Beyond The Nuclear Option: Senate Has “Slaughter Solution” To Say Health Care Has Already Passed!

Democrats are desperate to ram their government takeover of health care through Congress – so desperate that they now plan to say the Senate bill has “passed” without actually voting on it. This is the “Slaughter Solution” devised by Rules Committee Chairwoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY), and Congress Daily has the story:
“House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the healthcare overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday.
“Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version.”
Not only is this latest plot legislative trickery of the worst kind, it reminds us of the dozens of “phantom amendments” added by Senate Democrats to their bill AFTER the committee had approved it. Nobody voted on those amendments. And now House Democrats don’t want anyone to vote on the Senate bill itself.
Democrats are really playing with fire here: pushing a deeply unpopular bill through Congress without even requiring a vote won’t sit well with the American people.
