. Any of you not vets, all you should be doing is wishing his family well, and pray for them.

Why? Does that mean only Vets can mourn other Vets? Are we citizens who didn’t serve supposed to turn the other cheek about traitors in our midst too? Not get involved? Say nothing of John Kerry?

Don’t get me wrong. As someone who never served, I’m damn grateful for those that do, and have been very vocal in my support and means for you and your families.

But never forget, even our military ultimately answers to its citizenry.

As far as Murtha, I have never wished death upon him. But I do wish for justice - and today, Murtha could not hide behind the fact that he a Congressman. Justice prevailed. In fact, Murtha found out today he would then be held to a higher standard for that granted.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.

    I’ll leave it at that.

You know, you raise an interesting point Rex.

I had a former Green Beret Medic, (Vietnam), describe to me a guy’s death from sepsis,(a blood infection), in a hospital here in the U.S. following surgery, it was an absolute horror story.

The video above said the Traitor died peacefully, well if he died from sepsis they would’ve have had to darn near kill him with morphine or some other opiate for him to have anything resembling a “peaceful death”.

    I’m not wishing, just saying…

  33. Bob

Some politician was on Fox News and said this is why we DON’T need tort reform. Murtha died from malpractice according to this democrat congressman.

    • copperpeony

Malpractise??? The doc deserves a medal :!: I wish I knew who he was because I would write him a letter of congratulations.

    • Kentucky Jim

If it was a Navy doctor (assumption) performing in a Navy hospital (Bethesda), for free (well, he was a congresscritter), the “malpractice” rules get a bit sticky.

  34. copperpeony

This is the only blog that I can actually say how I feel about this scumbag. I don’t care if he was a Marine ( there are many bad eggs there too) because this man was the most corrupt asshole that ever lived.

I met a vet who really knew John Kerry in Vietnam.
Was in the same {dont know the term for it} squadron as him. Worked along side of him and captained a boat same as kerry.
I tried to get him to call in to some talk show, but he wouldnt.
He had absolutely nothing good to say about him.
Need to find a vet who knew Murtha.
