That’s Hollyweird isn’t it? These limp-wrist ass pirates haven’t made a decent war movie since John “Fucking” Wayne died. Never mind reality they say; let’s tell the war from our perspective and flavor it with anti-war messages and dishonor the troops.
You Bollywood types need to join and saddle up for some real life experiences instead of sitting around a bong, dreaming up shit.

Notice that the CNN “reporter” is an “entertainment reporter” not an actual “reporter”. Oh – that’s right CNN no longer has reporters.

There’s a real chance more people will see the video here than on CNN.
Seriously.

Ok having not seen “The Hurt Locker” or ever worked around Air Force E.O.D. I have to say that Army E.O.D. are some seriously “throwed off” individuals, and I say that not as a insult, but with the utmost endearment, reverence, and respect. I worked with one particular unit extensively in A-Stan, and those were some of the best people, and soldiers, that I have ever had the pleasure to work with.
Yes, they follow their rules and regulations to a point, but I’ve seen them do some things I know could never been recommended in an Army F.M.
I have not, and dont intend to see this movie (I scrutinize war movies too much especially ones that I have direct knowledge of). But if this movie portrays E.O.D. as a little “wild” they may not be too far off reality.
Lone Wolf
A sergeant going rogue and running through Baghdad at night by himself with a pistol and a three man EOD team clearing and securing a building and chasing a bad guy through city alleys at night (resulting in a near-kidnapping) are some of the ‘real life’ situations shown in the movie.
Cold Soldier
Lone Wolf
I definetly call B.S. on that

The reason the old war movies were so good was back in the 40s, 50s, & 60s, when they made a war movie, most of the actors, producers and directors had actual combat experience. Now the Hollywood pussies go to Dale Dye’s “Actor Bootcamp” for 10 days and think they know what military life and combat are like. I enjoy watching the dvd special features on current war movies to listen to the actors bitch about how hard they have it living in a 5-star hotel and getting up at the crack of 0700 for “Bootcamp” call at 0930. Fuck’em.

Yep, pretty hard to replace people like Lee Marvin.

Its a pretty good movie.. but its just that A MOVIE! If you want to see an “accurate” movie about war then make one.
who cares, it is a movie. was top gun real, navy seals real, saving private ryan real? its entertainment. i think the lady that directed hurt is the x wife of the director of avitar. the movie was made a while back but held until last year release to compete against avitar. think there is some other messages that are being sent that is only important to hollywood types. since when do guys worry about the oscars anyway???
DaMan
i really don’t see what the big upset is. im a pretty gungho pro mil guy but i don’t think a movie where the main char is a rouge, with a death wish, and the rest of the guys are always trying to deal with him and his bullshit is a slap at our military or america. sure the guy would be kicked out real quick in real life. but its a MOVIE.
Lone Wolf
Because it’s the narrative of the Left: “soldiers are crazy, out-of-control, maniac, baby-killing torturers of brown-skinned people who just wanted to live like us” mindset. Never mind that they are professionals and nothing of the sort, in fact vets are much less likely to commit violent crimes than the overall civilian population. But in spite of this, the narrative gives the Left cover to do things like strip vets of their gun rights if they have ever been treated for PTSD, for instance: http://gunowners.org/a010808.htm

I think you are reading too much into it, Lonewolf. Sure it wasn’t accurate, so everyone who was over there says. But there aren’t a lot of movies about the last 9 years that are.
So we get an indi movie that to me was pro troop. I liked it. At least it was SOMETHING.
I hated private Ryan on second and further screenings once the shock effect was done.
Band of Brothers, We Were Soldiers Once, pretty decent.

We went through this bs with the movies painting Vietnam vets all as psychos. We tend to be sensitive because of that.
My Dad was WW2 vet, B24′s China, his comments on movies was, that they didn’t behave as portrayed, the drinking and bad behavior, they had a serious job to do and couldn’t act that way.
My son did two tours with 25th 2/27 Wolfhounds, movies are cheesy to him now, we would see TV explosions, the Hollywood gasbombs are not like explosives.
He was a hummer driver, his first leave home he could hardly drive here. He had two buddies blown up in the truck just in front of him, he was right there to drag them out.
He wrote his story and was published in a local paper.
Sir, I read your son’s article and account and just want to thank you for a fine young man, and him for his unwavering service. He and his brothers-in-arms are the real deal, and I am so grateful to them all.

I usually hate everything out of Hollywood, but I watched it and didn’t find any ax to grind. My Anti-USA/Anti Military Radar was on Max while I watched it and didn’t think it PC Hollywood at all. The character is a cowboy in this fictional story. My guess, is in reality, the job is mundane and boring with moments of intense adrenalin. But frankly, that doesn’t make for an entertaining movie. It wasn’t up for best documentary. The director has praised the guys in uniform numerous times and without spewing the Hollywood Hate America First Mantra. For that, she should be admired. Maybe I’m a “Tard” but even a broken clock is right twice a day. I was entertained without being outraged. :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun:

I concur. I couldn’t find anything anti-troop either. Maybe in the end that’s why I liked it.

As the father of a former Army EOD Sgt. I knew watching the trailers for this movie it was going to be BS. Didn’t watch this movie and haven’t been to theaters in a long time. Last movie I went to see was when I took my grandughter to see ” Enchanted ”
