“Miss Me Yet?”: The Bush Billboard Is Real

NPR:

Internet chatter had led to speculation that it might be an urban myth — nothing more than clever digital trickery spreading via the Web.

But our friend Bob Collins at Minnesota Public Radio assures us he’s seen it with his own eyes:

There is a billboard along I-35 near Wyoming, Minn., with a huge photo of former president George W. Bush and this question: “Miss Me Yet?”

Now, the push is on to find out who paid to have it put up.

Bob says there’s no readily apparent claim of ownership on the billboard, so he’s heading back to the scene to see if he can find out who’s behind the message. He’s also got some local politicos looking into it. He’ll keep us posted.

At first glance, it would seem to be from some person or group who isn’t thrilled by President Barack Obama’s performance so far — unless it’s a more ironic message from those who didn’t think too much of Bush and want to remind voters about him.

Anyone out there know anything about where it came from? Tell us and we’ll pass the word to Bob. As he says, we could do a little crowdsourcing.

Update at 1:15 p.m. ET, Feb. 9: Wait, I spoke too soon. Bob passes along word that the “mystery” has been partly solved:

Mary Teske, the general manager of Schubert & Hoey Outdoor Advertising reports, “The Bush Miss Me Yet? billboard was paid for by a group of small business owners who feel like Washington is against them. They wish to remain anonymous. They thought it was a fun way of getting out their message.”

Update at 1:10 p.m. Feb. 9: No news yet on the person behind the billboard, so to speak. But Bob went by and took his own photo of it, so we’re now using his shot above.

Man, I have missed him since January 22, 2009.

    • vincenzo4

Same here. he knew what he was inheriting when he ran the first time-and knew the treachery that would follow him in January 2009. Shame actually, the propaganda machine that belittled that man.

I’m very confident this administration will be found out for what and who it is. This is a dangerous administration. Very dangerous.

  • rightangle

Won’t be long before some lefty has a relapse of BDS and vandalizes the picture.

  • Reloader449

    LOL! That’s Fucking GREAT!

This article makes me realize that I don’t believe we’ve seen the last of this great American in the political scene. He’s a fighter, I heard somewhere that he carries a personal firearm, and Yes … I miss him.

    • trustme1013

Mmmm! I bet he does! And, I bet he has a double-barrel in his truck! I’m sure his confidence in the Secret Service was shaken after he got hit with a shoe!

    • J-Two

      He ducked the shoe bro.

MUST FIND PERPETRATOR OF THIS CRIME AGAINST PROGRESSIVE HOPE-N-CHANGE AND PERSECUTE THE MESSENGER!!!

  • CPLViper

The best would be … if on the adjacent billboard there would be a picture of Cheney with the words …. “Yeah, I thought so”

    • http://WWW.FARMERS.COM AARON

      Thats Great!!

  • David

Yeah, well W wasn’t all that great. He and the republicans had control of congress and spent like democrats, not as much by any measure, but they spent and spent. If W were a real conservative, he would have vetoed all of those pork laden bills and sent them back to the WHORES in congress, telling them to get it right. We need leaders who will say what they mean and mean what they say. And adhere to the Constitution.

    • CPLViper

      Agreed.

    • political.fish

      Well said.

    • JayMS

Yah, I would agree with you as well. Though I don’t feel Bush should get sole blame. Bush signed off on whatever spending the dems wanted in exchange for them to keep voting to fund the war. They both had eachoter over a barrel so to speak.

Bush is a very kind, courageous, and decent man. Right after the Fort Hood shooting he hopped in his own personal car and drove straight down without a security escort. Pulls up to the gate and Fort Hood and demands to be let in and tells them he does not want a security escort only to see the families and those who were wounded. Then you look at the Obama response….

I do not miss many of the Bush spending policies but definately having a prez with strong leadership, a towering strength of conviction, and the balls to face down our enemies and not back down no matter what.

Don’t get me wrong – I love the billboard and it certaintly makes a good point. But honestly, I don’t miss Bush, I miss Ronald Reagan.

  • neofish

A better “Miss Me Yet?” billboard…

I miss GWB, but I miss Reagan more… these Reagan billboards are DAMN STRAIGHT… Good work Minne… they bring a tear to my eye

  • mark gibbons

i miss your stance on protecting the U.S.A. other than that you were a progressive amnesty loving scum-bag. you had a chance to close the borders and you fucking choked. i do not miss you or your illegal loving family members. you were a major league fuck-up. if you would have been wise you would not have spent our money like a drunk. your child left behind program was another fuck-up, bipartisinship never works with a kennedy. you should have stepped aside and let a real man run the whitehouse. cheney atleast would stand up for his country. cheney-bolton 2012

  • Sully

wtf is up with the BDS here??
There is no equivalency – political, moral or cultural – to be drawn between Bush and Barry.
The nationalization and wealth redistribution schemes of Barry and the Progs make Bush…. well, bush league.

‘Big Government’ goes back to Alexander Hamilton and found its current stride in financing for the Civil War when war-time tax policies were continued post-war to finance nationalist ‘social justice’ schemes.

  • mark gibbons

his stance on illegals suck. he proved to be a progressive. to get this country back it starts with getting every illegal mexican, brazilian, irishman, oriental, and whoever else is here out of this country. amnesty is not the way to fix this problem. round zem up. bush failed big time on this. facts are facts. personally this issue is close to my heart as i have seen what drunk driving illegals get away with. and the amount of work that is lost because of freeloading illegals is killing this country. (yes i have a heart.) no more presidents who love amnesty.

    • Sully

Yeah well like I said mark… there’s no equivalency Bush to Barry…. and you’re off on some fucked up hissy fit that has nothing to do with the billboard.
And you were alot more ‘tolerant’ of Scott Brown who is likely left of Bush.
      Just sayin’.

  • mark gibbons

Sully – you are right. i am so fucking wrong. George Bush was a great man of honor. you knew where he stood on the issues and he did many great things in his service. i was having a tantrum. brown will never be able to fill the shoes of George Bush.

  • Sully

    lol
Too late for the mea culpa mark…. Keith Olberman is tryin to track you down for an interview.

    • mark gibbons

i will wear a suicide belt to the interview.

  • Nick1970

    I miss him.

Sure, people like Michelle Malkin can bitch all they want, but flaws aside, Bush was a man of integrity and conviction. Right or wrong, he always did what he believed to be best for the good of America & the free world, even at the cost of his own popularity.

0bama — not so much. :gun:

I would miss Hitler given Obongo’s intent on America…….
