CFN 13:

ORLANDO — One person is dead after an incident at SeaWorld.

According to a witness, one of the trainers got pulled into the Shamu tank in Shamu Stadium and was killed.

Orange County EMT officials were called out to SeaWorld after it was reported a woman was not breathing. Around 2:30 p.m. News 13 received confirmation from Orange County Fire Rescue that it was a fatality.

Whale Incidents At SeaWorld

Including today, there have been 22 incidents since the early 70s involving whales at SeaWorld.

In November 2006 at SeaWorld San Diego, an orca whale pulled 39-year-old trainer Ken Peters below the surface by his foot. Peters eventually managed to safely exit the pool.

In July of 2004 at SeaWorld San Antonio, trainer Steve Aibel was attacked for several minutes during a show. Amazingly he was not hurt.

    Free Willy.

Killer whales doing what killer whales and left wing liberal do. One should never trust either one.

  • Stabinator

I feel sorry for the person who died, but that’s what happens when you cage a highly intelligent predator. Eventually it is going to get pissed and take out it’s frustration on somebody. This is not the first, nor likely the last time this has happened. I am no eco-nut, but I think it is wrong to keep animals like this in captivity for our amusement.

 They’re called Killer Whales for a reason. No matter what kind of human traits people attach to them or training they are given they will always be Killer Whales.

Yeap, you also mean like folks that are intelligent, with predatory skills, are patriots and they start to get pissed off day by day in the big tank called AMERICA? Yeah, I see your point…It is wrong to keep creatures like that pissed for toooooo long at the amusement of liberals, Obongo, Reid and that whore-bag festering mold-covered piece of Diarrhea by the name of Pelosi. YEAP, it’s cruel to keep such captivity longer than it needs to….. Sorry, didn’t mean to connect the dots but to your main point Stabinator, your dead on.

    survival of the fittest.

  • EL GONZO

Let’s pay for the Obamas to visit SeaWorld soon.

  • Peter

Tragic for the trainer and her family &friends. However, 12,000lb. animals playing with a 150lb. human are going to do some damage just doing what they do naturally. Surprised this doesn’t happen more often.

Let me say, my condolences to the family members and friends of the trainer that was attacked. May she rest in peace.

Now, for some non-PC thoughts and questions that raced through my mind after reading this story because it was a bit lax on the details …

Did the poor woman drown by being held under the water or did the whale thrash her?

    Was there blood?

That must have sucked for the kids in the audience.

I wonder if the kids will have nightmares.

Did the people at the show get a refund?

Was the attack obvious where the audience knew right away was going on?

How many people in the audience thought it was part of the show at first?

Did any of the kids (of the sick and twisted variety) ask if they could do that trick again?

Has Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed submitted a bill for nationally banning Orcas yet? (I ask because this whale has now killed more people than all my guns combined).

 CplViper, “Has Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed submitted a bill for nationally banning Orcas yet? (I ask because this whale has now killed more people than all my guns combined).”

Talk about one of the most profound statements I have read on Dollard!

Quick, copyright your statement, and we need to get the NRA, along with many of their celebrity members trumpeting that across our great nation!

A great pro- 2nd Amendment bumper sticker.

I’ve seen her perform on several occasions. The accident didn’t happen during a show. There is a more detailed account here

      My she rest in peace.

Maybe Nancy could volunteer to take her place as a trainer?

while i always feel, on General Principle, compassion for anyone who dies an untimely death, i have absolutely NO horrified sympathy for those who die at the hands of wild animals (or others who go out of their way to undertake extremely risky behavior and then die).

you take your chances and that’s that. and an animal is an animal is an animal and can’t be blamed for what it is.

yeah, cold hearted maybe. but pragmatic.

  • EL GONZO

This story reminds me of Obama in a strange way. When you work with dangerous animals, you need to heed the warning of dangerous consequences.
When you vote (not me!!!) for this Ass hole socialist, even when he said what he said during the invasion… I mean the campaign, and expect the Constitution to be safe, heed the warning of dangerous consequences…..

  • William Ayres

Lets start a petition to club baby killer whales, this is the only way we will be safe….

  • Noway2no

I guess it’s true that the three most common last words are: “hey watch this”.

Must be a rush working closely with such awesome animals. It’s a rush because it is dangerous just like many other endeavors.

It is why we are drawn to such pursuits.

I pray for the family and anyone who witnessed it but she was living on the edge and fell off. That’s life.

  • RexRedbone

This is the 3rd time this animal has killed someone the 2nd just so happend to be a homeless guy and had bite marks on his leg.
The long and short this animal is trained but it also reverts back to what it dose best Hunts to Kill I wonder if they Tazed the whale to get it to release her?
